Chapter 543: Chapter 543: Don’t Overthink It
Liu Hong watched He Weng return to the kitchen to continue what he was doing. His lonely silhouette was heartbreaking, but she knew she couldn’t soften her heart.
There are many things in this world that can’t be explained.
Two hours later, An Zhiyuan returned, and the Bai Ju family was brought back.
This time, they went straight to the house, saving the trouble of running back and forth. Bai Yue had given An Zhiyuan the keys yesterday, so Bai Ju and her family stayed in another apartment. Now that Liu Baoguo and his wife had moved out, only their family of five remained.
After settling them in and putting down their things, he brought them over for lunch here, knowing there wasn’t much to eat at the other place.
He Wang and Bai Ju were very happy to see An Zhiyuan, as the couple hadn’t seen their soon-to-be brother-in-law for a long time. Especially after hearing that Bai Xiao and An Zhiyuan had already held their wedding, they were shocked. As her sister and brother-in-law, they knew nothing about it—which was unacceptable?
The sister got married without the family knowing.
But they couldn’t blame An Zhiyuan; they just thought about asking Bai Xiao carefully when they saw her, as they were still preparing her dowry.
Her sister got married so easily, which made them feel uncomfortable, feeling as if they had let Bai Xiao down.
They even wondered what the in-laws might be saying about Bai Xiao.
Bai Xiao came out to prepare the meal. With her sister and brother-in-law’s family visiting, they obviously needed to eat. After getting off the train, a warm and comfortable meal was appropriate, as was a good rest.
As a result, Liu Hong was helping her in the kitchen while He Weng avoided them by staying in the living room outside, which struck her as odd. They seemed not to have reconciled, but rather, it seemed their discussion had fallen apart.
Could it be that He Weng was a typical macho man who couldn’t get over whether a woman was a virgin or not?
If that was the case, then she had really misread He Weng.
The atmosphere was eerily weird.
Fortunately, Bai Ju and her family arrived soon after, and with more people, the atmosphere immediately changed. 𝚗𝚘v𝚙𝚞b.𝚌𝚘m
Seeing that Bai Ju and her family had arrived, Liu Hong and He Weng made their excuses to leave. If they didn’t, they’d end up freeloading there.
They weren’t there to freeload. Bai Xiao made He Weng promise to take Liu Hong home before she could rest easy, now unsure how to help Liu Hong.
Matters of the heart had to be resolved by the people involved. What she considered appropriate might not suit others. Speaking of which, He Weng wasn’t wrong either; everyone has their own standards and expectations. It would be unreasonable to force He Weng to accept something just because she thought Liu Hong was good—this would be imposing on him.
He Weng nodded, took the car keys, and went out with Liu Hong.
Once down at the lobby, Liu Hong really didn’t want to go back with He Weng. With the atmosphere being so awkward between them, she couldn’t bear the embarrassment of going back together.
"I have some things to take care of, you don’t need to drop me off, I’ll go by myself. You should go tend to your own matters!"
He Weng stood unmoving while Liu Hong looked at him, "Come on, go ahead!"
He Weng suddenly grabbed her hand, walked her to the car, opened the door, pushed her in, then shut the door and got into the car himself.
Liu Hong was startled.
He Weng really did have a commanding presence, the strong aura of a man, which made her heart beat wildly in fear.
"I know you don’t like me, but we are still friends, right? It’s only right for me to drive you. Don’t overthink it," He Weng said coldly, leaving those stiff words behind as he drove off.
Liu Hong gradually calmed down, her head turned to look out of the car window, her thoughts spinning rapidly.
The car pulled up to Liu Hong’s house. Her place was right next to the garment factory, just a short walk away. He Weng dropped her off and sped off like the wind.
