Shin ran a hand through his messy, bird's-nest-like hair, then tried to smooth out his clothes.

"Where are Karin, Hinata, and Hanabi? Why aren't they home?" Shin asked Mikoto, puzzled.
"They went to train. Hinata is teaching Hanabi the Gentle Fist, and Karin went along to watch," Mikoto replied.
Shin's eyes showed a hint of surprise. That lazy bum Hanabi went to train? That's quite astonishing.
"I'll go check on them."
Shin left the house and headed towards the training grounds.
Not far from their residence was a training ground Shin had constructed. They usually trained there.
However, the women hadn't trained much recently, so the place was somewhat overgrown with weeds. I'll have Mikoto use Fire Release to clear the weeds another day.

Karin hugged Shin, her eyes sparkling with joy. Shin hadn't pushed her away! Did this mean she had a chance?

However, Karin buried her face in Shin's chest, so her expression remained unseen.
"Big Sis, aren't you jealous?" Hanabi sidled up to Hinata, poked her arm, and whispered.
Hanabi was quite perceptive.
Seeing Hinata's dejected expression, Hanabi knew her sister must be envious of Karin.

Hearing her sister's scolding, Hanabi smirked inwardly. 'Don't think I'm little and don't understand anything. Big Sis, you're clearly very happy about this in your heart, aren't you?'
