Chapter 164: Chapter 144: Double Kill_2
In order to prevent Cao Xu from picking up the pistol and hurting Wei Jun, Tang Qing didn’t stand on ceremony. He fired three shots at the pistol on the ground, disabling it.
"Let’s see what you can do now," Tang Qing smirked coldly. The entire rescue operation was concluded at this point. An injured Cao Xu without his gun was no longer a threat. Even if he had a knife, Wei Jun could easily handle Cao Xu with his bare hands. However, Tang Qing couldn’t relax entirely. He kept his gaze on Wei Jun’s direction. He was very tempted to fire a round of bullets at Wei Jun’s field, but the thought of Cao Xu’s potential gruesome fate gave him the creeps. He couldn’t do it.
After realizing that his gun was destroyed, Cao Xu was dumbfounded. With his gun destroyed, how was he supposed to fight back? As for the knife Tang Qing was worried about, he didn’t have one. He was so used to using a gun that he rarely used a knife.
Cao Xu took a deep breath.
This place was too dangerous. If his opponent was an assassin, he would be done for.
This was not the time to sit around and wait for death.
Looking at the nearby river, Cao Xu began to form a plan.
He took a deep breath, covered his injured arm, and prepared to catch them off guard. Taking advantage of the night, even if the other party had night vision equipment, his chances of escaping were still high. So, he abruptly stood up and ran towards the riverside.
However, dreams were beautiful, but reality was harsh.
Just as Cao Xu barely managed to run a couple of steps towards the river, Tang Qing shot him in the leg.
"Ah...spare me..."
Cao Xu immediately fell to the ground, clutching his wound and begging for his life. He posed absolutely no threat now.
Strong dynamic vision and the predictive ability honed from fighting training completely eliminated the impact of the nocturnal environment.
After dealing with both of them, Tang Qing had no intention of going up and interacting with Wei Jun. He didn’t have the time to court further trouble. He didn’t know if anyone else had heard the gunshots and reported to the police. He needed to leave in case anything unexpected happened.
The Wei Jun duo laid on the ground, somewhat confused about the situation. Who had helped them? At first, they thought it was the police. However, the help was too violent. The opposite party didn’t leave any chance for them and directly shot them. Then, there was no policeman coming out and saying don’t move. The duo wanted to leave, but they were sure the person who fired the gun had night vision equipment. Without the gunmen’s consent, they were caught between a rock and a hard place.
Tang Qing saw them staying there and understood what they were thinking. He fired a shot directly at the guns on the ground in front of them. The riverside was not a cement ground. His own gun shot into the field and directly drilled in. They probably couldn’t see it. As for whether it’ll accidentally hurt people, Tang Qing didn’t care. If their luck was that bad, it wasn’t his fault.
"Ding..."
Upon seeing the gun in front of them being hit and moving side-to-side, the duo was scared and quickly retreated a few steps, remaining clueless about what had just happened.
Judging from the way Wei Jun only retreated a little, Tang Qing fired two more shots at the gun lying in front of Wei Jun. The gun was probably defunct by now.
All three shots hit the same gun. It’s apparent that their attacker was pretty accurate. The duo immediately understood what Tang Qing meant---It was time to leave.
Wei Jun shared a glance with his partner, nodded, and reminiscent of the moonlight, fled. They knew they hadn’t encountered police; no law enforcement officer would have let them go.
They made up their minds to run to the countryside and then call the police. It was their only option. They decided not to head into the county town yet, to avoid bumping into other pursuers. They still didn’t know how many people were out to kill them. It was better to be safe than sorry.
Upon realizing that the two men understood his message, Tang Qing sighed with relief. But the corpses on the other side and the firearms on the ground were a huge headache. A lot of people would be terrified tomorrow, or maybe even tonight, if they were discovered.
Damn it, Chuck it! It’s not his problem, the more he did, the more mistakes he was likely to make. If he was caught by the police while disposing of the bodies, he would be screwed.
Tang Qing quickly picked up the cartridges and briskly walked down the factory building. He picked up an old broom and quickly cleaned up the observable traces. Lastly, he threw the shoes into the river. The factory had accumulated a lot of dust due to lesser human visits. Trouble would be on his doorstep if somebody tracked him using the footprints.
What a shitty day.
He couldn’t help but envy the characters who could just disappear. It would’ve been so easy to destroy the evidence. Unfortunately, the system that could provide this sort of functionality wasn’t enabled for him. It didn’t tell him anything, making him want to curse. Luckily, the cartridges used up could be stored within the system as well. Otherwise, he would’ve had to figure out a way to get rid of the cartridges. If he had to do that, he would indeed be screwed. He’d also have to figure out a way to get rid of his fingerprints. He could possibly leave his scent behind and be discovered by a police dog, which would be an absolute living nightmare.
After cleaning up all the traces that could possibly link back to him, Tang Qing quickly climbed the wall back into the neighborhood. It was already past three o’clock in the morning. He could not afford to delay. He used the powerful forces of the wall to propel him upwards, and in a few leaps, he was up on his own window sill and crawled in. When he saw that nothing in his house was anomaly, Tang Qing finally let out a sigh of relief.
Lying on the sofa, Tang Qing felt that he’d gone completely mad. He’d gone out in the middle of the night to kill people. He’d received nothing but risked plenty. He had a lump in his brain, for sure. Thankfully, he hadn’t seen any real blood. Otherwise, he would have been disturbed for several days.
