Chapter 203: Chapter 203 Armory
The waterfall seemed very close, yet it was actually far away. They traveled continuously, from sunrise until the sun hung low in the sky, and finally arrived at Goddess Waterfall.
The mighty mist of water hit their faces, turbulent waters splashing large blooms amidst the moss-covered boulders. After squeezing through a narrow passageway next to the rock walls, their surroundings suddenly opened up, and they finally saw the artificially excavated broad cement platform and the train tracks winding towards it.
Seeing the tracks meant that the Armory was close at hand. Everyone relaxed a bit.
The railway tracks extended forward and directly into a massive cave. Inside the cave was a descending cement slope; if the dense greenery on the cave walls was pushed aside, one could see the hidden pipes and wires. Inside here—was the production workshop of the Armory.
Han Jiaojiao stood at the entrance of the cave, craning her neck to look inside. It was pitch dark, with not a single ray of light, and the end was not in sight.
They continued forward with their flashlights, walking about a hundred meters, only to be stopped by a heavy iron door. This door was cast from special steel and was extremely sturdy, not even a cannonball could easily blast it open. Yan Xiao carefully used high heat to slowly melt the door into a thin sheet of iron; he dared not burn straight through, fearing that he might accidentally cause a big explosion given the unknown conditions within the factory.
Once the temperature went down, Yang Qi, enhanced in strength, walked up to the door and punched through it with a few blows.
A putrid stench assaulted their noses! Everyone quickly covered their noses, their faces showing signs of disgust.
They waited by the door for a while, but there was no movement inside the factory, and it was so quiet that one could hear a pin drop.
Han Yi superficially scanned the area with his Ability and said indifferently, "They’re all dead inside."
Everyone looked at each other.
It seemed that someone had closed the workshop’s valves, and the Alien Species had been trapped inside, alive until they died.
After the apocalyptic world had dawned, although Han Yi had not visibly laid off a large number of workers and soldiers from the factory, he had made some staff reductions secretly. Therefore, there shouldn’t have been too many people in the Armory, and even if everyone had turned into Alien Species, they would have been manageable. Now, unexpectedly, these Alien Species had already died.
Most likely, they starved to death inside. This was an unexpected surprise.
Han Yi decided to take only a part of the group inside, while the rest stayed outside to assist.
Ultimately, Han Yi brought Han Jiaojiao, Yan Xiao, Xiao Jian, and Yang Qi into the cave, while Zhou Xiaoliang, Hao Boming, and Tian Xinyue stayed outside, each equipped with a walkie-talkie.
Continuing forward for a few dozen meters, they saw the exit. The exit connected to a long corridor, like a gallery built along the rock walls. They shone their flashlights and discovered a space of incredible size in front of them. It was probably even bigger than a football field! Below were rows and rows of production lines, neatly divided into sections by iron fences according to categories, with the fences connected to safety passages adorned with yellow caution signs.
Han Jiaojiao suppressed her excitement and followed Han Yi’s steps. They walked hand in hand along the safety passage down to the production line. Han Yi threw open his Ring Space, using his spiritual power to lift the weapons around him and hurl them into the swirling space.
The others weren’t idle either, running around, continuously picking up various weapons from the production lines and throwing them one by one into the vortex.
The weapons were too numerous, including firearms, cannons, and even a workshop specifically producing missiles! Missiles required specialized precision machinery for launching and use. Even though they were not immediately useful, Han Yi still collected all of them into the space. — They spent an hour cleaning out the production workshop.
Han Jiaojiao thought this was the end, but unexpectedly, Han Yi led them to a door—it was a warehouse!
The warehouse door was opened, and piles of wooden crates, like small hills, were revealed before their eyes! Han Jiaojiao knew that these crates were filled with ammunition and weapons!
Her eyes shone as she watched Han Yi collect these crates into the space, her heart thumping with excitement!
—It was simply amazing! Brother was incredible!
Obviously, the Armory’s warehouse was more than one room. Han Yi spent another half an hour, finally collecting all the inventory from all the warehouses.
After completing these tasks, Han Yi leaned tiredly against the railing to rest. Although opening the space did not consume much Ability, the moving of these weapons had drained a great deal of his spiritual power, especially with the heavy weaponry weighing hundreds or even thousands of pounds, which made it extremely laborious to move, not to mention that he had moved them countless times over and over.
Han Jiaojiao opened her personal water bottle, cautiously helping her brother drink. Although Han Yi was not weakened to that extent, he still enjoyed the moment, slowly taking a few sips from Han Jiaojiao’s cup.
The others moved many weapons and were very tired, but they didn’t get such good treatment and rested by either leaning or standing.
Four Space-Time Beasts, bored out of their minds, swung on the high steel frames, disliking the pervasive smell of gunpowder here.
Seeing the vast Armory emptied out, everyone felt an indescribable sense of relief.
Yan Xiao took out the walkie-talkie and said to Han Yi, "Shall we let the people outside know?"
Han Yi was enjoying his sister’s care and glanced at him lightly upon hearing this, without saying a word.
Yan Xiao knew that meant Han Yi agreed, so he switched on the walkie-talkie and started with "Hello, hello, hello."
After waiting a while, there was no response.
Han Yi furrowed his brow slightly.
Just as Yan Xiao was about to call again, suddenly the walkie-talkie burst into a series of crackling static noises. Then, it seemed like someone tried to speak but before they could say anything more than a gasp, the voice at the other end cut off.
Yan Xiao picked up the walkie-talkie to ask, but felt a weight on his shoulder and turned to see, it was Han Yi’s hand pressing down on his shoulder.
Han Yi, looking at Yan Xiao, slowly shook his head. He used his Ability to check the outside situation and immediately realized that the canyon was crowded with many people.
"It must be Han Rui bringing people over," Han Yi’s spiritual power reached out fully, his brows slightly furrowed, "There are over two hundred people outside."
Han Jiaojiao’s heart tightened, "Xinyue and the others are still outside..."
Han Yi reassured her, "Don’t worry, they won’t be harmed; the people outside have just captured them to find out what’s going on inside the factory."
Xiao Jian snapped a cartridge into the rifle with a cold voice, "That little itch Han Rui has gotten, Han bro, let me go out and put a bullet in him."
Yang Qi also lifted his gun, joining Xiao Jian.
"Han bro," Yan Xiao looked towards Han Yi, the few of them just waiting for Han Yi’s command to rush outside and fight.
Han Yi slowly fluttered his eyelids and said, "We’re going straight out."
Xiao Jian, Yan Xiao, and Yang Qi looked at Han Yi with puzzled faces.
Han Jiaojiao stood next to Han Yi, looked around and whispered, "Anyway, they came for the munitions, we just go out and say we didn’t see anything. If they don’t believe us, they can come in and look for themselves, after all, there’s nothing here, let them search."
Han Yi patted Han Jiaojiao’s head, very satisfied that his sister’s thoughts aligned with his own.
Yan Xiao laughed, "Alright, we go straight out, if they want to talk, we’ll talk, if they want to fight, we’ll fight."
Han Jiaojiao, after thinking for a moment, added softly, "But... we have to keep Pepper and the others inside first, otherwise, they’ll be seen."
Yan Xiao worried, "Can they stay inside quietly and obey?"
Han Jiaojiao stood tall, proudly saying, "Of course! They’re very smart!"
Yan Xiao: "..."
