Chapter 70: Resourceful Place
John looked below and blinked. Could it be an underground cave?
"Can you find the entrance?"
However, it turned out Alfred could only sense it from here. Even if there was an entrance somewhere, it was impossible to find within a short time.
"Fuck it, let’s bring out some diggers and dig the entrance from here."
John had some good Earth-attributed monsters in the Prison Forest. It was time to whip out a few of them here and make them work.
As a reward, he could give them some treats.
The carrot and Stick method would be perfect for those dumb wild monsters.
John took everyone into Monster Paradise and went to Prison Forest.
Most of the monsters had calmed down and were living a chill life by now. The food problem was solved by John, who could simply create cooked and tasty meats using Molding Essence, which made them forget about eating each other.
They could also talk clearly to each other, increasing understanding and communication, which allowed for bonding despit having difference in species.
John had also told them he would evolve every one of them eventually, and with daily Molding Essence increasing, he was expanding the habitates and their qualities as well.
John had an idea to create a Monster Society, and he wanted to try it out.
"That’s the deal, it’s only for those who can dig professionally," John said with a grin as he snapped his finger, creating five giant cooked steaks that smelled drool-dripping delicious.
’Fucking hell, even I am getting hungry smelling this.’
John had imagined the tastiest five dishes for 1000 Molding Essence, and these exotic meat dishes came into existence.
"Those who accept this task will get to eat these delicious foods."
"Diggers? Goddamn, I am no digger."
"I am up! I can even dig through solid rocks!"
"Is there anything else I can do?"
"Hey, if you want a digger, there’s no one better than me. I dig through metal-fucking-veins like a sharp claw through tender flesh. The only thing I can’t dig is this damn ground here. What kinda earth is this?!"
Naturally, no diggers could dig through Monster Paradise’s island unless John willed it.
In the end, John selected three of the strongest Prime-stage Silver-rank monsters of Earth attribute—Digger Drill Worm, Dirt Blaster Mole, and Terracoil Geo Groundhog.
He brought out the trio alongside Pymon, Alfred, Merc, Crocky, and Sony.
"Start digging here. Make sure you create a solid sliding passage down below. Not straight, but slidable."
As the diggers began working, Alfred sniffed something and growled.
"Alright, get into position. It seems we are having a party," John took out his gun.
From around them, several pairs of red-eyes eyes lit up in the darkness.
"There are seven of them," John muttered, his eyes glinting as he inspected and got their names.
[Pyroclast Darkbone Rabbit]
Fire and Darkness attributed monsters.
The rabbits pounced on them, all of them being Prime-stage Silver-rank.
The only way to defeat them easily was with a solid strategy.
’Merc and Crocky, become a bait! The rest of you scatter and prepare to unleash the skills when they gather up at one spot.’
Merc and Crocky wanted to cry, but they obeyed. Both of them had armored-type skills, so they strengthened themselves and attracted the rabbits since Alfred, Pymon, and Sony jumped up and left.
John also was bait. In fact, he was the main bait since the rabbits seemed to be targeting him.
The rabbits attacked.
Two rabbits unleashed dark flame slash projectiles at John while the other five sped up with their limbs burning and hands extending large dark flame claws, targetting Merc and Crocky.
Merc and Crocky ran away instead of fighting head-on as per John’s instruction while John also easily dodged the projectiles and escaped with Strider’s Gaunt.
Merc had two rabbits behind him, Crocky had two, and John had three behind him.
But as the trio escaped in different directions as per John’s Soul Whisper and made a quick round before they could see each other gathering at the same spot, leading the rabbits.
John grinned at Crocky and Merc, waving his hand as he sent them into Monster Paradise while he jumped up and used Umbral Drift.
At that moment, all seven rabbits saw each other, grouped at one spot.
"Attack!"
Pymon unleashed Winged-Tempest Blasters using all of his soul energy, damaging and paralyzing the rabbits.
Next, Sony the Glimmerlune Snake unleashed a poison cloud, weakening them further for Paralyse to last longer, as well as blinding them as it was the poison’s effect.
Lastly, Alfred used his new skill—Tundral Hemoxar Claws.
Swipe!
Alfred swiped both of its front claws as a large ten-claw projectile in X shape sizzling with glowing crimson light with a black streak and ghastly blue sparks struck all seven of the rabbits.
[Tundral Hemoxar Claws]: Unleashes a projectile from the claws for pure damage with a 100% chance to bleed as well as cause frostbites outwardly, preventing healing while letting the internal blood flow out forcefully from the wound.
The damage was already devastating, not to mention the skill’s bleeding and frostbite effects that increased the damage even further.
All seven rabbits were cut up into pieces and died.
John extracted their soul cores. He absorbed three of them and gave the rest to Pymon.
"Good job, everyone. That was executed well and easy," John said after he summoned back Merc and Crocky.
Crocky and Sony had reached 100 Gene Potential, and they were already at Prime-stage Silver-rank.
’Hmmm, I should evolve them into stronger forms, and that too in front of the other monsters, so they can see my power to evolve properly.’
Looking at the sliding hole, John thought. ’I hope I can find a good amount of resources here, especially of Gold-rank.’
To evolve those Silver-rank Monsters to Gold-rank, he would need Gold-rank resources.
Sage Kindred had the ability to earn tons of gold, but he had to plan and tread carefully for this. Short-term profit only to get caught wasn’t his aim.
Shortly, the mole came out of the ground, popping its horned head.
"You reached the cave?"
The mole nodded.
"Great. Let’s go," John waved his hand, putting all monsters into Monster Paradise, and jumped into the sliding hole.
Soon, he emerged from the hall and directly landed in a cavern illuminated by blue and green moss on various parts, as well as some crystals.
It was a fairly big one with roughly a 200-meter radius of area and had two passages.
The highly concentrated spirit energy made this cave lively with grass, puddles of water, and trees.
’Damn, it looks like I stumbled upon a pretty good place,’ John thought as he looked around. Specifically, his eyes focused on three small trees glowing at the center, bearing almost identical fruits, but with different attributes.
’This...’ John’s pupils shrank as he automatically got their details.
[Swirling Fury Tree]
-Attributes: Metal, Wind.
-Rank: Gold.
[Aqua Mist Tree]
-Attributes: Water, Mist
-Rank: Gold.
[Ash Bloom Tree]
-Attributes: Fire, Flora.
-Rank: Gold.
No wonder Alfred could feel potent spiritual energy right below from above! There were three freaking trees bearing a total of six Gold-rank fruits!
[New evolution pathways available for Metal Merc Tiger]
[New evolution pathways available for Shardstone Crocodile]
[New evolution pathways available for Glimmerlune Snake]
John grinned. ’I should be able to evolve all four of them.’
*Hiss...*
But it looks like he wasn’t alone in this cave.
Ten colorful snakes, each one almost ten meters long with glimmering scales emerged from various spots.
The diggers panicked.
"It’s just more food and soul crystal for us," John said with a laugh and summoned his gang. "Let’s finish them off."
