Chapter 248: Chapter 248 I’m Pursuing You
Han Jiaojiao didn’t respond but flipped through a map in the car, silently studying it.
Long Yueze started the car, feeling slightly excited.
Once he thought about how Han Jiaojiao beside him was like a blank page, and he was about to fill that blank page with his own marks, he found the idea to be extremely amusing. Even if he couldn’t gain her trust for now, it didn’t matter, as long as he brought her to the laboratory at Chujiang Base, he could do anything to her.
Of course, he could do whatever he wanted even now, it was just that... he needed a bit of a tactic. And he didn’t want to end the game too quickly.
The snow-track off-road vehicle left two long trails behind as it slid across the vast snowy field.
The car’s heater was on, making it very warm. Han Jiaojiao’s zipper on her cold-weather gear was undone, revealing the light purple turtleneck sweater underneath, with curves at her chest captivating and alluring.
Perhaps sensing someone looking at her, Han Jiaojiao put down the map, furrowed her brow slightly, and looked up at Long Yueze.
Long Yueze looked away, continuing to focus on the road ahead, "...I see you seem to have forgotten many things, when we return to the base, I’ll take you to see a doctor, and have a check-up on your health."
This way, he could naturally bring her to the laboratory.
Unexpectedly, Han Jiaojiao handed over the map, her clear fingers pointing at a spot, "Go here."
Long Yueze’s view was blocked by the map, and he quickly braked.
He almost thought that Han Jiaojiao had regained her memory and thus wanted to change course and go back to the Space-Time Base. But when he looked closely at the place Han Jiaojiao was pointing at, he realized that it wasn’t the Space-Time Base at all.
It wasn’t the Space-Time Base or any other base for that matter, just a meaningless spot on the map.
"...Jiaojiao, that place is too far... the journey will be very dangerous. If you want to go, we can go back to the base first, make proper preparations, and then..."
Han Jiaojiao didn’t seem inclined to argue with him and simply pressed a gun against his head, demanding coldly, "Either drive, or get out of the car."
Long Yueze’s face stiffened. He hadn’t expected that after he rescued Han Jiaojiao from the factory, impersonating Cao Qi, she would still point a gun at him.
Her guard was so strong...
"You can put the gun away," Long Yueze said with a composed expression, "I will take you to this place on the map, there’s no need to point a gun at your own teammate."
Despite Long Yueze’s stinging words, Han Jiaojiao’s face showed little emotion. She slowly retracted the hand holding the gun, calmly gazing at the vast whiteness ahead.
She appeared calm on the surface, but inside she was anxious and restless. 𝚗ovp𝚞b.𝚌om
Han Jiaojiao had already noticed that reality and her understanding of it had a huge discrepancy. Time seemed to have reversed to the Ice Age two years ago, yet, it was also different from what she remembered of two years prior.
The most striking difference was that the section of her arm she had lost was still there.
What the hell was going on?
When people feel a lack of safety, their first thought is "go home"! — Han Jiaojiao certainly didn’t have a home, but as the saying goes, the cunning rabbit has three burrows. During her time seeking revenge, she had cleared out a few temporary lodging places in some desolate areas to avoid being recognized by the Qin Family.
The reason she dared to live outside the base, was because she had always been followed by several Space-Time Beasts, so she had never worried about issues with Alien Species.
But now...
Han Jiaojiao cast an almost imperceptible glance at Long Yueze, who was driving.
Now, she had no Space-Time Beasts by her side, only a man of dubious identity.
Han Jiaojiao always felt that this man wasn’t telling the truth. She knew she wasn’t particularly smart; her only strength, if any, was the caution and care she had honed after enduring hardship. So even though she was currently at her wit’s end, she still couldn’t bring herself to trust this man’s words easily...
The snow-track off-road vehicle moved steadily forward, with the landscape along the way being uniformly dull and white.
The car performed well, not too bumpy, but Han Jiaojiao felt really uncomfortable.
One of her hands slowly covered her stomach, the feeling of nausea growing stronger. Could it be motion sickness? Perhaps a side effect of the muscle relaxant...
Seeing her pale complexion, Long Yueze asked her, "What’s wrong?"
Han Jiaojiao, clutching her lower abdomen, took a slow breath, "Do you have water?"
Long Yueze slowed down the car and, turning, took a bottle of mineral water from the back seat and handed it to Han Jiaojiao.
The cool liquid slid down her throat, making Han Jiaojiao feel much more comfortable.
Drops of water ran down her lips, sliding along her graceful jawline, disappearing near her collarbone. ——Long Yueze’s gaze lingered greedily on her, feeling that everything she did was extremely enticing.
With an expressionless face, Han Jiaojiao screwed the cap back on and said, "Have I ever told you that your look makes me very uncomfortable?"
Long Yueze was startled for a moment and then laughed, "It’s beyond my control, Jiaojiao, you probably don’t remember, but I’ve been pursuing you for a long time."
Upon hearing this, Han Jiaojiao showed no shyness, but gave him a mocking smile.
Neither of them spoke again.
——During the Ice Age, daylight hours were short, and even during the day, the sunlight was not very intense. At such times, it was when Alien Species would emerge.
When a dark shadow appeared in the white expanse of snow ahead, Long Yueze pulled out a gun he had prepared earlier, and handed another one to Han Jiaojiao.
"I’ll drive, you shoot," he said.
Han Jiaojiao weighed the gun in her hand and cast a casual glance at the Alien Species charging toward them.
"Alien Species mostly hunt in groups; there should be its companions nearby. Gunshots will attract more of them."
As the Alien Species neared, Han Jiaojiao made no move, causing Long Yueze to raise an eyebrow and say, "Are you planning to use your Ability? But with your memory loss, can you control it well..."
Han Jiaojiao felt a wave of reverie. Once, she had envied Superpower Users who, when facing Alien Species and running out of ammunition, could still rely on their Abilities, but what about her? Countless times she had grappled with Alien Species with just a dagger, escaping death... And now, she had become a Superpower User herself.
"Do you have a dagger? A knife would also do."
Long Yueze handed her a military combat dagger.
The Alien Species had already charged in front of the car when it leaped up easily, climbing onto the roof, its sharp claws scratching around, seemingly ready to find the weakest point for attack.
The car kept moving forward with a huge creature now on top of it.
"We’re in luck, it seems to be a juvenile Alien Species, just about two meters tall," Han Jiaojiao said as she opened the car window on her side.
Long Yueze was shocked by her calmness and also amazed at her familiarity with the Alien Species.
For ordinary people, there was no difference between a two-meter Alien Species and one that was two meters forty-five — they were both equally tall and terrifying in the eyes of humans.
No sooner had the window been opened than the Alien Species on the roof eagerly stuck its head in!
With its gaping mouth spraying moisture-laden fetor, the whole car immediately filled with the stench!
Han Jiaojiao moved to Long Yueze’s side to dodge the Alien Species’ bite! But when it opened its mouth for the second time, she seized its lower jaw’s fangs with lightning speed and pulled forcefully into the car! Her other hand grasped the dagger and stabbed upwards!
The Alien Species didn’t even let out a scream before it was killed instantly.
From Long Yueze’s perspective, the dagger had pierced the palate straight into the brain, with half of Han Jiaojiao’s forearm in the mouth of the Alien Species. A few scratches adorned her snow-white arm. She slowly withdrew her hand, gently pushed the lifeless head, and the body of the Alien Species fell from the roof, tumbling into the snow——
