Chapter 192: Chapter 161: The Six Functionality Zones (Please Subscribe!)_1
The highest attribute of the exchangeable robots is only two hundred. Comparatively, this is not as impressive as the rumored Level 98’s monstrous limit. Therefore, Tang Qing speculated that this should be related to his own attributes. Otherwise, why wouldn’t the products offered by the system exceed two hundred? But it was enough for now. Thinking of the fact that there would be a stronger opponent for him to spar with, Tang Qing became a little excited.
He had no choice, being against Han Leng and Sun Chao, he couldn’t use his full strength. If he went easy, he’d be bullied, if he went all out, they couldn’t take it. Meanwhile, Han Leng and Sun Chao seemed to be enjoying themselves each time they sparred.
Now, he could exchange for a stronger opponent without worrying about them trying to kill him. Tang Qing instantly felt an impulse to try it out. As for why he thought a Level 2 soldier would be stronger than him, it was not only about the attributes, but also the so-called mastery of all soldier skills. Even though he didn’t know what those were specifically, if the system recognized them as masteries, they must be impressive.
"Little Two, what does it mean by ’mastery of all soldier skills’? What skills are there?" Tang Qing asked, though he had a guess. It could be that there were too many skills and Little Two synthesized them. After all, a competent soldier needed to master a vast array of basic skills. If they were all displayed, it might be overwhelming.
"Commander, the soldier skills include unarmed and armed combat, firearm mastery, vehicle driving, medical first aid, disguise, interrogation, survival in all environments, basic cooking, demolition, languages, basic computer science, basic communication, basic social skills... A soldier can take on all combat and non-combat duties on land, sea, and air. Skills related to command, intelligence, and staff officer roles are not included. All skills except languages will be embedded by default during the exchange." Little Two answered.
Little Two mentioned almost twenty skills in one breath. Tang Qing didn’t bother to count, because he became more and more amazed as he listened, his mouth opening wider and wider.
After listening, Tang Qing felt a bit dazed.
These skills sounded so cool, and each of these robots seemed to be an all-rounded warrior king. Considering that, one to two million each was simply a bargain, and their absolute loyalty was another bonus.
After regaining his composure, Tang Qing grew eager. He, too, wanted to ’gain without laboring’, even if it cost some money. The most important thing was that it would save time. So, he asked expectantly, "Little Two, can I learn these skills?"
"Yes, commander, there is a simulation training area in the Combat Dispatch Center. You can learn any skill from any robot that has mastered it, free of charge," Little Two answered.
That wasn’t what Tang Qing wanted to hear. He was looking for instant mastery, not gradually learning. He immediately asked, "Little Two, can’t I just learn them instantly? After all, the robots do."
"Commander, the robots receive memory imprints during synthesis, so it doesn’t affect them. However, you must unlock Level Ten gene lock to withstand the memory imprint of the skills from the Combat Dispatch Center. If you use it without reaching Level Ten, the success rate is only ten percent, and failure could lead to irreversible permanent damage," Little Two explained.
Tang Qing pursed his lips and asked again, "System, when I was reborn, that also counted as memory imprinting, right? How come I was fine then?"
He had accepted Little Two’s explanation, but he wanted the system’s confirmation. Being doused with cold water so unexpectedly didn’t sit right with him, so he had to get to the bottom of it.
"Host, your brain was under system protection at the time, so it could withstand massive memory transfer. However, the system no longer provides overloading protection for memory imprinting," the system replied.
"System, wouldn’t it work to exchange them little by little, instead of all the skills at once?" Tang Qing asked, refusing to give up. Exchanging for all skills at once would undoubtedly be overwhelming, but it should be fine to do so little by little, right?
"The overloading caused by memory imprinting is not related to the amount imprinted, but to the body’s bearing capacity," the system delivered Tang Qing another blow.
Tang Qing didn’t ask any more. Disappointed, he dropped his face. The system simply told him to wait and see: wait until you unlock Level Ten gene lock. Seriously, if I reach that stage, I would have learned them all on my own. Do I still need you to imprint them for me?
Do you really think my learning ability is just for show? This is totally a chicken rib.
That was the only way he could comfort himself. Even though he complained internally, the idea of gaining without laboring was still tempting.
"By the way, Little Two, how many functional areas are there? You just mentioned a training area." Tang Qing suddenly remembered Little Two mentioned a training area. Looking at the huge command room, he figured it must be massive if it’s measured by "area".
"Commander, the Combat Dispatch Center is divided into six functional areas: the Command Room, the Living Area, the Simulation Training Area, the Logistics and Equipment Area, the Transmission Area, and the Research and Production Area. All basic modules in the six areas have been activated," Little Two replied.
He understood the rest, but what was the Transmission Area?
It sounded very advanced. Could it be a teleportation array?
"Little Two, what’s the purpose of the Transmission Area, I mean, where does it teleport to?" Tang Qing pondered and asked. If it’s only teleporting to other unopened areas within the Comprehensive Service Center, there would be no point in using it. It would also be pointless to teleport within the Combat Dispatch Center. But, if it can teleport outside, that would be thrilling.
"Commander, the Transmission Area is used to teleport fighters and equipment to locations that have relative Transmission Nodes. It is also used to transport matter to Transmission Areas in other parts of the Comprehensive Service Center", Little Two explained.
"Relative Transmission Nodes? What is that?" Tang Qing asked again.
"Relative Transmission Nodes are portable teleportation devices. Commander, you only need to place it on a flat surface to position and teleport personnel and equipment. Since you, Commander, can’t carry anything except for the items you bring with yourself, you can also use the Transmission Area to teleport to any relative Transmission Node outside", Little Two explained.
Tang Qing nodded. It made sense that teleportation would need a positioning device; otherwise, how would it identify coordinates? Teleportation without a target would be disastrous—potentially sending people underground. It’s easy to understand the latter part: he could teleport anywhere within the system with his items. Clearly, the center’s admission of personnel isn’t directly managed by the system, but rather it seems like Little Two has been given a teleportation interface to handle things.
What a lazy system.
"So how many sets of Node devices do we have?" Tang Qing asked again.
This was what he really cared about. If there were a couple of hundred sets of Node devices that could be scattered across the world, it would be exhilarating. He wouldn’t even need to take a plane to go out. It wasn’t about saving money on airfare, but rather the advantage of security. No one could track his entry and exit records, providing alibis when he does shady things.
Moreover, he wouldn’t have to worry about being blown out of the sky by a missile. It’s not being paranoid, given the system’s current auxiliary functions, even a fool would know what kind of enemies he’d have in the future. If he was alone in his private jet, his enemy would undoubtedly send missiles. This wasn’t an exaggeration.
"Commander, for each level you advance, you get one set of Node device. Currently, the Transmission Area only has one set of Node device", replied Little Two.
Listening to this, Tang Qing was rather disappointed. It looked like he was thinking too much. How could such a big BUG appear? Hundreds and hundreds of sets? This isn’t cabbage!
Curious, Tang Qing then toured each place under Little Two’s guidance. The Center provides transport that’s somewhat similar to a flying skateboard. It’s mind-controlled, super-fast, reaching top speeds of over 300 kilometers per hour. At first, he thought about taking it out for a spin, but Little Two said it’s wireless and useless outside, so he dropped the idea.
The more he saw, the more amazed he became.
The system was indeed amazing, worthy of the title "District". The Living Area, Transmission Area, and Research Area were roughly the same size, only about four or five times larger than the Command Room. While the Transmission Area is relatively vacant, the Living Area was even bigger than the Combat Room, reaching hundreds of meters in height and filled with numerous buildings with up to twenty or so floors. Facilities for dining, living, leisure, and sports are all available.
But right now, there was nothing there. He would need to buy robots to act as workers in the future. Just thinking about it made him want to vent: cooking needs people, farming needs people, and these people have to be played by the soldiers. This was such a wasteful setup! The most crucial thing was his money, the cheapest one cost a million.
Of course, he could only complain in his heart. Being addressed as Commander by Little Two, he couldn’t throw a fit over money.
The Research Area was the same, empty buildings everywhere. Tang Qing heard from Little Two that future researchers could be exchanged. Now, only the Exchange Center controlled by Little Two was running.
He could accept the size of the Logistics and Equipment Area, it was only about ten times bigger than the previous two combined, with empty equipment racks and even water. Tang Qing guessed it was to store some marine equipment.
But what the heck was with the Simulation Training Area?
This was rather huge, its size at least thousands of square kilometers. Creator of the system, this was too lavish! If this was turned into a spatial ring, wouldn’t it go against the heavens? Tang Qing couldn’t help but complain. The system had such a huge space, but until now, it was not willing to give even a cubic storage equipment, it was inevitable to feel a little resentment inside.
He gave up thinking, they could teleport to another dimension now, what does it matter if it’s a bit bigger? Just broaden his imagination a bit.
It took nearly an hour for Tang Qing to finish touring each area before returning to the Command Room. He had to start building.
