Chapter 449 -384: Birth Mother Indifferent Like a Chrysanthemum? The Young Miss Sabotages Everything with a Backhand 24_2
“Thank you, Dr. Xie,” Su Zhiruan also felt some curiosity. She admitted to herself that she had only met Xie Yanshang once and though she had kept his contact information, their communication was not extensive. After reflecting, she spoke up, “But why do you want to help me like this? You’re helping me so much that I don’t even know how to properly thank you!”
“I was just on the way.”
Xie Yanshang lifted his eyelids and noticed the traffic light in front of him turn green again.
He continued to drive with focused attention and took the opportunity to explain, “My mother heard the phone call you made to me, and on a whim, she agreed to accompany you to the parent-teacher conference at school. I also wanted to find out what had happened at that time.”
“I was recommended for admission and needed a parent’s signature, but my parents… So I called you. I didn’t expect that it would be Madam Xie who came. If it’s possible, please convey my gratitude to Madam Xie once again on my behalf!” Su Zhiruan recounted the whole incident without hiding anything from Xie Yanshang. From last time, she could see that the Xie Family and the Su Family were not on the same level. Su Qin’s attitude towards Dr. Xie that day was exceedingly respectful and submissive. And Xie Yanshang didn’t seem like someone who gossiped, so telling him didn’t worry Su Zhiruan that he would spread the news.
Xie Yanshang indeed kept to himself.
He nodded slightly.
“Alright, I understand.”
Then, he parked the car next to the Traditional Chinese Hospital and got it settled.
Taking Su Zhiruan with him, they entered a small shop nearby.
Walking one after another into the shop, Su Zhiruan followed Xie Yanshang and carefully observed the surroundings.
The small shop seemed to carry years of history with its various big and small cabinets and old objects placed on the tables, all of which didn’t look new. The air was filled with a faint aroma of herbal medicine, instantly bringing a sense of tranquility to one’s heart upon entering.
Xie Yanshang moved behind the counter and sat down, gesturing for Su Zhiruan to sit as well.
“Let’s do it here. I’ll take a quick look and see what other medicine you need,” Xie Yanshang indicated for Su Zhiruan to stretch out her hand.
Su Zhiruan did just that, extending her wrist towards him.
Time quietly flowed by.
During the pulse examination, the air seemed to stand still, devoid of sounds or disturbances, as if they were the only two people in the entire space.
Su Zhiruan found her mind wandering.
Though the process only took a few minutes, she thought about a lot.
Her current body was young, just a high school student. The immediate priority should be to heal the illness in her body, to grow strong and healthy.
The Xie Family had a prominent background. Even if they had not been present much in public view these years, the heritage they left was not to be underestimated. Just by Su Zhiruan’s observation of her classmates’ reactions to the Xie Family, she knew that it was still a significant entity, incomparable to the Su Family.
It seemed that to be tough oneself, one must become hardened. It looked like her path in this world was inching toward an inward focus again.
Su Zhiruan sighed deeply in her heart.
The children of different dimensions were all exemplary, and yet she always fell a little short, which meant she had to continue striving to improve herself.
“Switch hands,” Xie Yanshang casually instructed.
Su Zhiruan obediently did as told, offering the other hand.
The silence prevailed. Su Zhiruan glanced sideways, involuntarily looking out the window. Just this small traditional medicine shop seemed to split the world in two.
On the left outside the window were bustling streets, towering skyscrapers, and all kinds of modern technology. People hurried along, indicative of a fast-paced era.
To her right lay a serene forest. With the breeze blowing, the woods gently swayed. Occasionally, leaves tapped against the window before cascading down, their rustling sound pleasant to the ear, just like a backyard to the herbal shop.
The contrast in scenery was stark, and being amidst it made them feel especially surreal, as if in a dream.
Su Zhiruan pulled her gaze back, focusing on the handsome man before her, deeply absorbed in his task.
It must be said, he was indeed very attractive.
“Dr. Xie, let me treat you to a meal later,” Su Zhiruan watched him withdraw his hand, blinked quietly, and suggested.
Xie Yanshang lifted his eyelids to look at her, but did not respond.
