Chapter 59: Chapter 58 Unless Resorting to Violence
Chapter 59 -58 Unless Resorting to Violence
“So—” Anthony suddenly burst into laughter. “You spent an entire day discussing back and forth, and this is the crap you came up with? Sitting on the toilet pondering for a minute, I could summarize it clearer than all of you did. It’s just poverty!”
“This is the direst affliction in the world, and it never goes away. As long as there’s wealth, poverty will never disappear. Any compromise is just an evasion!”
“You talk as if you have a solution,” Zhou Zhi said, his tone also edged with irritation.
“Kid, of course I do! Or what do you think got me this far?”
Everyone’s gaze involuntarily turned to him.
After all, the Russian had behaved more like a barbarian than a strategist before.
“Care to share?” Zhang Zhiyuan couldn’t help but ask.
“Simple. The cathedral needs drugs, we can provide them; it needs bandages and sewing needles, we can make those too. Hell, we could even start a company and dominate the market with more advanced products, then take care of the nuns—that would work!” Anthony gestured grandly. “Don’t think it would take a lot of time—while you were blabbering with Yeni, I took a walk around the docks and the nearby shopping streets. I found the city’s supply to be quite plentiful; as long as we have money, materials and machinery are available for purchase.”
He pointed at Qianyuan Meiko, “I guess you, girl, have experience. If I gave you enough budget, how quickly could you set up a company?”
She seemed a bit displeased, but after a moment of contemplation, she replied, “It depends on the various qualifications and procedures required in the company’s location.”
“What if you didn’t need any of that?”
“Within a week… we could start production.” Mingzi shook her head. “But you’re still missing the point—we don’t have a penny of capital.”
“That’s why I said you guys are too naive. There’s money all over this city, and you say we don’t have any?” Anthony laughed heartily. “Ladies and gentlemen, this isn’t Earth! And we have guns! Just grab it and we’re done, aren’t we?”
“Pff.” Zhang Zhiyuan spat out his drink.
Qianyuan Meiko and Zhou Zhi’s eyes lit up.
Chaoyang glanced at Ailuodi subconsciously and unexpectedly found her deep in thought.
“We’re not bandits!” Zhang Zhiyuan couldn’t hold back any longer and slammed the table, standing up forcefully. “What if someone tries to stop us? You want to kill them all?”
“Brother Zhang, we don’t have to rob in broad daylight… Aren’t those big companies the most ideal targets?” Zhou Zhi urged him, trying to calm him down.
“Which companies exactly are involved in that special contract you were talking about?”
“Four in total,” Qianyuan Meiko replied. “GaoTian Mining, Schenck Will Shipping Company, Black Steel Security, and FaFu Construction. They’re also the four most powerful companies within Magnificent Castle.”
“GaoTian Mining again? There’s nothing to discuss then.” Anthony licked his lips. “The city’s northern police station is funded by them, right? I still haven’t settled that score with them from last time!”
“Hey, Justice Envoy—” the Russian nudged Zhang Zhiyuan with his chin, “What do you say? That company’s never done anything decent; you wouldn’t feel any guilt robbing them, would you?”
Zhang Zhiyuan couldn’t think of any counterargument. After all, the most bloody and horrific acts had taken place in the theater and manor, and as the shadowy sponsor, GaoTian Mining was undoubtedly complicit, if not supportive, or otherwise, there wouldn’t have been so many miners from Haiwei locked up in the manor’s dungeons.
He was naturally filled with intense hatred for these scum.
“If it’s just those people, I… I’m in.”
Zhang Zhiyuan sat back down.
“Now that’s what I call a fucking Paradise mission,” Anthony said, his excitement markedly different from before. “Host, isn’t there a map around here?”
“It can be exchanged for, ten points per map.”
“Uh… who has more points?”
“I’ll do it,” Zhou Zhi volunteered.
‘I thought you’d stand up against it.’ Chaoyang sent a private message to Ailuodi while fiddling with the map. ‘It seems Angel’s criteria for judgment are much more flexible than I imagined.’
If Ailuodi had taken part in the second round and witnessed the crimes committed by the northern police station, her silence would be understandable to Chaoyang. However, her knowledge of GaoTian Mining was merely based on the brief mentions of the other four, which made her lack of objection quite surprising.
‘Corporations are one of the roots of evil in this world, no matter where you are, it’s no different. I thought you understood that better than I did.’
‘Uh… Are the companies in France that terrible?’
‘I mean any place, they’re all the same!’
It was clear that Ailuodi had a significant aversion to corporations. Chaoyang wisely decided not to dwell on it. ‘But at least we have laws that govern them where I’m from. This place they call the New World is practically a wasteland.’ He briefly recounted the incident with GaoTian Mining and the northern police station, ‘If you want to punish the wicked and promote good, there’s endless work to be done here.’
‘What about you? What do you want to gain here?’
‘Isn’t that obvious from the start?’ Chaoyang smiled. ‘I just want to survive.’ n𝚘𝚟𝚙u𝚋.co𝚖
After an intense discussion, the “players” finally came up with a preliminary plan to accumulate capital.
Simply put, GaoTian Mining has two main areas in Magnificent Castle, one is the metallurgical factory on the northwest side of the city, and the other is the mining field in the suburbs. A railway connects these two places, and its end leads directly to the port dock on the southeast side. This is undoubtedly an efficient transportation system—it handles everything from mining, smelting, to exporting exclusively by train.
Breaking into the metallurgical factory was too close to the city, choosing the mining field was too far from the city, and robbing the bank where GaoTian Mining’s accounts were held would only make things harder. Therefore, the compromise naturally fell on the railway.
Indeed, robbing a train became the most agreed-upon choice!
“I think the Americans are best at this, but we’re not far behind.” Anthony concluded the final summary. “Most of the time, these trains transport ore, so we have to find out which ones carry the funds. From my experience, it usually happens one to two days before the payroll is handed out. Such a large amount of cash isn’t suitable for keeping long, it needs to be distributed as soon as it’s received. Of course, the amount won’t be too much, probably only a small fraction of the total assets in GaoTian Mining’s account, which means their security won’t be too tight.”
Zhou Zhi couldn’t help but admire the Russian, “So all we need to do is find out when the mining field pays its workers?”
“A little tip can make the information more accurate.” Anthony looked around. “Any objections from anyone else?”
Seeing no one opposing, he turned to Chaoyang, “This is the solution we’ve found! Host, if there are no other issues, we’re going to proceed like this.”
