Chapter 124: Chapter 113: I Want to Smash the Heavens_2

Her expectations for her future son-in-law were not high, as long as he could provide her daughter with a similar standard of living and had good character. Material possessions were not her primary concern.

Wang Yan, on the other hand, was not aware of her mother’s thinking. She continued to ask, "Mom, has Dad still not returned? Didn’t he say he’d be home early today?"

"I don’t know, I couldn’t reach him when I called just now. Try again a little later. Come on Little Tang, come sit down and watch TV, have some fruit." After saying this Shi Lan placed the items brought by Tang Qing on the tea table, turned on the TV, and gave the remote control to Tang Qing.

"Okay."

Afterwards, Wang Yan picked up the living room’s landline phone and dialed her father’s number.

"Dad, why haven’t you gotten home yet? Are you still busy?"

"I’ll be done soon. I’ll be home in at most half an hour. A few things came up unexpectedly today that I am sorting out." The weary voice of her father came from the other end of the phone.

"Alright, drive slowly and take care on the road." Hearing the fatigue in her father’s voice, Wang Yan also said caringly.

After hanging up the phone, Wang Yan went to help her mother, while Tang Qing sat in the living room watching the news.

....

Half an hour later.

The cooking was almost complete, with the last soup being prepared.

Each of the three in the living room was engrossed in their thoughts while watching the TV.

"Click, click..."

The sound of the door opened suddenly. Knowing Wang Yan’s father had returned, Tang Qing immediately stood up and looked towards the doorway, ready to greet him. Wang Yan walked over to the door.

It wasn’t clear whether it was a problem with the door or the way her father was unlocking it, but Wang Yan beat him to it by opening the door herself.

A middle-aged man with a flat haircut walked in.

Tang Qing surveyed this billionaire tycoon, whom he was only familiar with from photos in Wang Yan’s mobile phone gallery. Now, Wang Yan’s father hadn’t yet reached the obesity he would in the future. Standing at about 1.7 meters, he looked somewhat thin. A spirited gleam occasionally flitted through his clear eyes, indicating that he was a very capable person.

In the meantime, Wang Sheng had also noticed Tang Qing. His first impressions were identical to his wife’s – sunny, handsome, tall, with a warm and gentle smile. He embodied all the qualities that could attract a young girl, hence it was no wonder their daughter was so smitten with him. Like his wife, ignorant of Tang Qing’s true circumstances, Wang Sheng attributed Wang Yan’s infatuation with Tang Qing to Tang Qing’s excellence.

Accustomed to the world of business, he could detect an aura of leadership around Tang Qing. This feeling was distinct from the confidence brought about by power and wealth. Instead, it conveyed an indescribable sense of fearlessness.

Of course, Wang Sheng could not possibly know about the system. With this state-of-the-art system that surpassed this world by who knows how many years, the system had demonstrated its prowess by upgrading twice so far. It was imaginable that this was merely the tip of the iceberg and the future held infinite possibilities. Therefore, Tang Qing was immensely confident about his future and naturally exuded an aura of confidence. His mindset was increasingly open.

Although he did not know where Tang Qing’s confidence came from, Wang Sheng concluded from his first glance that Tang Qing was a man of extraordinary talent. He would make an excellent son-in-law. The only uncertainty was whether the two youngsters shared the necessary destiny to be together.

"Dad, this is Tang Qing. Tang Qing, this is my dad, Wang Sheng." Wang Yan introduced them.

"Hello, Uncle Wang." Tang Qing replied, bending slightly in a show of politeness.

"You’re a young man of excellent character and spirit. Well done." Wang Sheng approved of Tang Qing even more upon observing him. The four qualities he valued most when evaluating people were humility, caution, lack of arrogance, and impatience. He initially thought that Tang Qing, having achieved some success, would be a bit haughty. However, Tang Qing’s attitude made him think even more highly of him.

"Uncle Wang, you flatter me. I see that you are in the prime of your life, brimming with energy and vigor," Tang Qing replied humbly.

"Ha ha, you’re good with words, young man," Wang Sheng laughed heartily.

In a short while, the soup was ready, and everyone took their seats at the table, ready to start the meal.

"Little Tang, would you like a drink?" Wang Sheng asked, pouring himself a glass of Wuliangye.

Before Tang Qing could reply, Wang Yan started complaining: "Dad, Tang Qing doesn’t drink."

"What kind of man doesn’t drink? Surely you can handle beer, right?" Wang Sheng asked, ignoring his daughter. He didn’t exactly want Tang Qing to drink, but felt that a bit of alcohol was crucial for the purpose of the meal - how else would people open up without a little alcohol to loosen the conversation? Even he knew he would be disappointed again; drinking alcohol was hardly different for Tang Qing now than drinking water. In the face of his Origin Energy’s detoxifying power, the chance of getting him drunk was basically zero.

"Alright then, I’ll follow Uncle Wang’s advice." Not hearing Tang Qing express rejection, Wang Sheng continued asking. His words had transformed countless teetotalers into alcoholics – somewhat akin to moral blackmail.

"Little Tang, I’ve heard from my daughter about your circumstances. You’re quite remarkable: good grades and having your own company. Nevertheless, I’d still like to find out where the money to start the company came from." After clinking glasses a few times, Wang Sheng cut right to the chase.

"I borrowed it. Happens that I inadvertently helped a powerful person who then lent me a large sum of money with no interest, so I thought about starting my own business to earn some money," Tang Qing answered without batting an eyelid, sticking to his ’truth’. Wang Yan had mentioned this to him on the way here and had also reminded him to seek her father’s advice on conducting business, which naturally moved him.

This was the second narrative invented for the allocation of Sheng Tang Apparel’s shares. The first was given to Zhang Dongqing - that Tang Qing was in partnership with a hidden figure and only held a certain number of shares as a front. Clearly, that version was to pacify Zhang Dongqing. If he knew Tang Qing was risking his money in the clothing business, Zhang Dongqing would surely have tried to dissuade him vehemently. Since it was now too late to change things, that narrative was obviously no longer applicable.
