Chapter 162: Chapter 161 Exorcism Match
Chapter 162 -161 Exorcism Match
Just as the black strip shot out, a silver cross appeared out of nowhere, blocking in front of Shandela!
Not only that, but it landed precisely on top of the black strip. The hard-as-steel black “cloth” was bent for the first time and was smashed into the floor!
With the sound of cracking and breaking, countless fissures appeared beneath the office floor.
The next second, the entire ground collapsed with a roar, and Shandela found herself plummeting uncontrollably towards the bottom of the tower.
Only then did the soldiers inside the tower realize the gravity of the situation and began fleeing outside to avoid being hit by falling rocks. But amidst this chaotic stone rain, Ge Wei appeared precisely beneath her falling position and stretched out her hands to catch her smoothly.
“Sorry, I arrived a bit late,” she said as she dodged the falling debris, moving easily to a safe area outside the tower, before setting Shandela down.
Then with a wave of her hand, the silver cross flew straight out from the top of the tower and in the blink of an eye returned to her side.
“Thank you…” Shandela, clutching the wound on her waist, whispered, “Damn it… how did it infiltrate the City Guard’s base?”
“I don’t know, but my Ouroboros just reacted, proving that its host was still a normal person five minutes ago.”
“What… a snake?”
The cross emitted a buzzing vibration.
“Forgot to introduce it.” Ge Wei smiled, “The sacred artifact’s name is Ouroboros. Of course… I named it.”
“My lord… are you alright? What happened at the top of the tower?” At that moment, the surrounding stationed soldiers also gathered around.
“Pick up your guns; there’s an Evil God’s object inside the tower!” Shandela, despite the stabbing pain in her waist, commanded.
“If you don’t want your men to suffer casualties, just have them watch from the perimeter,” Ge Wei advised, “Ordinary bullets are ineffective against such evil entities; they won’t be of much use. Leave this to me.”
“Have you dealt with these things before?”
“No… this is the second time I’ve seen one, but actually the first time engaging,” the Priestess said indifferently, “But don’t worry about me. I can feel its aura strength. Compared to the one before Black Steel camp, this fellow is much weaker.”
“My lord?” The soldiers looked uncertainly at their Commander.
“Do as she says, stand guard outside the tower,” Shandela decided to heed her advice. Watching her walk towards the tower, Shandela clenched her fist with a touch of unwillingness; if it weren’t for the sudden attack and her lack of a handy weapon, she wouldn’t have possibly lost to an evil entity!
But now, everything had to be entrusted to the Mechanical Sect Priest.
Ge Wei entered the lower annexe of the tower—which usually served as a reception area. Guests who wished to visit the Commander of the City Guards would stay here before being permitted to ascend the tower, and it was also used as a resting spot for on-duty internal guards. At this moment, the place was filled with rubble, and the furniture such as chairs and tables had been smashed to pieces. Stepping high and low over the rubble, she looked up to see the evil entity standing halfway up in mid-air.
More precisely, its lower half was in the air, while from its body, black cloth strips extended in all directions, embedding themselves in the walls of the tower, resembling a many-legged insect climbing the wall.
Ge Wei had already witnessed its mode of attack.
The black strip, seemingly flexible, was harder than steel and possessed great force when lashing out. If one were to be hit by it with a physical body, it would be no different than being struck by a large blade. Additionally, its reaction speed was exceptionally fast, difficult for the naked eye to catch, and one could easily be split in two if not careful.
As for its weakness, those people had already taught her with their lives.
As long as the evil entity’s lower half was completely disintegrated, it would lose its vitality and turn into a pile of motionless rags.
The followers of the Heretical Cult were not terrifying themselves, but what was dreadful were the abnormal beings they summoned—those mysterious and unfathomable entities that should not exist in this world, hard to deal with using common sense. However, if the ins and outs of an evil being had already been figured out, it consequently wasn’t so frightening anymore.
She was profoundly grateful to those pioneers.
“Come on.” Ge Wei grabbed the cross and held it in front of herself, “I grant you flesh and blood!”
In an instant, the cross split open to reveal its grim, sharp teeth! It bit down on Ge Wei’s arm, looking as if it had become one with the priestess. At that moment, Ge Wei’s arm had transformed into a new cross, its silver shell turned a dark red because of the blood it had drawn.
She then lifted her cross-transformed arm, pointing its end toward the monster.
The potted plant monster also released the black strips it had been hanging from the wall with, plummeting towards her. The thrashing tentacles were all positioned in front of it, seemingly to block her attack.
“You guessed the wrong direction, fool.”
A blaze of firelight suddenly appeared from behind the monster, sweeping down over it completely! The explosive gust of air shook the stone tower once again, stirring up a great cloud of dust.
The enemy’s body completely lost control, as the powerful blast hammered it down to the ground, causing broken stones to scatter in all directions!
By the time it managed to struggle to its feet, only a stub of white bone and a few shreds of flesh remained of its lower legs.
Ge Wei didn’t give the enemy a chance to draw close, immediately dashing back over ten steps, and once again aimed the cross at the monster.
“That was a direct hit from a six-inch cannon! Let’s see how you handle an eight-inch! Ouroboros—fire!”
The cross emitted a strange humming sound, its tip glowing a dark red like metal heated through.
The monster completely abandoned any attempt to counterattack, its four black strips coiling around itself into a twist, clearly intending to defend against attacks from all 360 degrees.
However, this “cannonade” came from below it.
A burst of firelight shot up from the ground, the high-velocity jet pouring into the base of the twist in an instant, erupting from the top, along with the tattered remnants of the monster’s lower body—bone and flesh were torn away from the main body of the black strips, becoming the “live ammunition” fired off in this round of shooting.
The cannon’s gush of air followed the tower upward and finally burst into the Commander’s office, blowing a large hole in her wooden roof!
Without the support of its lower half, the black strips rapidly lost their luster and coiled into a heap, clattering down onto the rubble.
“Phew…” Ge Wei wiped the sweat from her forehead with her other hand, “I hope Lady Shandela doesn’t make me pay for the repair costs of Distant View Tower.”
Ouroboros also ceased its biting at this moment, splitting into two halves, sliding off Ge Wei’s arm, and then closing back into its original cruciform shape. However, her arm was still marked with two rows of deep tooth indentations slicing into the muscle, and blood slowly seeped from the wound, staining her sleeve red.
Ge Wei let out a pained moan, but her eyes were filled with jubilation and pleasure. She skillfully took out a roll of bandages and tightly wrapped her continuously bleeding right arm. Only then did she sling the cross over her shoulder and walked toward the outside of the tower.
By that time, the tower was already surrounded layer by layer by the city defense troops. Hundreds of lit torches illuminated the camp, making it as bright as day. As she stepped out of the base of the tower, she saw thirty or forty rifles suddenly aimed directly at her.
“Hold your fire, it’s a friendly!”
After Shandela had shouted, she looked toward Ge Wei, “What about the monster?”
“I have accomplished my duty; it has been dealt with,” the latter said with a smile.
Shandela breathed a sigh of relief, her furrowed brow finally relaxed, “You’re injured, let the army’s medic take a look.”
“No need, it’s just a minor wound.”
“I’ve seen that person,” Shandela changed the subject, “Don’t you want to know what we talked about?”
Ge Wei’s expression changed in an instant.
It was the first time she had seen such a serious look on the priestess’s face.
Though it lasted less than a second.
“Well, then, I’ll trouble you, my lady,” Ge Wei quickly revealed her familiar light smile, “But just to clarify, I don’t have the money to pay for the medical expenses, you know.”
