Chapter 462: Chapter 316 Tai Chi Practice
April 28, Monday.
Early morning, the temperature was just right.
Dazzling sunlight poured in from the outside window, creating a path of light where endless particles floated in the air.
Jiang Ning tied his white shoe laces and stood straight, dressed in white Tai Chi clothes.
The loose-fitting Tai Chi clothes, worn by Jiang Ning, had an indescribable elegance and freedom, as if it was inherent to him.
Jiang Ning stood in front of the mirror, looking at himself with a hint of perplexity. During the days since his return, he had always worn modern clothing; seeing himself like this now seemed like a dream of a past life.
Immediately, the fresh scent of laundry detergent from the Tai Chi clothes brought a renewed sparkle to his eyes.
The day before yesterday, Xue Yuantong had said that the school’s newly issued clothes were a bit dirty and smelled bad. She took them home, washed both sets carefully, dried them well, and then returned them to him.
Jiang Ning pushed open the door, and swathes of light jostled to enter the room, glistening on the surface of his Tai Chi clothes.
He walked all the way to the front door, looked up to see the clear weather, white clouds scattered about, with several birds circling and flying in the sky.
Next door, Xue Yuantong opened her door, saying, "The weather is really nice today, perfect for sleeping in at home."
She then looked towards Jiang Ning, seeing him in his Tai Chi clothes, appearing ethereal and free, almost like a real person from ancient times.
Xue Yuantong was stunned for a moment, and then she said, "Jiang Ning, your clothes look really nice!"
"Yo," it was rare for her to compliment someone.
"You could wear them too," Jiang Ning said.
"I’d rather not, I don’t need to practice Tai Chi," Xue Yuantong spread her hands in a helpless gesture.
As a representative speaker for the first-year students, she had the privilege not to practice Tai Chi and had never practiced it.
Jiang Ning asked, "Have you cooked the meal?"
Today’s morning self-study was canceled, which meant they could go later, instead, they needed to practice Tai Chi at school.
Xue Yuantong replied, "Just finished cooking, waiting for you to have breakfast."
It was only around 7 o’clock at this point, the temperature had not yet risen, and the morning was still refreshing.
The kitchen table was set with a simple breakfast.
Rice soup, green pepper and potato shreds, and pancakes fried with an electric baking pan, along with a bottle of beef sauce, which Aunt Gu had made at her company, generously packed with beef.
Aunt Gu had made extra, packed several bottles to take home, and left some for her daughter and Jiang Ning for breakfast.
Jiang Ning and Xue Yuantong gathered around the dining table; he took a sip of the rice soup, which tasted sweet and refreshing, not as thick as porridge.
This was made from the Spirit Rice he had brought from Hu Qi Mountain; drinking it made his whole body feel comfortable.
Xue Yuantong used a spoon to scoop some sauce, spread it on a pancake, added some potato shreds and green pepper strips, folded the pancake with a light hand, and there was a "crack" sound.
Xue Yuantong lifted the pancake and enjoyed her meal.
Jiang Ning, finding it too much trouble, alternated bites of pancake and bites of veggies.
While Xue Yuantong ate pancakes and drank rice soup, Jiang Ning only drank a few sips at the beginning, then waited to drink the rest after finishing his pancake.
After the leisurely and relaxed breakfast, Xue Yuantong ran to the door to play.
Jiang Ning was responsible for washing the pots and dishes. He didn’t use his Spiritual Power; instead, he washed by hand. Sometimes, the process of washing dishes was somewhat stress-relieving.
During this time, the phone vibrated twice with a "buzz."
Jiang’s hands were wet, so he activated his Spiritual Power, and the phone flew out of his pocket, hovering in front of him.
Yang Sheng sent a message: "I’m heading out first. Today I wore my Tai Chi clothes and got a lot of stares on the road. I should have changed at school."
As she spoke, she sent a photo.
In the picture, Yang Sheng, with short hair, looked like a female knight in her Tai Chi clothes.
Jiang Ning replied, "You go ahead, I’m about to leave."
Once Jiang Ning had finished washing the dishes, Xue Yuantong had gotten the mountain bike ready. She called from the door: 𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒑𝒖𝒃.𝙘𝙤𝒎
"Jiang Ning, stop dawdling, let’s go to school!"
"Coming." Jiang Ning’s hands swirled with Spiritual Power, drying the water droplets.
He stepped forward, and the phone floating in the air suddenly shook, tracing a curve and slipping back into his pocket.
Xue Yuantong, standing by the bicycle, waited. As Jiang Ning came out, the neighboring elders, who were eating, complimented when they saw him:
"Xiao Jiang, this outfit of yours is not bad!"
The old man was holding his food bowl, the food bought from the river dam area, very salty kind.
Jiang Ning replied, "It’s okay, school requirement."
After exchanging a few simple greetings, Jiang Ning rode the bike carrying Xue Yuantong.
Xue Yuantong sat sideways on the back seat; she was now skilled at sitting on the moving bike, her hands not needing to hold onto anything to stay stable; she could even swing her legs.
Jiang Ning’s bike was very steady, making Xue Yuantong’s ride comfortable.
As the mountain bike rode upon the big dam, Xue Yuantong simply leaned her shoulder against Jiang Ning’s back. She had a blade of grass in her mouth, enjoying the view of pedestrians on the dam road.
The golden sunlight, warm on her body, the bicycle moving along, passing people of all sorts, Xue Yuantong felt exceptionally relaxed; she really wanted to sleep in again.
"Jiang Ning, my blanket got dirty last night. I’ll wash it when we get back at noon, along with my bedsheet." Xue Yuantong said.
Her home had an automatic washing machine, which made washing sheets very convenient, no manual effort needed.
"Okay, good." Actually, it didn’t need washing; Jiang Ning had cleaned it with his Spiritual Power last night, but since she wanted to, Jiang Ning didn’t mind.
Xue Yuantong chewed on the grass for a while, then pulled out another piece from her pocket, a tender green, oblong, round piece of grass.
She peeled the outer layer with her fingertips, revealing the inside moist with juice, like white fluffy cotton. This was ’Mao Ya.’
Xue Yuantong stretched her arm, offering it to Jiang Ning’s mouth:
"Try this, it’s really tasty."
Jiang Ning opened his mouth and ate it; the Mao Ya was tender, soft, and sweet, with a refreshing flavor.
"Tasty, right?" Xue Yuantong asked him.
"Yeah, pretty tasty."
Xue Yuantong said, "When I was in elementary school, I loved picking Mao Ya the most. I have super good eyesight, and I could pick a bunch at a time, enough to satisfy in one go!"
She reminisced about those beautiful times: "Chuchu and I used to pick them together. She was clumsy and didn’t pick as much as I did, hehe."
