Chapter 386: Chapter 313 Astonishing Defence (Subscribe Please!)_1
One o’clock in the afternoon.
Qi Heng wakes up leisurely in his office.
He had been drowsy after the morning meeting and took a nap after lunch.
Suddenly.
A system default sound rang in his ear, startling him. Lately, any penguin or other notification sounds have been making him particularly sensitive because of what has been going on.
There were three computers in front of him.
The noise was coming from the one with the unnamed webpage open.
Qi Heng quickly moved the screen and exited the pipeline screensaver.
There were no changes on the upload interface, no pop-ups, and no response in the ’dialog box’.
But a conspicuous red circle with a white Arabic numeral one appeared on the user icon in the upper right corner.
A website message?
Qi Heng quickly clicked it to check.
It opened another sub-interface.
The message inside read: "Mr. Qi Heng, your child Qi Wei has been found. Please wait for the police to contact you patiently. Also, thank you for your trust and support for our website. Lastly, please take good care of your child—please pay the reward as you see fit."
A swindler.
That was Qi Heng’s first feeling.
Not surprisingly, considering he had been deceived in this manner several times before—he was in turmoil.
Sitting in his boss chair.
Qi Heng smoked a cigarette.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got.
It hadn’t even been that long, barely twelve hours, he had just uploaded the data last night, and now they said they had found the child—wasn’t that crazy? Was this a joke? Even the quickest search wouldn’t yield results so fast.
"Ding ding ding..."
The landline rang.
Interrupting Qi Heng’s thoughts.
An unknown number.
He scrambled to answer the phone.
’Hello, I’m Qi Heng.’ Qi Heng said formally.
Then came a hearty voice over the phone.
"Hello, Mr. Qi Heng, I am Wu Hao, the director of the Baihe Town Police Station in Ning Shan County, Xiang Province. Your child Qi Wei has been found, please come to our county as soon as possible to identify."
"You swindler, how dare you impersonate a police officer." Qi Heng was instantly angered.
On the other side, Wu Hao had a helpless expression—he had just been mistaken for a swindler. But he understood because it seemed Qi Heng had received countless swindler calls lately.
"Um, Mr. Qi Heng, I’m not impersonating, here, talk to your child." Wu Hao didn’t argue, letting the truth speak for itself.
Here we go again.
Qi Heng was livid.
But the voice from the phone instantly diffused his anger.
"Daddy. Daddy."
This was his son.
Those familiar words, that familiar voice.
It definitely was.
Qi Heng became so excited that his head filled with blood. He stood up abruptly, oblivious to the fact that he had knocked over a cup of tea onto his beloved laptop. Compared to his computer, his son was his most precious treasure.
"Qiuqiu, is that you?" Qi Heng’s voice trembled.
"It’s me, Daddy. Where are you? I miss Mommy. Wah wah wah." Qi Wei began to cry as he spoke.
Qi Heng quickly comforted him: "Qiuqiu, don’t cry. Daddy will come pick you up soon. You must listen to the uncle, okay? Daddy will bring you something tasty. Is that okay?"
Upon hearing about something tasty, Qi Wei instantly stopped crying.
"Okay, I want Nuo nuo."
Hearing Qi Wei ask for Nuo nuo, Qi Heng was even more certain it was his son—he couldn’t be mistaken. Nuo nuo was his wife’s specialty, fried glutinous rice balls. It was their son’s favorite, and he always called it Nuo Nuo.
"Okay, okay, I’ll ask your mom to make it right away. Is that okay?" Qi Heng answered hurriedly.
"Okay, heeheehee." Qi Wei started to laugh.
At this point, Wu Hao took the phone back.
"Mr. Qi Heng, we will take good care of your child. Please bring your documents to the county department to pick him up as soon as possible." Wu Hao said.
"Okay, I’ll get ready right away and be right there. Thank you, officer." Qi Heng gratefully replied.
"No need to be polite. It’s work for the people and right in duty. Goodbye."
After hanging up the phone, Qi Heng was unable to calm down for a long time. He couldn’t sit still, issued a few instructions, and hurriedly left the company to pick up his wife from the hospital.
When his wife heard that their son had been found, she was extremely excited—unable to control her tears, she immediately requested to be discharged from the hospital to see her child. Seeing that her emotional burden had been lifted, the doctor didn’t stop her.
At seven o’clock in the evening, they hastily arrived and were reunited with their son.
Facing Cheng Jie’s apology,
Qi Heng was also conflicted.
After all, this person indirectly encouraged those criminals.
But since he saw his son, Cheng Jie was kind to him, he didn’t say much, let him go, out of sight, out of mind.
"Director Wu, thank you, thank you for helping me find my child." Qi Heng said with gratitude, grasping Wu Hao’s hand tightly.
"You’re welcome, I also received a tip-off." Wu Hao said with a smile. Helping others brought him joy. Whenever he heard words of thanks, he felt proud of his work.
"What kind of tip-off?" Qi Heng asked, confused.
"An email, I don’t even know who sent it." Wu Hao didn’t hide anything, he didn’t know who reported it, let alone tell it.
"Email?" Qi Heng was surprised.
Thinking of that website message, Qi Heng was completely sure it was done by the people from that website. But he did not rule out the possibility of the website being the mastermind behind it, maybe they did it on purpose.
"Do you know?" Wu Hao was puzzled.
"Do you have a computer here?" Qi Heng countered.
"Yes, what’s the matter." Wu Hao asked curiously.
"Director Wu, I want to show you something."
After saying that, Qi Heng followed Wu Hao to a computer, and opened that website.
He logged into his account.
Wu Hao carefully examined the website’s services and that brief website message, his first thought was that this was a scam staged by a gang.
But it was too brazen, such an easily exposed scam was simply playing with fire.
"Qi Heng, what do you think?" Wu Hao asked, frowning.
"I? I don’t know if they staged this themselves or what, I need your help to investigate, because this site is too powerful." Qi Heng said with a bitter smile.
"Powerful?" Wu Hao asked, confused.
Qi Heng began to explain.
"Yes, as you know, I’m a software worker, I also excel in the field of internet security, to my knowledge, this website sent the same message to hundreds of thousands of internet users in Shanghai and surrounding provinces at twelve o’clock last night, which is the link to this website. Many hackers are upset and want to take it down to stop them from deceiving people, but so far today, this website had attracted almost all domestic hackers to attack it, but no one has achieved anything."
Thinking about it, Qi Heng couldn’t help but chuckle. God, the hacker world in China is in turmoil right now. The fact that all of them together couldn’t break such a simple "dialogue box" website is a great humiliation, but facts are facts, they had no way to deal with this website at all.
Intrusion?
Heh, they didn’t even bother to respond to them, they were unmoving despite of the attack.
"Really this powerful?" Although Wu Hao was a layman, he understood the significance of a website that couldn’t be broken down by domestic hackers.
"Yes." Qi Heng shook his head and sighed.
Just then, the deputy director of the county walked into the reception room.
"Little Wu, is this the child you found after receiving the email at noon?" the deputy director asked.
"Yes, Director, what’s the matter?" Wu Hao asked curiously, this matter had nothing to do with this deputy director.
"What happened? The so-called ’kind-hearted person’ sent a lot of emails to our peers everywhere, at least we have counted there are more than six hundred so far, among them more than four hundred are addresses of missing children, and more than a hundred are detailed information about some criminals. Some places didn’t take it seriously, but there are still dozens of places where colleagues tried their luck and indeed found them. Now the Provincial Department has issued an order that all these kinds of emails must be investigated on the spot, because so far, not a single one has been wrong." the deputy director said.
What?
Really that bizarre?
"Really?" Wu Hao exclaimed.
"Yes, they are investigating the website now, but there is no progress." The deputy director said with a furrowed brow.
"Is there a chance they did it?" Wu Hao said suddenly.
But the deputy director looked at him with a ’you’re stupid’ look and said, "Are you stupid? If they did it, why would they trap themselves? Do you think that’s possible? Besides, many of these caught criminals are part of different groups, with no communication between them, probably because they can’t conspire."
"You’re right, rest assured, I will pay attention to such emails in the future." Wu Hao also felt he was in the dark about some things, affected by his professional bias. He found it was actually quite possible after being analyzed by the deputy director, yet he still had so many doubts.
"Um, it’s kind of like doing a good deed. If it isn’t the people from that website doing this, I would actually admire them quite a bit." The Deputy Director of the County Public Security Bureau said.
"Yes." said Wu Hao agreeing.
Even though he didn’t know how they were doing it, it didn’t prevent him from admiring such people.
The reason why the deputy director did not avoid Qi Heng was because as the matter gradually fermented, many children were found and a lot of news spread online, it was impossible to keep it hidden.
Listening from the side, Qi Heng’s doubts slowly vanished. With this scenario, anyone with even a bit of common sense would know that it couldn’t be them who did it.
The deputy director left with Qi Heng’s questioning record.
"Mr. Qi, you can go now, take care of the child in the future." said Wu Hao.
"Okay, I don’t know if Director Wu has time, I would like to..." Qi Heng invited.
Wu Hao waved his hand, saying, "No need, to serve the people, it’s our duty, I have to go back now, you should accompany your child."
"Okay, thank you." Qi Heng didn’t insist.
Qi Heng and Wu Hao parted ways at the entrance of the county bureau.
"Honey, what do we do now?" His wife asked, watching Wu Hao’s ’vehicle’ drive away.
Qi Heng pondered for a moment and said, "I see the condition of Director Wu’s car is quite old, I’ll have someone donate some vehicles to their office. As for that website, we’ll observe it for a few more days, if there’s no problem, we’ll transfer a large sum of money to that account as a token of appreciation."
"Right, I support you, honey. Baby, did you miss mommy?" His wife’s worry was lifted, she held her son tightly. The joy of finding what was lost filled her heart.
"Miss." said Qi Wei in a childish voice.
"Good boy, mommy missed you too, let’s go eat first, look at you, you smell. We need to wash you clean when we get back."
"Okay, time for a bath."
