Chapter 312: Chapter 254: Sudden Attack (Please Subscribe!)_1
Chai Ren didn’t want to discuss whether he was cowardly or not, so he ignored Mu Jian and started fighting with the mango in his hand. The half jin-plus mango was gone in no time, it was all water anyways.
"Chai, you said..." Mu Jian suddenly spoke again.
"Shut up." Chai Ren quickly interrupted.
"But I didn’t even say what it was about." Mu Jian said weakly.
"As long as it’s related to your book, don’t mention it. Be careful not to corrupt the kids." Chai Ren said grumpily.
Mu Jian shook his head and sighed, "I’ve made some poor choices in friends. Why doesn’t anyone understand me? Oh, right, Liu, what do you think of my idea?" Seeing that Chai Ren ignored him, he could only express his ’ambitions’ to Liu Qian. If Chai Ren knew that this is what he called ambitions, he would definitely retort: You’re here to ’revenge’ society, right?
"Uh, it’s interesting, the ideas are good." Liu Qian said with a forced smile.
"Really? I knew someone would agree with me. Let me tell you, I was planning..."
Mu Jian started his endless talk again.
Liu Qian could only pretend to listen very seriously, making various expressions of surprise, approval, and realization. He could definitely get half an Oscar.
Chai Ren didn’t interrupt, this was also a way to promote their relationship rapidly. He had wanted to strengthen the relationship with Liu Qian since he showed his mysterious combat power. Chai Ren even wanted to know the power that Liu Qian’s fighter represented. This power could be a great help as long as they were not enemies, and maybe even life-saving at critical moments.
As expected, after what they’ve just experienced, Liu Qian found Mu Jian’s ’stupid’ side interesting. Mu Jian also began to slowly understand Liu Qian, and gradually acknowledged him as a friend.
After a while...
Liu Zhi brought over a large plate of barbecued meat. The plating skills were quite rough, but who cared about that then? They were not picky people.
"You’ve all waited for a long time. Dig in! The rest of them will grill, I’m tired." Liu Zhi put down the plate, sat down, and said with a smile.
"Thank you, honey." Mu Jian quickly acknowledged, and kissed Liu Zhi.
"It’s not hard." Liu Zhi said with a smile.
Chai Ren pledged not to ’eat’ this kind of ’dog food.’ "Please, behave yourself, we are here, you know. I can’t bear it."
"I’ll hit you. Let’s eat!" Liu Zhi glared at Chai Ren and said.
"Hehe, okay then."
Then everyone started to feast.
Chai Ren took a big bite of the roasted meat: "Hmm, well cooked."
"It’s good, isn’t it?" Mu Jian said proudly.
"Not bad, it’s just..." Chai Ren hesitated.
"What is it?" Everyone at the table looked at Chai Ren, especially Mu Jian, staring fiercely at him. His ’I dare you to complain’ expression was clear.
"It’s...too delicious!" Chai Ren laughed and continued eating the meat, with oil dribbling down his chin.
"That’s more like it. If you said my wife’s cooking wasn’t good, I’d have set the dog on you." Mu Jian joked.
"Stop bringing up your damn dog, we know it’s fierce. How could lamb skewers made by my sister-in-law taste bad?" Chai Ren continued to compliment.
"Hahaha...ah."
Mu Jian’s laughter faded into stunned silence as he watched the soldier chowing down at the table. The solider chewed a few times before swallowing a chunk of lamb. Jianzi found himself swallowing and said, "Your friend really eats fast."
"Yeah, he’s always been like this when eating. I hope you don’t mind Mr. Mu." Liu Qian tried to laugh it off. He can’t control the soldier’s eating habits.
"No, it doesn’t bother me. Watching him eat actually makes me hungrier, it really shows how good my wife’s cooking is." Mu Jian said smiling.
The fighter continued to eat at his usual pace, finishing dinner in just over a minute. Then he stood to one side, as still as a log.
This time, the Monkey and Chai Ren’s bodyguards didn’t try to compete with the soldier. They had come to realize that the fighter was singularly focused and highly skilled. There was no point in competing, they would never win, and they were not as envious of his two-week salary of four million. They couldn’t do what he does, nor could they command his salary. Moreover, the six million was his reward for saving Chai Ren, not his wage.
Watching the soldier stand stiffly, Mu Jian lightly laughed, "Your bodyguard really does...rush to get things done."
"Yeah, but you get used to it. Liu borrowed him from a friend." Chai Ren replied while eating.
"Oh? He must be really strong then. Fancy a bit of a competition?" Interested, Mu Jian suggested a contest. If a bodyguard was borrowed from Liu Qian’s friend, he must have extraordinary abilities. His own security was not violent people, but what man doesn’t have a bit of a ’competitive’ gene?
At hearing this, Liu Qian was distressed. How could Mu Jian want to have a competition, just as Chai Ren did. Why were they so interested in spectacles?
"Sorry, Mr. Mu, the fighter avoids martial contests." Liu Qian said helplessly.
"A bodyguard that’s afraid to compete?" Mu Jian asked, undeterred.
"..." Liu Qian wanted to say that he didn’t have control, but felt it would be embarrassing and looked to Chai Ren for help.
Seeing this, Chai Ren didn’t want to make it difficult for the fighter. Instead, he tried to persuade Mu Jian, "Come on, Jianzi, the fighter really doesn’t like to compete, don’t pressure him."
"Really?" Mu Jian asked.
"Really."
Chai Ren and Liu Qian both nodded in affirmation.
However, Mu Jian didn’t seem to appreciate this. He signaled to his bodyguard captain, Qi Tian, who is always at the fighter’s side. He was just up for some fun, it won’t really harm anyone.
Understanding the hint, Qi Tian flashed a smile.
"Be careful, my friend," he said to the warrior beside him, throwing a punch in a light-hearted gesture to stir things up.
Monkey and Liu Qian who are well-aware of the fighter’s combat readied to stop but too late. From his encounters earlier with the fighter, Chai Ren knew the strength was exceptional as he could deal easily with the robbers. He believed this strength is within human boundaries, and definitely wouldn’t think so if he knew that these robbers were veterans from the U.S. battalion.
When Mu Jian was looking forward to the show, in a blink of the eye, someone was thrown about four or fives meters away. Qi Tian fell heavily onto the ground, clutching his chest, struggling to get up.
It hurt.
A sharp, piercing pain.
Without the order of someone with authority or the command room, the fighter would not know what it means to stop at a point or not to hurt people. If those present were enemies rather than currently friendly, this sudden attack would have left them disabled rather than just a slight injury.
Seeing their captain baffled and thrown away without even witnessing any action from the fighter, the other bodyguards immediately pointed their guns at the fighter.
While six pistols were pointed at him, two others rushed to Qi Tian’s aid.
Despite this, the fighter’s expression didn’t change one bit.
If the fighter had any mental activity, it would be: These weaklings with guns are still weaklings.
"Calm down, it was a misunderstanding," Chai Ren hurriedly intervened, standing in between the two groups.
"Put down your guns, it’s fine," Mu Jian managed to say, it was his own mess, nobody else to blame.
Then, looking at Liu Qian he asked, "Liu, what is this...?"
"Mu, to be honest, even I can’t order him around. Or else I wouldn’t have refused," Liu Qian said with a bitter smile.
Mu Jian was surprised, a disobedient bodyguard like this? Being paid and not listening to commands. He laughed, "Haha! Would not have guessed it, but your strength is clear to see. My bodyguard captain has been reduced to this by you. I admire that." And he clasped his hands acknowledging it.
"Brother Qi, how are you?" Mu Jian moved forward to ask concerningly.
"Nothing serious. Got a minor injury. Seems will need to rest for a while now, since even breathing hurts a bit," Qi Tian replied. Although it hurt, his face didn’t show it.
"In that case, hurry to the hospital," Mu Jian suggested.
"No need, I’m practically half a doctor with so many injuries over the years. I’m okay," Qi Tian shrugged off, never imagining losing so drastically today and being knocked out. However, he wasn’t disheartened, he will bounce back next time, it was just a game after all. Preparation is key for next time.
"Alright, you should go home and rest now," Mu Jian said, nodding. Qi Tian isn’t one to keep up appearances. With the blow that sent Qi Tian flying, if the location was slightly off, he would definitely end up in hospital.
Afterward, two bodyguards helped Qi Tian get back to his residence.
"What did you do before, bro?" Mu Jian asked curiously. He had seen people able to knock down his security captain in a second, such as the robust European men. Their strength could make Qi Tian fall to his knees, but that’s only if they can hit him!
It was an unexpected move and he was knocked out in a blink. The calm demeanor showed Qi Tian wasn’t seen as an opponent, that was what made it interesting.
In response to Mu Jian’s question, the fighter ignored him. Although the system had created a complete dossier in its identity forgery, it was classified. Mu Jian didn’t have the right to ask such question. It must be at the level of Tang Kai to question, of course, if the task necessitates, he would willingly share his information, but not in this setting.
"..."
Seeing that the fighter didn’t even look at him, much less respond to him.
Mu Jian immediately felt awkward.
Such disrespect.
Even if he didn’t want to answer, he could make a sound. Such low EQ, Mu Jian didn’t know what to say.
"Jianzi, don’t ask, brother won’t say anything about his past. Till now, I only know his name too," Chai Ren intervened. He felt a bit proud at the moment, he previously asked the fighter about his past to which the fighter vaguely replied ’nothing to comment’. He was slightly angry as not long ago, nobody dared to talk to him in such a tone.
But now? He feels like he has some privileged, at least the fighter acknowledges him.
"Well done, it should be done, let this guy feel awkward," Chai Ren silently said to himself.
"Well, I like this temperament of yours, bro. Haha. Let’s eat!"
Mu Jian wasn’t the kind to hold grudges, and he didn’t care anymore. Today he met old friends after a long time, a sympathetic Liu Qian and an interesting fighter. In comparison to his usual mundane life, today was surely a ’pleasant surprise’.
Liu Qian was quietly eating the dishes, carefully handle the two young masters. Even though he felt the fighter was more welcomed and treated better than him, it was not like he could get jealous. But deep down, he gave a thumbs up to the fighter, today’s events really made him proud.
