Chapter 580: Chapter 487: Promotion Again (Please Subscribe!)_1

In no time at all.

Gao Ming arrived.

It was a Saturday, and unlike Dou Jiao, he didn’t work overtime because the security company was still in its early developmental stage, with not much business and fewer staff. Unlike Sky Eye, there wasn’t a constant influx of tasks from Tang Qing.

Upon hearing that Tang Qing was back, Gao Ming promptly came over in his car. It had been a while since he last saw Tang Qing. Each time he visited Sky Eye, he only saw Dou Jiao. When the two talked about Tang Qing, they felt nothing but a mix of envy and helplessness.

Such a laid-back chairperson.

But he could only envy him. Even if he were given the opportunity to live such a life, he couldn’t because he was a workaholic by nature. If the company wasn’t so slow, he wouldn’t mind putting in unpaid overtime.

"Boss Tang, you’re like a mythical dragon that’s hard to find," Gao Ming said, walking up with a big laugh.

Tang Qing replied with a slight smile and a shake of his head, "Not really. You guys are doing such a great job that there’s no need for me to worry. If it weren’t for your excellent work, I wouldn’t be so relaxed."

When he heard Tang Qing’s words, Gao Ming’s heart swelled with comfort. Everyone loves to have their hard work appreciated and he was no exception. Just like all soldiers hope to receive honors, it’s human nature.

"Congrats, our national college entrance examination top scorer." Gao Ming sat down opposite Tang Qing, in front of a freshly brewed cup of tea.

"Thank you, but unfortunately no bonuses come with your congratulations," Tang Qing joked.

"I don’t need bonuses, but I did bring a gift. Check it out, I brought you a fun toy." Gao Ming then took out a wooden box from behind him and handed it to Tang Qing. The box had an ancient design.

"What is this?" Tang Qing asked as he received the box.

"Open it and see," Gao Ming responded.

"Alright."

With that, Tang Qing opened the box.

Inside was... a military knife.

This gift was quite special. Probably only someone like Gao Ming would gift a knife. Typically, people gift pens, money, or at the least, some fruits.

Gao Ming enthusiastically introduced, "I got this from a friend. It’s an extended M9 military knife from the United States, not exactly a precious item but hard to get. It’s an authentic product from an American company, Frobus Third Limited, not an imitation from our domestic market."

"Thank you, Uncle Gao, I really like it, it’s great." Tang Qing quickly expressed his liking. A military knife, though not expensive, was still a thoughtful gift. Tang Qing had long stopped caring about the true value of a gift.

Presumably, Gao Ming thought that Tang Qing had never used such a thing before, and besides, most men are interested in knives. If Gao Ming knew that Tang Qing had a portable armory, I wonder how he’d feel. He’d probably call the police.

Seeing Tang Qing’s excitement, Gao Ming breathed a sigh of relief.

"Haha, glad you like it. How was the trip to Thailand? I’ve been there a few times myself, but aside from its rich culture, I didn’t find anything interesting."

Gao Ming continuous insights about Thailand’s works, much of which he had heard from his superiors and comrades. Tang Qing even heard the names Cai Su and Naidan mentioned somewhere in the conversation, and was quite intrigued by their misadventures.

Munching on melon seeds.

Listening to stories.

Feeling content.

For the rest of the afternoon, Tang Qing hung out at Master Han Leng’s shop, chatting and catching up on old times. When they heard about the plans for Sun Chao, Han Leng, and Gao Ming both felt grateful. Sun Chao has always depended on his mother, and it would have been unfortunate to separate them. Now, things were resolved, with Sun Chao continuing to work in Qingyan City.

Han Leng and Gao Ming thought Tang Qing was looking after Sun Chao, oblivious to the fact that Tang Qing simply found it inconvenient to take Sun Chao to the Shanghai Stock market while spending quality time with Lin Jiaxue

At night.

Tang Qing and Han Leng shared a big feast. Eventually, in a one-on-three match, he was forced to retreat. He had no choice but to hold back, because while it was alright to be a bit better, it was not permissible to violate the rules. Tang Qing could only pretend to be defeated by the three of them working together.

Against three experienced special forces soldiers, including a former senior officer like Gao Ming, it would be impossible to win without some supernatural talent. If Tang Qing had won, it would have been suspicious.

This battle.

At least gave them back some dignity.

However, the three of them felt that something was off. But they couldn’t believe that Tang Qing could knock them down single-handedly. So, they accepted this beautiful ’misunderstanding,’ which restored some of their confidence.

When he returned to his uncle’s house.

It was already half-past ten in the evening.

Qin Shiqi and Qin Shiyu, who were tired from a day’s work, had already gone to bed early. They got two days off each week, alternating their rest days. But they could choose to work overtime. Hence, calculating the extra cash into consideration, Qin Shiqi made an assertive choice to work overtime with Qin Shiyu for a day and rest the next day.

Their aunt also went to sleep.

Only their uncle, Qin Yugang, was in the living room watching the news on the Qingyan City TV station.

"Uncle, you haven’t gone to bed yet."

Tang Qing sat down beside Qin Yugang and habitually picked up some snacks from the table to munch on.

"Yeah, there’s something on my mind." Qin Yugang said with a frown.

"Is it about Feng Hai’s transfer?" Tang Qing asked with a wry smile.

Hearing Tang Qing speak so nonchalantly about it.

A shock ran through Qin Yugang. He turned to look incredulously at his nephew, Tang Qing. He had only received a phone call from Feng Hai telling him about this urgent matter that very morning. How did Tang Qing know about it?

"How did you get this news? " Qin Yugang urgently asked.

Tang Qing smiled faintly.

He had only recently learned about this, too. Earlier, when he was in Thailand, he had heard Feng Sen mention that his father, Feng Hai, might take a key step by the second half of this year, or at the latest, by the end of the year; he just wasn’t sure of the timing.

But as someone who was closely monitoring the movements of the leaders in Qingyan City, and specifically his uncle’s ’Qingyun Plan’, any change in leadership, or a shift in intentions concerning his uncle, he was able to quickly get the news.

"Uncle, you’ve forgotten, I have a friend named Feng Sen." Tang Qing said with a smile. At this point, naturally, Feng Sen had to shoulder the responsibility.

Qin Yugang was stunned before he finally understood.

Tang Qing and Feng Sen were good friends. It was normal to hear the news from Feng Sen.

"So that’s it. Yes, Feng Hai is going to be transferred next month. He plans to recommend me as the Executive Deputy Director of the Municipal Bureau." Qin Yugang admitted directly.

"Well, that’s good news. Congratulations uncle on the promotion." Tang Qing said cheerfully.

Looking at Tang Qing’s jubilant expression, Qin Yugang glared at him, exasperated, and said, "This is just a recommendation, not a certainty. Besides, I haven’t been in this position for long. Even though I have experience as a director, I don’t have experience working in the city office. It’s different."

Tang Qing shrugged nonchalantly: "So what, who is born knowing everything? As long as uncle does the things he is supposed to do, even though the relations in the city office are complex, it’s still a form of training. If you don’t understand something, just call your former superior Feng Hai. I believe he will share all his knowledge."

Tang Qing’s point was simple.

If you don’t know, learn. If you don’t understand, ask.

Qin Yugang responded in good humor to Tang Qing’s advice. Despite feeling like the younger one in the conversation, he couldn’t help but admit that what Tang Qing said made sense. Confrontation brings courage and resilience. Although unfamiliar, a man must not show fear.

"You kid, okay then, this matter is still in its early stages. Unless an official appointment is made, it’s still uncertain. I’m going to bed now. You should rest too." Having said that, Qin Yugang rose to go to bed.

"Okay."

Having said that, Tang Qing also washed up.

Then he returned to his command room.

Tang Qing gave instructions: "Tang Yi, keep a close eye on my uncle’s situation this time and make sure nothing unexpected happens. Oh, I remember there’s a pretty ’fat sheep’ in the Economic Development Zone. Send it up next Monday. It should add some weight to the scales, like gilding the lily."

The term ’fat sheep’ is from the ’Qingyun Plan’, referring to sheep ready to be butchered, or in human terms, someone who can be turned into ’political achievements’ at any time.

With the soldiers’ participation, many major cases in the Economic Development Zone had been basically solved, but that didn’t mean there weren’t any ’fish that escaped the net’, or specially ’raised’ fat sheep.

They pertained to the type of criminals who wouldn’t directly harm society or hurt others, but were still major wanted fugitives, such as those involved in economic crimes. All the murderers and violent criminals had been sent away; there was no way Tang Qing would ’raise’ them outside.

Tang Qing remembered that this person was the initiator of illegal fundraising. He used the classic Ponzi scheme, promising high interest, then illegally collecting savings, using new money to pay off old debts. This model was bound to collapse.

Realizing he couldn’t sustain it for long, he absconded with more than ten million in funds last year, a super huge amount of money at this time. He later went from the coast to the inland, and with the imperfect ID and population flow system, he managed to get a new ID card. He then hid his identity in the Economic Development Zone, bought a farmhouse, and led a comfortable life, even going as far as changing his appearance.

According to the soldiers’ investigation, most of the money was still buried under the floor of his current residence. He didn’t spend much money in his daily life, so he was kept as a ’fat sheep’, ready to be used at a critical time. That time has come.

It was time to ’slaughter the sheep’.
