Having seen Tang Kai complete all the inspections, Fighter Ling came over.

Of course, the name Ling wasn’t chosen by the system, but by Tang Qing. He whimsically considered this place to be one of his future territories and genuine stronghold, a place with battle power. Zero is the basis of numbers in Mathematics, and it struck him suddenly. His Fighter was hence implicitly named Ling for foreign interactions and it indeed sounded perfect.

To avoid suspicion, he knew that as the leader, his temperament could not possibly mirror a bodyguard’s. Usually, he was talkative and insincere, but he would never put on airs with Tang Kai.

"Boss Tang, have you finished the inspection?" Fighter Ling asked as he approached Tang Kai.

"Leader Ling, everything is fine for now. The initial checks show no problems. When we go back and get everything inspected, we’ll make the payment." Tang Kai nodded in response.

Fighter Ling nodded and said, "That’s good to hear, Officer Wangsa, I hope you’ll assign someone to protect Boss Tang."

"No problem, I will absolutely ensure Boss Tang and the cargo are safe," Wangsa confirmed.

Afterwards, staff from various divisions began to help load up the truck. It required loading hundreds of large iron boxes, each filled with high-density items. They were incredibly heavy and took over half an hour to load completely. Fortunately, Tang Kai had brought two heavy-duty trucks from his own company. They were filled to the brim; even the diamonds, gemstones, and extremely valuable jade were placed in Tang Kai’s own vehicle.

Once all had been loaded, Tang Kai breathed a sigh of relief. Looking at the two fully-loaded trucks, he was exceedingly cheerful, as if he had reaped a harvest.

"Leader Ling, I hope in future, I could be your first consideration when goods like these are available," Tang Kai approached the Fighter and said.

He dearly wished that, like in the past, he could become the exclusive merchant for these goods in Thailand.

"Of course, we’re aware of Boss Tang’s honorableness. We’ll consider you as a priority when distributing our goods in the future," the Fighter pledged, in line with the principle of not letting resources fall into strangers’ hands.

"Thank you, Leader Ling. We will leave first, and next time you’re in Bangkok, come find me. I will make sure to welcome you warmly," Tang Kai said joyfully. Having this massive supplier would ensure his future business flourished.

"Certainly, we should be going as well, goodbye, Boss Tang," said Fighter Ling as he bid farewell, before turning to Wangsa and saying, "Goodbye, Officer Wangsa."

"Alright, I await our talk tomorrow. Leader Ling, take care on your journey," Wangsa said, reminding him to be careful of retaliation from remaining hostile forces, especially during the late hours of the night.

"Alright, thank you for the reminder," Fighter Ling responded.

Wangsa was unaware that the area was already entirely under the Fighter’s control. All opposition had been wiped out in the face of Fighters as powerful as they were. With the funds acquired from several ’village leaders’, this was the most dense concentration of Fighters, with a total of over two hundred and thirty.

Of these, around fifty Fighters were stationed at all key locations, securing the commandeered forces, while approximately one hundred and fifty operated the most cutting-edge weapons here as an independent squad.

The remaining thirty or so Fighters were disseminated throughout the vast area as secret sentries and informants. No specific special task forces had been set up. Fighters were free to switch to any military role, and their professionalism and experience eliminated the need for any specific training. However, a special operations squad composed of civilians was assigned to assist with escort duties.

Fighter Ling and his crew subsequently returned to the other side of the river, got into their vehicles, and headed into the pitch-black mountains. This was a dirt road, due to be paved first once materials were delivered. Once improved, future transactions would be much more convenient.

Watching Fighter Ling recede into the distance, with the odd flicker of light in the distant mountains, Wangsa redirected his gaze and instructed his lieutenant to send two cars to follow and ensure protection.

"Officer Wangsa, we will leave first, and the money will be in the designated account by noon tomorrow," Tang Kai said.

"Alright, Boss Tang. Be careful. Do come for tea when you have time."

"Surely."

Then, Tang Kai and his team got into their vehicle and left.

After Tang Kai had left,

"Officer, I suspect that the value of those goods is extremely high," Wangsa’s lieutenant murmured.

Wangsa stared at his lieutenant, who turned jittery and shaky. He said,"Let me tell you why you can’t make it big. Remember, some money you can take, some you can’t. Don’t even entertain the idea of taking money like this. We must maintain discipline. Tell them they must protect the cargo along the way. We can’t afford any mishaps."

In the past, Tang Kai was in charge of transport and had never encountered any problems. If something were to happen now, even though Wangsa had appointed escorts, it would be a slap in his face. Then, he would claim many lives.

"Yes, sir," the lieutenant complied.

...

An army-green Toyota led the way, followed by Tang Kai and Liu Qian among others. Two heavy-duty trucks were then tailed by the bodyguards’ vehicle, and finally, there was another similar Toyota. All vehicles maintained close contact via walkie-talkies.

As they passed several checkpoints, the convoy didn’t stop, simply driving straight through. At night, sometimes they would encounter Thai patrol officers enforcing the law, but upon seeing the convoy, they didn’t dare waste time with excess chatter. They didn’t dare to collect road tolls either, releasing them from afar whilst saluting, assuming that some big shot was passing by.

After driving continuously throughout the night, they arrived at the company warehouse and processing center in the suburbs of Bangkok at half past eleven the next day. Wangsa’s two cars had already moved and before leaving, Tang Kai graciously gave one car a generous amount of money. Despite their familiarity from many visits, he knew it was important to maintain the courtesy.

By this time, the appraisers hired by Liu Qian and Chai Ren had arrived. Each hired four professionals who were experts in jade and gemstones. Of course, for safety, there were at least thirty bodyguards on standby, each carrying a rubber baton and exuding an intimidating presence. Personal items belonging to the appraisers had been inspected, photography was prohibited, and they had signed confidentiality agreements.

Prior to their arrival, these appraisers thought they would only evaluate a few dozen items.

However, they were instantly excited upon seeing the large iron boxes being unloaded, and the even more numerous large boxes that had not yet been handled. Assuming the contents were what they thought, the volume of these goods might exceed the total amount they had appraised in ten years. It was a tremendous opportunity for learning.

In the enormous clean warehouse, a steady stream of large boxes were moved to one side and categorised. From the moment Tang Kai had seen them, he had sorted the raw gemstones, jade, diamonds, rubies, sapphires and gold, each with its respective label.

Next came the thrilling moment for these appraisers.

Box after box full of jade and gemstones were opened, brought out and each given a serial number. The items were jointly assessed by the three parties, and then moved onto the next one, repeating the same process again and again.

They were in utter agony and ecstasy.

Rare gemstones and jade that were scarcely seen were piled up here, so many that it was startling.

There were even finished jade and jewelry products, some of which looked quite old and could be regarded as antiques. Therefore, Tang Kai hurriedly brought in an antique expert to appraise those aged items.

He also transferred fifty thousand dollars to Wangsa’s account in the meantime.

Likewise, Tang Kai and others napped for a while and then set up a table on the side, drinking tea and chatting.

They didn’t leave the warehouse for the entire day and evening. They ordered takeout for meals, but instead of boxed lunches, they opted for luxurious feasts from star-rated hotels.

By midnight, all the items had finally been appraised. The appraisers were exhausted, but felt it was worthwhile. They probably wouldn’t encounter such a vast quantity of items to appraise in their lifetime, the sight of so many treasures laid out in front of them was indeed stimulating.

After working overtime to compile the statistics, vice-president Hu Yi walked over with a thick stack of papers and excitedly said, "Boss Tang, the total valuation is out."

The slightly fatigued group instantly became energetic.

"Oh? How much?" Tang Kai impatiently asked.

"Boss Tang, according to our wholesale market value, the total price of these items has exceeded 2.5 billion RMB, and their market value after processing is around 3.7 billion RMB," Hu Yi excitedly reported. With Liu Qian and Chai Ren present, the currency calculation was naturally in RMB.

"What? How can there be so much extra?" Tang Kai was shocked. They had obtained the items for over 1.6 billion RMB, and he had originally thought that wholesale would bring a profit of around 500 to 600 million. However, it had instantly increased by 400 million. This was illogical.

He exchanged glances with Liu Qian and the others. They felt that the world had gone mad, were people really just handing out money like this?

"Boss, I suspect that the other party simply calculated the price according to the market value of the raw materials. Many of the jade and jewelry pieces are antiques and extremely valuable. Some even have historical records and are very valuable, making them easy to liquidate," Hu Yi said excitedly. He knew very well how much Tang Kai had spent on these items. His heart was also filled with astonishment; they had just picked up an easy 400 million.

Tang Kai took a deep breath and said, "I see. Discounting the historically significant antiques, how much is the market value?"

"Boss Tang, the market value is 3.4 billion RMB and the antique’s value is 300 million RMB," Hu Yi replied directly. These were just a few numbers, he had memorized them long ago.

"That’s good. Mr. Liu, shall we set aside those antiques for now? After everything has been sold, we will distribute the money. As for the unprocessed items, we will distribute them according to the previous subscription ratio based on the current value," Tang Kai calmed down and turned to Liu Qian and the others.

"No problem, according to the agreement, you choose the items first. Whatever is left, Mr. Liu and I will divide it when we get back," Chai Ren decided.

"Then I will not be polite." Tang Kai rubbed his hands and grinned.

After that, Tang Kai began to choose what he needed. He wouldn’t take all the best items, as that would be too much. Instead, he chose a variety of things, of differing quality. He didn’t finish choosing until over an hour later.
