Chapter 110: Chapter 109 By the Name of Wishing Power
Chapter 110 -109 By the Name of Wishing Power
Chaoyang quickly scanned the location of the players and, after confirming that Zhou Zhi was in the temple, sent him a private message asking him to inform Jenny to send Jin Kefu to his room.
“Since that is the case, I will accept this reward.” He closed the box and stuffed it back under the wooden bed, “The person you’re looking for will be over soon.”
“Thank you for your understanding,” Luowei Siya said with relief, “Additionally, I have another impertinent request.”
“Let’s hear it?”
“I have heard… no, the Brotherhood has witnessed that the Yeni Temple can cure the Scarlet Curse, with the key lying in a new drug developed by the Gate of Destiny Pharmaceutical Company. You are deeply connected with the pharmaceutical company; I wonder if you could sell some of the special medicine to the Brotherhood? We can also pay with ore.”
The current public faces of the pharmaceutical company were Qianyuan Meiko, Tyler, and Anthony, but if some of the patients were under surveillance, they surely would have witnessed these three individuals interacting with him. It wasn’t surprising that the other party had made this deduction.
“The medicine cannot leave the temple and must be prepared and used on the spot, otherwise it not only becomes ineffective but could potentially be fatal,” Chaoyang replied directly, “I don’t want to involve the nuns in your conflict. If you can disguise the injured as workers discarded by the company and bring them to the temple for treatment, there wouldn’t be a problem.”
He surmised that the Brotherhood probably had quite a few gunshot victims in the recent purge, and without treatment, the number of deaths would likely increase further. However, the Misty Zone had almost no medical resources, and their identities were extremely sensitive, making the antibiotics produced by the Gate of Destiny incredibly precious to them.
“I see…” The other party sounded somewhat disappointed, “I understand.”
“Why not make a contract with them?” Ailuodi’s voice suddenly echoed in his mind, “Aren’t you the best at this?”
“Ah?” Chaoyang didn’t immediately catch on.
“Ah what, ore can only be exchanged for money, wishing power is what’s most important to you, isn’t it!”
“But they don’t have wishing power.”
“What!?” Now it was Ailuodi’s turn to be surprised, “Aren’t their life forces incredibly strong? Luowei Siya might not be up to par, but the person behind her… is nearly blinding me! Based on my previous observations, that person’s wishing power should be astonishingly large!”
Was that so?
Chaoyang once again assessed the three with a demon’s vision, and the conclusion was the same as before—they lacked the value to make a contract.
“What is it? Is there… something strange about us?” Luowei Siya noticed his scrutiny.
“Hmm… no, I was just wondering, do you usually pray?”
“Pray? Are you referring to the Storm God?”
Chaoyang realized his question was somewhat abrupt, “Any divinity will do… I was just asking, you don’t have to answer.”
“There’s nothing wrong with answering,” the other party replied openly, “We are people abandoned by the divinities, how could we possibly entrust our fates to them?”
“Our god… has died!” The masked man suddenly spoke with resentment. “There is no one in this city to be trusted, not the companies, not the police, not the Earl, not the city guards—all of the same ilk!”
“Mr. Chao?” At that moment, someone knocked on the door, interrupting their conversation, “I am Jenny.”
“Come in.”
Then Jenny entered the room, pushing a wheelchair with Jin Kefu sitting in it. When he saw Luowei Siya and the others, he did not seem surprised, as if he had expected this encounter.
“His toes were crushed and he still can’t walk on his own, so if you insist on taking him with you, this wheelchair is yours too,” Chaoyang said.
The three exchanged glances and stood up.
“It’s okay, this will do.” 𝔫𝖔𝖛𝖕𝔲𝔟.𝔠𝖔𝖒
“Wait, let me push him out,” Ailuodi rushed forward and was the first to dart out of the room with the wheelchair. Following were the three Brotherhood members, and finally Chaoyang and Jenny. When the group reached the entrance of the temple, Luowei Siya made a point to stop and bow to him again before climbing into the carriage with the help of her escorts.
“Your Excellency Chaoyang, who are they?” Jenny asked curiously.
“Just a group of patients,” Chaoyang replied as he watched the carriage grow distant.
On the way back to the room, he frowned the entire time.
“What are you thinking about?” Ailuodi cocked her head. “Are you regretting not getting more information out of Jin Kefu?”
“That’s not it,” Chaoyang pondered for a moment. “I feel like I’ve forgotten something… I wanted to ask them something… Do you know what it is?”
“What? I’m not the worm in your stomach,” Ailuodi walked briskly to his front, hands clasped behind her head. “Besides, are you sure this matter has anything to do with me?”
“You were definitely there, I remember your face…”
“Cough cough!” The Angel suddenly choked. “What you’re saying is strange, since you can remember me, why not just use the Dream Entering Technique on me to find out?”
“No need, I think it probably wasn’t anything important, otherwise I wouldn’t have forgotten,” Chaoyang shook his head, discarding the stray thoughts. “By the way, why did you take the initiative to push the wheelchair just now? That couldn’t have been muscle memory, could it?”
“What are you on about; wasn’t it for our contract?”
Chaoyang suddenly had a premonition of being schemed against, “What did you do?”
“I stuck a piece of chewing gum under the wheelchair seat. The gum has my… scent on it, so I can track its location and zip over in a flash,” Ailuodi replied with a smile. “Of course, I can bring you along for the ride.”
“Do you think they can provide a considerable amount of wishing power?”
“They struggle on the edge of life and death every day; how could they be completely satisfied with no wishes left?” Ailuodi spoke in a surprisingly serious tone. “I’ve seen many like them… thwarted at every turn, having lost so much that they don’t dare to hope for more. You heard it too. They don’t lack wishing power; they just don’t know whom to pray to.”
Chaoyang now understood what she was hinting at—the Dream Entering Technique could be used to spy on memories, as well as to entice others, much like what he had done to Shidong. However, Shidong at least had been praying, allowing him to clearly see the white light. He hadn’t tried with these three yet.
“I think you just plainly want to get back at the company,” Chaoyang feigned helplessness and shrugged his shoulders. “Alright, I can give it a try, but let’s get one thing straight: if they show no signs of wishing power or make wildly unrealistic prayers that could adversely affect Paradise’s current plans, I won’t make a contract with them.”
“No problem, I wholeheartedly agree,” Ailuodi immediately responded.
Chaoyang was also a bit curious. What was so special about the lifeforce that the Angel was so fixated on? And did a vigorous lifeforce necessarily produce a large amount of wishing power? If the two equated, wouldn’t these two observational skills be perfect partners?
Knowing more about one’s own abilities was never a bad thing at any time.
He was actually looking forward to this “experiment.”
