Chapter 309: Chapter 251: Max-Level Player, Poor Chai Ren (Subscription Requested!)_1

This attempted kidnapping was known to the command room even before the fighters acted. There were no other instigators, it was just these people trying to make quick cash on their own. They got wind of Liu Qian and his team through a bribed waiter at the Hilton Hotel, and then planned to extort them.

The reason why they targeted Chai Ren was simply due to their hastily made plan. Compared to local tycoons, the Chinese are not as guarded, and since these people had just arrived in the United States, the chances of them having guns were extremely low. Thus, they hastily acted, never expecting to encounter a solid steel wall.

On the other hand, the New York police weren’t just sitting idle. The absence of any casualties or tangible leads didn’t mean they would let go of the case. It couldn’t possibly be that way, If it were, they’d be facing the wrath of all American taxpayers.

When the surveillance video was restored, they immediately found information about the nearby vehicle owners and the surveillance footage from the shops nearby with the eyewitnesses. After half a day of taking statements and investigations, various experts and the New York police analyzed the case, ultimately discovering some useful information — that the two groups of people are no ordinary individuals.

Of course, this ridiculous conclusion couldn’t possibly end their work.

But how could the surveillance video processed by the system lead any clues to Liu Qian and his team? One of the principles of protecting the target is to avoid involving the police as much as possible, especially inside the office. The robots in the command room couldn’t afford to lose that man. Otherwise, they would have directly called the police which would have been easier than dispatching fighters. The command room avoids interacting with the police to prevent any complications. They never bother others unless it is absolutely needed.

So, the various finely altered and tampered surveillance videos gave the New York Police nothing. Unless one of the kidnappers called the police, they would rack their brains but still wouldn’t be able to connect anything to Liu Qian and his team.

In the end, of course, there was no resolution. This was no ordinary case. Without any victims found or people missing, the police could only collect evidence and gather information from various sources. When needed, such as when a victim steps forward, they could use it.

But their wait would ultimately be in vain.

A baffling kidnapping case ended mysteriously. The police hadn’t even come knocking, not even a phone call of inquiry, leaving Chai Ren and his group feeling puzzled.

But it didn’t matter if they didn’t understand.

They needed to leave this place first.

...

Liu Qian and Chai Ren returned to the Hilton Hotel, packed up quickly, and Liu Qian had already decided to get a gun permit for his bodyguard. Whenever he was in the United States, he felt insecurer without a gun. This was the first time he encountered such a thing, moreover in broad daylight.

If he was taken hostage...that would make a big deal, and he could possibly lose his life here.

Therefore, he was extremely grateful to the fighters.

"We’d like to check out from these two suites." Upon arriving at the hotel lobby, Liu Qian handed over his room cards.

"Ok sir. Were you dissatisfied with our services?" The blue-eyed blonde receptionist scanned the records that showed the rooms were booked for a week, asking this, as she needed to understand what must have caused the unexpected check-out.

"No, there’s an emergency." Chai Ren shook his head. He had no idea that he was betrayed by a hotel staff member, otherwise, he would not have let it go. But the fighters were not obligated to enlightip>Afterwards, the whole group headed northwest in the state of New York.

Only part of the over hundred thousand square kilometers of the state of New York is occupied by the well-developed manufacturing and financial service industries of New York City, the rest are thousands of large and small farms.

Chai Ren’s destination this time was a farm owned by a Chinese friend, who was also a former classmate. After his parents passed away in a car accident, he took over the family’s farm here, mainly growing grapes and cherries and raising a few cattle and livestock.

The distance from New York City to the farm was just over two hundred kilometers and the fighters went on, moving at a ’turtle speed’ of over 80 miles per hour on the expressway. To ensure safety for the off-road vehicle behind them, and also because time was no essence, they decided to keep their pace slow.

"Xiao Zhu, speed up. Remind those going to the farm to be careful. I’ve already notified them; you just need to find someone upon reaching there. The phone number is XXX, he’ll show you around..."

"Brother Liu, everything is settled. We just need to sign the contract. You need to get in touch with equipment suppliers for the mine. The shipment should leave next week and take about a month to arrive..."

"Chen Shao, we are good to go. The 50 million US dollars need to be transferred within a week. Yes, I know what to do..."

...

Chai Ren was busy on the phone, arranging various things in the car. He no longer had any major business in the United States. Once the survey was completed, he would fly back home to sign the contract. Originally, he had planned to stay in New York City for a week, but now it looked as though the next couple of weeks would be spent at the farm.

It wasn’t that Chai Ren was scared. After sensing danger, his only concern would be to hire a few more bodyguards. It was just that he was no longer in the mood to explore and he wanted to get this over with as he yearned to go fishing and hunting at his friend’s farm. He had even already notified his friend that he will be staying for around two weeks.

A few hours later.

Chai Ren and his group arrived at the farm which belongs to his friend.

No one led. When leaving, only a general location and the farm’s name were reported. The soldier then said he understood and continued driving quietly forward.

Understood?

At that time, even Chai Ren was a bit speechless.

This wasn’t an urban area or a town. It was a remote farm that wouldn’t even be marked on a map.

However, it wasn’t until he saw the familiar terrain and farm name that Chai Ren truly understood what the soldier meant by "understood." He couldn’t help but wonder if the soldier had an internal GPS; all he did was mention a name.

And just like that, they arrived.

Chai Ren and Liu Qian had nothing to say. The things they had experienced the past few days made them feel like unworldly hicks.

For everyone else, it was as though they were playing a game.

A story about a fully leveled soldier leading two RMB players in a game of pretend.

...

Upon arriving at the entrance of the farm, they saw a large Ford pickup parked next to a huge rock from a distance. And when I say huge, it was nearly ten meters high. Its tip was pointed and its base was thick. The four large characters ’Mu Zhi Farm’ were carved on it and painted in red. The most interesting part was that there was also a graffiti-styled ’stick figure’ painted on it by a child.

A young man stood beside the pickup truck, with a robust Chinese man standing next to him. He watched with a smile as Chai Ren’s car approached.

Upon seeing Chai Ren get out of the car, the young man walked up to him and greeted, "Hi, Boss Chai, long time no see."

"Scumbag, you remembered to pick me up." Chai Ren said sullenly.

"Of course not. I just came back from shopping and thought I might as well wait here. You said you could find your way here, didn’t you? You don’t need me to fetch you." The young man retorted.

"You insincere bastard. By the way, when did you get this rock? Where’s the wooden sign?" Chai Ren pointed at the large rock and asked. Unlike his earlier annoyance, he didn’t seem to mind the young man’s attitude. The two were good friends and enjoyed banter. The young man was also of Chinese heritage but had lived in the United States for a long time and therefore didn’t care about Chai Ren’s status. In the United States, he even helped Chai Ren settle quite a few things.

While Chai Ren was a big shot in China, the young man held the power here. There wasn’t any issue of one being superior to the other. He was also one of Chai Ren’s best friends in the states, especially considering the young man’s family had connections in the American political world. Chai Ren wouldn’t dare underestimate him.

"It’s been around for over a month. I thought it gives off a better impression. The previous sign was too ugly, not intimidating at all." The young man responded, laughing.

"True, that wooden sign looked like a memorial arch." Chai Ren scoffed.

"Get lost! You’re the one setting up memorial arches." The young man playfully chided.

Chai Ren then pointed at the stick figure on the stone and asked, "What’s with that stick figure? I hope that isn’t your masterpiece; it’s quite ugly." There weren’t many things he could find to ridicule this guy about.

"Haha. My daughter wanted to draw it. She kept calling you a stick figure last time. While carving these characters, I thought I’d amuse my daughter by asking what else she wanted to paint on it. She recalled the time you were chased and bitten by our dog, hence she suggested that we paint you.

Finally, I let my daughter use her imagination, and she painted this portrait of you on the stone, as per her own design. Initially, she even wanted to draw a pup chasing after you, but that dog died early this year, so it was left out. How do you like it?" The man couldn’t help but laugh just thinking about it.

Like it, my ass!

Chai Ren was speechless. It felt like karma; picking up a rock just to drop it on his own foot. But he couldn’t exactly get mad at a kid. He found that he had never won an argument against this classmate of his. He always thought he was an eloquent man, but he always ended up losing against this old friend.

"Good, very good! You just wait. I’ll paint a large portrait of you at the entrance of my house." Chai Ren gritted his teeth. This ’grudge’ had to be avenged. One wasn’t enough; he’d paint two.

"Alright, then. Let’s see who can draw a better likeness." The young man seemed interested.

"Hmph! Why don’t we see who can draw the least resemblance?" Chai Ren grunted.

"Because I can’t beat you at that." The young man said matter-of-factly, implying that there was no limit to how bad Chai Ren’s artistic skills were.

"Scoundrel!"

Chai Ren felt like he had been hit with a sucker punch.
