Chapter 916: 225: This is too amazing!_2
"That’s wonderful!" Liu Ru was overjoyed, hugging her mother tightly, "Mom, thank you! I love you!"
The mother and daughter were ecstatic, but the expression on Liu Ru’s father’s face was somewhat heavy.
After lunch, Liu Ru’s mother hailed a cab and went out on her own.
Soon, the car stopped next to an ordinary Residential Area.
Standing in front of the Residential Area, Liu Ru’s mother was filled with deep emotion; the area had changed so much over the decades.
She took a piece of paper out of her pocket and, following the address on it, arrived at the second floor.
"Room 206, this should be the place," she muttered, looking around before knocking on the door.
But after knocking for a long time, there was no response.
"What’s going on?" Liu Ru’s mother frowned slightly and raised her voice, "Is anyone there? Is anyone there?"
Instead of the door she was knocking on, the neighbor’s door at 207 opened.
"Comrade, who are you looking for?"
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Liu Ru’s mother said, "I’m looking for someone who lives here. By the way, does a doctor with the surname Jiang live here?"
"Are you here to see a doctor?" The neighbor scratched his head, looking at Liu Ru’s mother, "You look quite similar to Doctor Jiang. Are you related?"
"No no no," Liu Ru’s mother quickly denied, "I have no family connection with her. I’ve heard that she has incredible medical skills and has cured many difficult diseases, so I came to seek her treatment."
"I see," the neighbor nodded, then added, "Doctor Jiang hasn’t been around for quite a long time. We have no idea where she went."
In this era, communication was not well-developed, and there was no internet. Since Doctor Jiang was not arrested here, the neighbors had no idea she had been jailed, let alone that she had been executed.
Liu Ru’s mother frowned slightly, then continued, "How long has it been since you last saw her?"
After thinking for a moment, the neighbor replied, "About a month, I guess."
A month?
That was exactly when they had arrived in Beijing.
They had just come here and hadn’t settled down yet, so she hadn’t come to find Doctor Jiang right away.
As she spoke, the neighbor continued:
"It’s odd; when Doctor Jiang was living here, her nephew used to visit her often. But it’s been a long time since he last came, and Doctor Jiang is getting on in years, so maybe her nephew took her to live with him and enjoy her old age."
Without further conversation, Liu Ru’s mother thanked the neighbor and then turned to leave.
Had Doctor Jiang really been taken away by her nephew to enjoy her old age?
Liu Ru’s mother sighed, glancing back at the direction of the residential building, her face filled with worries.
Where on earth could she have gone?
On the way back, Liu Ru’s mother noticed a Detective Agency and walked in.
"Jiang Yan?" Xiaozhou’s face changed slightly when he saw who Liu Ru’s mother was looking for.
"Yes," Liu Ru’s mother nodded, "Could you please investigate where she is now for me? Money is not an issue; I just want to find the person."
"Then you’ll need to pay an eight hundred yuan deposit first," Xiaozhou said.
Liu Ru’s mother took out a stack of money from her bag and placed it on the table, "May I ask when you will have the results?"
Smiling, Xiaozhou replied, "Our agency is very efficient. Come back tomorrow morning, and there will be news."
Liu Ru’s mother nodded, "All right, I’ll come back tomorrow morning."
Leaving the Detective Agency, Liu Ru’s mother still looked rather troubled, an ominous feeling lurking in her heart.
Looking through the glass window at Liu Ru’s mother’s retreating figure, Xiaozhou narrowed his eyes slightly.
When Ni Yang returned to Jinghua Village, it was already past 12 p.m. She had arranged with the Boss selling televisions that he would deliver the TV at one o’clock. Seeing that it was about time, Ni Yang set off for Grandma Liu’s place.
"Sister!" Little Ni Yun suddenly called out to Ni Yang.
"Yunyun," Ni Yang looked back gently and saw Little Ni Yun holding a small bucket in one hand and a toy shovel in the other, her tender little face spotted with mud, smiling sweetly at Ni Yang.
"Grandpa, what are you doing?" Ni Yang then asked.
Old Master Zheng smiled and replied, "I’m thinking of clearing this empty space out here and then planting some flowers."
Old Master Zheng was a gardening enthusiast who loved planting flowers. The village had plenty of space, perfect for him. He saw a vacant plot next to the house and, not wanting it to go to waste, decided to turn it into a flower garden. He also planned to dig a little fishpond, so he could enjoy some fishing in his spare time.
Ni Yang nodded, then added, "If you need any help, just call me. I’m heading over to Grandma Liu’s for a bit."
