Chapter 366: Chapter 299: Delivering Political Achievements (Subscribe Please!) _1
Father Tang and Father Lin left happily after finishing their sketch.
With nothing to do, Tang Qing started to feel bored. Lin Jiaxue was next door, and his bedroom door was open. He could hear Lin Jiaxue’s voice from time to time. For some reason, he couldn’t concentrate on anything. He couldn’t focus on his book or his drawing.
So, Tang Qing began to slowly outline the composition and details of his next piece in his mind. The painting he had given Qin Yugang earlier was simple, only outlining some firearms and the eyes of some characters. It was missing a lot of elements, such as the background, environment, character expression, and even the clothes and actions of the characters. This time, he wanted his masterwork to be a complete "battlefield survival".
Sitting at his desk, Tang Qing rested his chin on his left hand, lightly biting the nail on his right thumb. He slightly squinted his eyes, allowing his imagination to expand boundlessly. 𝓷ℴ𝓿𝓹𝓾𝒷.𝓬𝓸𝓂
A city? A village? A rooftop? On top of a water tower?
A dense forest? A bush? A vegetable field?
...
The pictures he imagined continuously flashed and combined in his mind, rapidly processed by his brain in order to achieve the ideal atmosphere and effect.
Drawing is sometimes just like writing a novel, where you start from a blank space and gradually build a clear world or scenario. Some parts are real, some are illusions.
It’s truly addictive.
Of course, this is true for those who can easily bring their imagination to life. Otherwise, when the actual result is less than satisfactory, those high expectations could be easily dashed, and the artist might completely lose their enthusiasm, becoming a mere bystander.
...
Half an hour later.
The dishes were ready, and his aunt called loudly for them to gather for dinner, rousing Tang Qing from his daydream. He was quite satisfied with the scene he had envisioned. With one night, he could give birth to a ’Masterpiece’. It’s about momentum, not technique.
Thinking about it excited Tang Qing. He had to finish the painting tonight. Luckily, he had bought bigger paper and a board; otherwise, he wouldn’t feel like picking up his sketchpad to create another ’small picture’.
"Brother, come and eat." Qin Shiyu stood at the doorway and called Tang Qing back from his thoughts.
"Coming." Tang Qing quickly stood up and replied.
Leaving his room.
All his family members had already taken their seats, leaving only his spot empty.
Qin Shiqi still glared at him with bulging eyes, sitting next to Lin Jiaxue, being the third wheel.
She felt particularly resentful.
It seemed like she wouldn’t be appeased with just a hundred or so yuan.
Qin Shiyu diligently moved a chair for Tang Qing, and due to her OCD, she straightened Tang Qing’s chopsticks with the patterns facing upwards perfectly in the middle of his bowl, even wiping away the water droplets on the bowl’s edge. She gave a satisfied smile after completing these tasks.
This was Qin Shiyu’s simple pleasure.
Tang Qing indicated his understanding while the others express their helplessness.
Not long after they started eating, the conversation among the adults shifted to Tang Qing’s sketches, making him the center of attention. Father Tang showed his selected sketches to everyone, which caused a wave of exclamations.
"Tangtang, when did you learn to sketch? These are great," Mother Tang expressed with surprise as she carefully examined the sketches. Though she didn’t understand firearms, she could tell the difference between good and bad work. Her evaluation principle was straightforward: if it looks real, it’s good; if not, it isn’t.
"I have been learning for about a month," replied Tang Qing. Strictly speaking, it was less than half a month, but he didn’t want to be too ostentatious.
"Learning to draw this well in just a month is incredible," praised Mother Lin.
Exactly, our neighbor’s child has been learning for over half a year and is still drawing fruit and cutlery. Not to mention, their drawings aren’t even any good," added Father Lin.
"Exactly, Tangtang is really talented. He learns everything so quickly," Mother Lin looked at her future son-in-law with happiness.
After everyone had finished looking at the sketches, Mother Tang carefully collected the drawings. These were her son’s masterpieces, and she planned to laminate and frame them the next day then hang them at home. Her son’s works were the best decorations for their home.
"By the way, Tangtang, can you draw people? One day, you should draw a few sketches for me. Actually, you could do it later today," Mother Tang suddenly chimed in. All of his drawings were of guns, and having only those hung at home was a bit monotonous.
"Sure, let’s talk about it after dinner," Tang Qing agreed. He thought, drawing people was a piece of cake.
"Great! I want mine to be larger, this paper is too small. Oh, also make me look prettier, and the background should be a lakeside...," Mother Tang was so excited she couldn’t stop talking.
Father Tang saw that his wife’s eyes were shining and she was practically dancing from excitement. He quickly interjected, "Alright, alright, let’s talk about this after dinner. Let’s eat first."
Mother Tang immediately shut up.
"Okay, Jiaxue, eat quickly. This is your favorite sweet and sour pork. Don’t be so formal, eat more...," Mother Tang served Lin Jiaxue some pork.
"Thank you, Aunt," Lin Jiaxue said softly.
"What’s there to be polite about? Come on, Shiqi, Shiyu, you two should eat more too. Your aunt made this. This is the time to grow, so you have to eat more and don’t be thinking about losing weight."
"Thank you, Aunt."
After serving the two cousins their food, Mother Tang started eating herself.
"Mom, what about mine?" Tang Qing pouted.
"You have hands, don’t you? Why are you competing with your sister?" Mother Tang glared at him and spoke dismissively.
Tang Qing had nothing to say. He kept his head down. This treatment... His real mother, indeed.
"Oh well, I will serve you the food then. Here, Mom, this piece with garlic is pretty good, give it a try," Tang Qing had to ’repay evil with good’.
