Upon hearing Feng Hai’s words, Yang Kai quickly escorted him to the tent set aside for the leaders. Inside, were plenty of fruits, beverages, and drinks to cater for every taste. Considering the sweltering weather, they had moved in two air conditioners. Though Yang Kai was reluctant to splurge in such a way, he understood that these courtesies were a necessity due to national customs.
"Secretary Feng, I apologize for the humble facilities. Please bear with us," Yang Kai said respectfully. While Feng Hai appeared to be approachable and friendly, Yang Kai dared not fully let his guard down.
"Mr. Yang, you’re being too polite. Don’t bother with me, go about your business." Feng Hai waved his hand and spoke. Yang Kai was sure to be exceedingly busy, and Feng Hai, being perfectly capable and even having a secretary and two emcees around, did not require Yang Kai’s accompaniment.
"Alright then, I have some matters to attend to, so I’ll take my leave for now," Yang Kai replied and turned to leave.
He had only taken a few steps when-
A Sheng Tang employee approached him. Those present were all from the sales department of the Sheng Tang Group. The staff from other departments were still at work. Sheng Tang was currently in a phase of rapid development, which meant continuous changes. Today might be an important day, but Yang Kai was not in the habit of offering leave days.
Once the sales department completed the ceremony in the morning, they would return to work in the afternoon.
"Manager Feng, Manager Liu is here," the employee announced.
Immediately, Yang Kai hurried off to receive them.
"Manager Liu, welcome!" On catching sight of Liu Qian, Yang Kai jogged over with an outstretched hand to greet him.
"Mr. Yang, long time no see," The two men clasped hands.
"Indeed, Manager Liu, you haven’t lost your charm," Yang Kai complimented. This was no exaggeration. Liu Qian usually lived a well-off life where everything went as planned. He also practiced boxing daily, which made him appear far more energetic than most people his age. He had a buoyant complexion.
Liu Qian gently laughed, "Still the same foolishness. I am getting old, not as energetic as the younger ones. Where’s your boss, Tang?" He finished his sentence by glancing around, seeing no sign of Tang Qing.
Yang Kai replied awkwardly, "Our Boss, Tang, will probably arrive after school lets out." He had no idea how many times he would repeat this today. What else could he say about Tang Qing? Only that the boss was right in doing so.
Upon hearing this-
Liu Qian had to suppress a chuckle.
Arrive after school?
Liu Qian didn’t know what to say about such an unusual state of affairs. Today was indeed an important occasion, but Tang Qing was busy attending classes. However, there wasn’t anything wrong with that. Tang Qing was still a student awaiting the National College Entrance Examination. His attendance in class seemed reasonable, as it was the right thing to do.
All things are trivial compared to the importance of education.
Liu Qian mentally searched for reasons to justify Tang Qing’s actions.
This would allow him to accept the situation more easily.
As for dissatisfaction-
He had none. With their extended years of cooperation, Tang Qing had come to seem like his junior. The willful behavior of one’s junior could naturally be tolerated. If he was late, he was late. Even if he didn’t show up at all, Liu Qian wouldn’t say anything.
"Alright then. Have the leaders arrived?" Liu Qian asked again.
"Yes, Secretary Feng of the Municipal Party Committee arrived a little earlier than you," Yang Kai quickly responded.
Upon hearing Feng Hai’s name, Liu Qian’s face displayed an expression that signaled he understood the situation.
"Oh? Secretary Feng. I’ll go over and say hello."
Liu Qian was well aware of Feng Sen’s affiliations. The last time he saw Tang Qing and Dou Jiao, along with the whole Cui Guangming family dining together at his hotel, he realized that the family ties between Tang Qing and Dou Jiao ran deep.
Feng Hai was part of Dou Jiao’s backing as well.
It was only natural that he favored Tang Qing, hence his early arrival made sense.
This gave Liu Qian an opportunity to strengthen his relationship with Feng Hai.
"Alright then," Yang Kai personally led the way for Liu Qian.
Upon arriving at the designated tent-
Feng Hai was leisurely sipping tea. This was the perk of being a leader. As long as there were no meetings, one could arrange their work schedule at will.
"Secretary Feng, hello, hello." Liu Qian approached with a beaming smile. Although he knew Feng Hai from before, they were not very familiar with each other.
"Oh, Manager Liu, you’re also here quite early," Feng Hai got up to shake hands.
"Yes, Secretary Feng, would you like a smoke?"
Liu Qian offered him a cigarette.
"Let me light it for you."

Suddenly, Feng Hai asked, "Manager Liu, how long have you been acquainted with Young Tang?" Feng Hai was aware of how Tang Qing and Dou Jiao met, as Dou Jiao had mentioned it. However, he was unaware of how Liu Qian and Tang Qing had become so familiar. Could it be due to Chai Ren? Possibly.
"We met last year, why do you ask?" replied Liu Qian.
"What do you think of him?" As Feng Hai took a drag of his cigarette, he exhaled gently, and then slowly asked.
About Tang Qing?
All sorts of thoughts flashed through Liu Qian’s mind. The most reasonable one was that Feng Hai wanted to know about Tang Qing’s character.
After organizing his thoughts, Liu Qian whispered, "Secretary Feng, I wouldn’t dare to say too much, but I quite agree with Young Tang’s character. Although his methods can be straightforward and immature at times, he has strong principles and is steady in his actions. He is also extremely confident, and his work ethic is beyond reproach. As an example, today, he would rather attend class than participate in his own company’s ceremony."
This was Liu Qian’s genuine opinion, but not whole. If there was anything left to say, it would be: his power and background are deep and unfathomable.
In the past, he thought Dou Jiao was Tang Qing’s major support but, after the trip to the United States and a certain debt collection task, he realized the real strength behind Tang Qing was immensely powerful and terrifying.
Listening to Liu Qian’s high praise, Feng Hai was rather surprised, but he didn’t ask further.
"Hmm, that’s good. Young Tang is still young. In the future, he will need uncles like you to teach him more," Feng Hai replied.
