Chapter 255: Chapter 213: Poor Lei Yang_1

One hour later.

Having watched the entire interrogation video of Tomohisa Ide, Tang Qing hadn’t the slightest clue whether to say "damn it" or not.

The entire story was cliché.

Based on Tomohisa Ide’s confession, Tang Qing had fully confirmed that his family’s car accident in his previous life was in fact a setup; a trap orchestrated by Tomohisa Ide to destroy the Pengyun Group.

The cause was a business dispute between Ide and Lei Peng. The villa area where Lei Peng currently resided was originally earmarked by Ide for his own development. He had almost finalized the plan, but because of a leak from his team, Lei Peng seized the opportunity and quickly grabbed the parcel of land with the help of his strong local connections. Lei Peng even duplicated Ide’s development and operational plan without substantial alterations.

This infuriated Ide so much that he almost lost his sanity. The feud was no secret in the province and his resentment was intense. However, Ide was not strong enough to confront Lei Peng, neither overtly nor covertly. Although he wished to hire an assassin to end Lei Peng’s life, such action could entirely backfire. Given the current scenario, his grievance with Lei Peng was the deepest. Acting upon his wish could lead to his downfall even without hard evidence from the police, let alone his future prospects in the province.

So, Ide aimed his revenge at other aspects of Lei Peng’s life, which led him to investigate potential ways to get back at him.

Fate empathizes with those who persevere: Lei Yang, a self-destructive man, gradually caught Ide’s attention. Ide realized that he just needed a spark to ignite Lei Yang’s self-destruction, which resulted in Ide getting close to Lei Yang with a series of plans in mind.

Meanwhile, Tang Qing learned about a more absurd piece of information: Lei Yang was not Lei Peng’s biological son.

As to whose son he was, even Ide didn’t know. The genetic report just confirmed that Lei Peng and Lei Yang didn’t share any blood ties. Even Lei Peng’s wife wasn’t Lei Yang’s biological mother.

Ide’s plan was to construct the entire event as: a terrified Lei Yang seeking help from Lei Peng; and as the issue got out of hand, Lei Peng would certainly urge Lei Yang to surrender. At this point, Lei Yang, having discovered his true lineage, was empowered with malevolent courage and ’killed’ Lei Peng. Lei Yang would then be imprisoned, and the Lei Family assets would be contested. Lei Peng’s wife and Lei Liang would have arguments over property distribution. Finally, Lei Peng’s bodyguard, in a zealous attempt to protect his employer, would inadvertently kill Lei Liang and frame Lei Peng’s wife. Lastly... the Pengyun Group fell apart.

To avoid attention, although Ide wouldn’t receive a cent from the collapse of Pengyun Group, he was satisfied, as the mere act of revenge sufficed. He relished the feeling of ’being in command’. Of course, there were a lot of calculations involved to set the entire event in this direction.

Hearing Ide’s plan in its entirety.

Tang Qing was speechless. It was another messy tale of the conflict between wealthy families.

His family’s demise was merely a pawn in a greater game.

Now, many uncertainties were cleared: why his parents died in the car accident, why Lei Yang stopped trying to retaliate, and why the Lei couple didn’t try to sabotage them over the years even though they knew Lei Yang was not their biological son. Without the support of the Lei couple, Lei Yang wasn’t even capable of exacting revenge. Without Ide’s support during this time, Lei Yang would not even have had enough money to spend leisurely.

As for the news about his own uncle, it was simply a ruse structured by Ide to infuriate Lei Yang enough to make him lose his reasoning and agree to this crazy car accident scheme in the first place.

Tang Qing was overwhelmed after getting all the details.

This was a mind-boggler.

How was he going to handle all this?

Ide, the culprit, must definitely be handled. If he did not kill him, Tang Qing wouldn’t be able to let go of his resentment. But what should he do with the Lei family?

Damn it.

Why did the relationship of this family have to be this complicated? Why couldn’t they all be villains? It really put him in a conundrum.

Tang Qing thought for a moment and then said, "Tang Yi, deal with Tomohisa Ide the same way we handled Ba Song, extract any useful information from him and then send him on his way. As for Lei Yang... let him meet with an ’unfortunate incident’."

But just as he finished speaking, Tang Yi’s voice resonated.

"Commander, new information has come in."

"What information?"

"We just learned from Lei Peng and his wife that they discovered fifteen years ago that Lei Yang wasn’t their biological son – he was switched at the hospital. As for who their biological son is, they have already found him but haven’t acknowledged him yet," said Tang Yi.

"What?" Tang Qing exclaimed in surprise, standing up.

This plot twist was so awkward it made him cringe.

"Commander, new information. It was that family who purposely conspired with a nurse to swap the baby, with the goal of allowing their child to live a better life," Tang Yi continued.

"WHAT?" Tang Qing, astonished, blurted out his surprise in English.

Tang Yi repeated his words.

Tang Qing leaned back in his chair, massaging his temples. The development of this whole situation was so melodramatic. Really ... poor Lei Peng’s family had been raising someone else’s child for over thirty years. And they even ended up making him a cripple. Now, they probably wanted to give him back, but no one would want him.

"Do they plan to keep pretending forever?" Tang Qing asked weakly.

"No, they are planning to reveal the truth at the end of the year and compensate the other party with some money," Tang Yi replied.

"Aren’t they afraid of Lei Yang seeking revenge?" Tang Qing asked curiously.

Tang Yi replied, "Commander, Lei Peng just said that if Lei Yang goes rogue, an accident might happen to him."

"You mean Lei Peng might kill Lei Yang?" Tang Qing asked, astounded. But after thinking about it, it sounded plausible. Lei Peng’s business wasn’t built by being a kind man. Anyone who laid a hand on his own son would not be spared, not even Lei Yang.

"No, at most they’ll let him be sentenced to life imprisonment," Tang Yi clarified.

"Sigh... poor Lei Yang," Tang Qing murmured, rubbing his temples again. Indeed, while he was plotting his own death, Lei Peng was also prepared to throw him in jail, and his biological parents probably didn’t want such an onerous son either.

Poor Lei Yang.

He started to feel a little sympathetic towards him.

Oh, well, consider it as lending Lei Peng a hand. No matter how pitiful Lei Yang might be, wasn’t he pitiful in his previous life too?

Moreover, even if Lei Yang had not been crippled by his second uncle, Lei Peng, such a man, would never allow Lei Yang to stay and inherit property. His fate would always have been the same, if not worse. If Lei Yang had been thriving all these years, Lei Peng might even go to the extent of making Lei Yang and his family disappear.

"Tang Yi, let Lei Yang turn into a vegetable. There will probably be only hatred left in his heart. It’s better he gets liberated sooner," Tang Qing decided.

Sympathy is one thing, but a latent threat needed to be eradicated. Like how in novels, the protagonists know that they profited from pitiful investors in the stock market using their hard-earned money, but didn’t they continue to count their money happily?

Did they do anything wrong?

Of course, they didn’t. Like a job search, you can’t really give your position to someone who was let go.

Human society, in essence, is like the animal world. Compassion can exist, but not mercy.

"Yes, Commander."

Upon finishing, Tang Yi began to execute the operation against Lei Yang. It probably had been prepared long before. It only took five minutes to complete the task, and Lei Yang ended up with injuries to his spine and brain that basically left him in a vegetative state.

Ten minutes later, Lei Peng received a call saying Lei Yang got drunk, got into a fight, and was severely injured and unconscious.

Half an hour later, Lei Yang, who was rushed to the hospital, was confirmed as being in a vegetative state.

Seeing the situation, Lei Peng and his wife didn’t know whether to be happy or sad, but the happiness definitely outweighed the sadness. After all, Lei Yang wasn’t their real son. His life or death had nothing to do with them. If they hadn’t been together for so many years, they wouldn’t even share a fraction of sadness. Or perhaps, from the day they found out that Lei Yang wasn’t their son, they had treated him as a stranger. Now at most he was someone they knew.

"Honey, what should we do?"

"What else can we do? Let’s use our money to take care of him for the rest of his life."

"Now I worry that his family won’t agree. They’re likely to demand a lot of money."

"Hmph, they dared to plot against me. I didn’t settle the score with them to save face. Now, just because he’s not my son, they think they can bully him as they please? That child has suffered a lot of beatings. If it weren’t for the consideration that they raised my own son, I would have killed them."

"Woo, that child has really suffered. I can still see a clear scar on his face. He even has to give three thousand out of his monthly wage to his mother. Next month, give some more benefits to his department."

"Alright, I understand. Let’s go and figure out a way to get our son home earlier."

...

After listening to the couple’s conversation in the command room, Tang Qing was at a loss for words. From his point of view, everyone is a pitiful character actually.

"Tang Yi, keep an eye on these two for the next year. If there’s no threat, cancel Plan #6793."

"Aye, Commander."
