Chapter 172: Chapter 149: Arrest (Subscribe!)_3
"Stop the car."
"Hey, Officer Liu, you guys are on duty today? Come, have a cigarette." Seeing the police, Qin Kong was not alarmed but unusually delighted. He walked up and offered a cigarette, trying to show off his connections in front of Lin Jiaxue. Look, the police are my buddies.
However, as soon as he approached, Officer Liu and his partner immediately grabbed him by the arms and pushed him to the ground, beginning to frisk him.
Normally when dealing with someone with a gun, they should first draw their firearms and instruct the person not to move. But they knew Qin Kong was a regular who was all bark and no bite. Every time they ran into him, he was subservient, making it hard for them to believe he would pull a gun and stand off with them.
"Officer Liu, what are you doing? I am a law-abiding citizen." Qin Kong, pinned to the ground, cried out in panic.
"Who’s your ’Officer Liu?’ Call me Officer Liu. Law-abiding citizen? Then why do you have a gun? Stay still." As he was speaking, his partner had found the Type 54 pistol. Officer Liu said coldly. Their chief was watching from the car, he dared not be courteous. Although they were surprised that Qin Kong had a firearm, it wasn’t a big deal. Although sales of firearms are prohibited, many people still managed to get them. Fretting over this was pointless. This unfortunate kid just happened to cross paths with them.
"This... this isn’t mine." Qin Kong immediately said in panic. He dared not admit that the gun was his, surely he would end up in jail if he did. Although the sentence wouldn’t be long, who would relish a stint in prison? Freedom was much better.
"Then whose is it?" Officer Liu asked with a cold smirk.
"I... I... found it. I was about to turn it into you guys." Qin Kong, initially feeling terrified, wanted to disclose the true owner of the gun. It was borrowed from his adopted elder brother who, impressed by his good behaviors, lent it to him for a few days. But then he realized that if he spilled the beans, he’d be doomed. So he quickly changed his statement, trying to take responsibility for it.
As he was trying to ’take the rap,’ he suddenly realized the policeman’s question was leading. He was rethinking things: as long as he didn’t admit the gun was his or his elder brother’s, wasn’t he safe?
After saying this, Qin Kong let out a sigh of relief and praised himself for his quick wit.
Tang Qing also smirked upon seeing this, realizing there are really few fools in this world. As long as Qin Kong insists that he found this gun, the worst that could happen was temporary detainment on suspicion. But that was enough, as long as he didn’t have to see this guy during the Chinese New Year.
"Humph, found it, huh? Let’s go back to the station and you can explain how you found it." Officer Liu let out a cold chuckle. Their chief was in the car, who heard that the alarm was raised by Zheng Xiu himself and personally ordered for it to be handled appropriately. They weren’t fools. The four words said by the chief definitely didn’t mean giving bonuses to Qin Kong. They knew what they had to do. They had no sympathy for such scum. Officer Liu had always wanted to strangle Qin Kong for his misconduct. But since Qin Kong merely violated the law without committing a crime, he was untouchable if they followed the normal process. Plus, Qin Kong was still a minor. The most they could do was sending him to a juvenile detention center.
After the two officers pushed Qin Kong into the back seat of the car, he didn’t think too much about it. He blamed this on his bad luck. There were quite a few people who knew about the gun from his elder brother. There were also many who wanted to see him in trouble. The gun had been lent out to play quite a few times by his elder brother there were never any bullets in it and nothing serious had ever happened. He thought someone must have let something slip. Anyways, once inside, all he had to do was deny everything. The police wouldn’t do anything to him. His only fear was how to explain it to his elder brother when he got out.
