33: Chapter 33: The Coffin Achieves Merit
33 -33: The Coffin Achieves Merit
Coffins were really nifty things!
Since they were all setting fire to the coffin, Su Ran was not one to hold back.
He didn’t wait for the fire mage to recover his health from the fight; he once again threw out a deadly piece of burning paper.
“Die, die, I’ll burn extra money for you after you die,” Su Ran chuckled.
Lucky for him, the fire mage hadn’t mastered the fire shield technique.
If he had, the fight would have been over, and his little skeleton could have stayed in hiding.
“Boom!”
The fire mage fell to the ground in regret and unwillingness, bursting into a red crystal orb and several potions.
This wretched place really didn’t allow for resurrection!
The fire mage tried several times to resurrect using gold coins, but the system kept notifying him that it was a special scene and resurrection was not allowed.
The fire mage resentfully quit the game and roared loudly at home.
“The Orb of Fire Source!” An awestruck spearsman called out.
Ignoring the coffin before him, he ran full force towards the rolling Orb of Fire Source.
“Was that fire mage just too unlucky?
He even burst out such a treasure!” Ni Wudao was also taken aback upon hearing this, “Spearsman, be careful.
That pesky skeleton boss is hiding in the coffin, it’s too intelligent!
Once I’ve taken care of this wildcat, we’ll chop up that skeleton together!”
Nodding, the spearsman rushed towards the fearsome Orb of Fire Source.
Orb of Fire Source?
What was that?
It could actually be a treasure!
Why bother with that?
Was this player named Spearsman brainless?
Simply clueless?
Tucking his buttocks for the enemy to hit?
My God, he had a swaying run.
Su Ran thought to himself.
But his hands were swift, promptly throwing a flaming paper.
Spearsman heard the whooshing wind noise, glanced over his shoulder, and was surprised to see a roaring fireball rushing towards him.
The fireball was even encased in a layer of ever-fluctuating black flames.
It closed in on him in the blink of an eye.
“Boom!” “-258” (Lucky Crit)
Seeing his health drop dramatically, Spearsman let out a horrified yell, “Damn, damn, damn!
It took away 258 points of my health!
Where did these damn low-level bosses come from?
No wonder Old Fire died!
Ni Wudao, you’d better take care of that wildcat ASAP, and then let’s team up, hurry, I’m running out of blood, and there’s too much bumpy terrain and weeds, I can’t dodge effectively!”
“This cat’s pretty nimble!
But it’s almost dead—hang in there for one more minute!” Ni Wudao continued to jab at the dark bone cat that kept evading to the left and right with the blade in his hand, endlessly using his abilities.
Su Ran certainly wasn’t kind-hearted enough to wait for Ni Wudao to defeat the Dark Bone Cat boss.
He threw flaming paper after flaming paper at the approaching spearsman as if money was no object.
Spearsman was indeed a leaderboard player.
Dodging left and right, he barely managed to avoid many of the flaming papers head-on, despite the weed scraping nastily against his face.
By a hair’s breadth, he escaped the skeleton boss’s onslaught.
Spearsman seemed highly skilled and courageous.
Taking advantage of the lull, he quickly bent down and picked up the Orb of Fire Source from the ground.
But as soon as he lifted his head, he saw, to his horror, another flaming paper was shooting towards him.
Spearsman intended to somersault to avoid it, but unfortunately, he was hindered by the underbrush and couldn’t execute the maneuver, thus, the cunning fireball burst right in his chest.
“Boom!” “-258” (Lucky Crit)
Spearsman rigidly laid flat on the ground.
The Orb of Fire Source rolled out with a thump, the shiny necklace it was attached to also fell to the ground.
Huh?
How did that player die?
Su Ran wore a puzzled expression, he’d only hit him twice before he was dead?
No matter how, his death was a good sign.
Now only Ni Wudao and the nearly dead Dark Bone Cat boss remained.
Su Ran quickly ignited the [Candle] under his feet, took up the flaming paper, and aimed at Ni Wudao.
Ni Wudao gritted his teeth with rage upon seeing this and cursed, “Damn it, the two helpers die even sooner than me.
That spearsman even dropped the Curse Chain.
This damn skeleton, damn wildcat!”
Cursing and muttering, Ni Wudao suddenly charged at the Dark Bone Cat.
Just as he made this bold move, a Lucky Crit appeared.
The Dark Bone Cat, too, had just completed its mission with honor.
It perished and transformed into a sizeable tombstone heap on the ground.
“Damn it, the BOSS didn’t drop any equipment this time, we battled for nothing!” Ni Wudao pulled out a Healing Potion and ran towards the two helpers who were down, knowing he couldn’t afford to bet on or compensate for the value of these two pieces of equipment.
He could only try to get his hands on their equipment first!
Seeing him run towards the scattered equipment, Su Ran thought about how people could kill for wealth!
He chuckled, crumpled a piece of joss paper and threw it over.
Who could have known Ni Wudao had been waiting for that very moment?
Hearing the unusual sound of the wind whistling, he quickly retreated, dodging the joss paper’s attack.
With a ‘Jump Cut,’ he straight toward the coffin.
He faked an attack!
Damn, this guy could finally feint.
“Bang!” “Crack!”
The crumbling coffin lid, after enduring so many attacks, finally couldn’t hold on and was shattered by Ni Wudao’s blow.
Incredibly, his body coincidentally fell straight into the coffin.
“Shit!
Where the hell is that damned skeleton?
Bad news!” Ni Wudao knew he’d been tricked, he immediately tried to climb out of the coffin.
Su Ran wasn’t going to let this golden opportunity slip by.
He pushed the coffin away with all his strength, used all his might to overturn it, stomped out the incense and jumped onto the coffin.
The coffin Ni Wudao was standing on was suddenly shoved, throwing him off balance.
He fell back into the coffin and was immediately trapped inside again by the overturned lid.
“It’s over!” Ni Wudao’s heart chilled in the pitch black, but he didn’t resign himself to his fate.
He thrashed about, trying to push open the coffin from the inside.
Regrettably, just as Ni Wudao managed to crack it open a hair’s breadth, a deceitful little fireball zipped in.
“Bang!” “-258” (Lucky Crit)
Damn, he even suffered a crit.
Ni Wudao was in complete panic.
As he accumulated strength in the tightly enclosed coffin, he took out a Healing Potion.
He had to replenish his HP before anything else!
Just as he was about to use the Healing Potion, to his absolute horror, Ni Wudao discovered that the skeleton had cracked open the coffin from beneath.
Sunlight streamed in through the crack.
A bony claw shot up from underneath, clutching a stack of joss papers.
“Damn it!” Ni Wudao began to thrash violently, twisting his body in an attempt to dodge the intelligent skeleton’s attack.
Sadly, the coffin was so small he barely had room to maneuver, let alone attack with a weapon.
He couldn’t counterattack!
“Bang!” “-129”
He could only watch in despair as the skeleton took out another piece of yellowing joss paper, setting it ablaze.
It enveloped the entire coffin in a blinding light, and soon, it singed Ni Wudao’s body.
Ni Wudao was at the brink of breaking down, cursing the skeleton while stomping the bony claw under his feet.
But his attack was too weak, it merely vented his hopeless frustration.
He struggled to lift the overturned coffin, gritting his teeth as he pushed it with all his might.
The coffin was glued to him, refusing to budge no matter how Ni Wudao tried to shake it off.
If he could see what was happening outside, he would have puked blood in frustration and died on the spot.
Several coffins were precariously perched on top of his.
As expected, all of them had been conveniently procured from Su Ran’s stockpile, these coffins were stacked one after another to hold down Ni Wudao’s coffin.
However, these heavy coffins were all obtained by Su Ran by chance when he was digging graves…
And so…
Ni Wudao watched as his HP rapidly depleted to zero by the petty skeleton’s joss paper attack.
Trapped in the coffin, he died, leaving behind only a corpse.
