Chapter 691: Chapter 595 Formation (Please Subscribe!)_1

Myanmar.

They drove across a newly constructed concrete arch bridge.

The convoy entered what used to be Tang Kai’s territory.

Su Yu had expected a bumpy road but was surprised to find it very smooth. Looking through the car window, he was astonished at the wide asphalt road underneath, its base was significantly higher than the normal ground level.

Drainage ditches and very stylish solar street lamps lined both sides of the road.

The road was wide, with four lanes in each direction; it didn’t feel crowded at all. Such road standard was rarely seen in other parts of Myanmar, where most of the highways were only two-laned.

Su Yu felt as if he had suddenly entered a civilized society.

He rolled down the window.

A gentle fragrance of flowers wafted in; flowers that bloomed all year round in this place where it was always like spring.

Villagers working in the distant mountains stood watching the convoy, their eyes full of curiosity and respect. Although they didn’t know whom this convoy belonged to, they could recognize it as the vehicle convoy of the soldiers protecting their territory.

These soldiers did not trouble the civilians and had a good conduct. They had now become the most sought-after suitors for the local young women.

After Tang Kai was side-lined, plus the presence of a considerable oilfield here, all roads in Tang Kai’s territory had been laid with asphalt. Compared to the cement road surface, the advantages of an asphalt road were very clear: it was resilient, easy to repair, and outperformed cement roads in all aspects.

However, the current yield of asphalt was still too low, and importing vast quantities wasn’t realistic; as a result, they used whatever amount they had. Hence it was mainly used in Tang Kai’s territory, which was nearby.

After travelling around ten kilometers into what used to be Tang Kai’s territory,

Su Yu noticed the increasing number of vehicles passing by. Even though these vehicles had cloth covers, they were clearly carrying ore. Looking into the distance, a giant oil refinery stood towering in the far-off distance.

Su Yu was stunned. He couldn’t believe that a refinery of such scale had started operations.

Construction of an oil refinery of this scale would normally take at least one or two years.

However, with the efforts of the scientists, through modularization, standardization, pre-assembly, and the mall’s integrated manufacturing, the construction process was compressed to an extreme level.

In just a month and a half, this large-scale oil refinery was put into operation. It replaced several previous small-scale oil refineries and was supplying sixty percent of the territory’s needs, with another forty percent imported from Thailand.

Additionally, thirty percent of the refinery’s output was being stored as emergency supplies. Together with the energy purchased by the Combat Dispatch Center, even if this refinery stopped operating, the territory would still have enough fuel for two months.

Su Yu could see tanker trucks continuously coming out from a fork road ahead, heading in the same direction as he was. He didn’t ask about it since the information had been on the data he received earlier.

The vehicles here were mostly large trucks, with very few private cars.

As they approached the convoy,

The truck drivers quickly lined up in a row, driving on the slow lane, not daring to overtake, and even reduced their speed a little.

Seeing the convoy protected by wheeled combat vehicles, the drivers all looked on respectfully. They travelled far and wide, which made them realized that this was Ling’s personal guard convoy; Ling was likely returning from Yangon.

They were now officially recognized.

They were also glad that they could now travel and tour around Myanmar. People were earning more, and life was much richer over the weekends.

However, no one wished to relocate their household registration because they had hope here.

Why would they move there to farm?

The convoy was speeding along the wide road.

Su Yu looked at the civilization along the way, his eyes becoming brighter. He saw that now, where people used to live in straw huts, many were constructing brick houses. Their vigor and vitality were no different from the residents of their territory.

Looking at the countenance of the bystanders,

He knew,

Ling’s position was now extremely stable, and the petty troublemakers could not stir up any trouble. When the people here only recognized Ling and did not know about Yangon, haha, Su Yu was pleased just picturing it; he had chosen the right side.

Almost noon,

The convoy arrived at Xin’an Town.

Looking at this modern town, Su Yu was no longer surprised.

In the conference hall of the service center, a crowd of people had gathered. They were top executives from various management departments of the territories, soldiers as well as some senior executives of the Myanmar Bank Group.

Seeing Ling and Su Yu walk in,

"Whirrr...."

Applause erupted.

No doubt, those ordinary people had started the applause. The soldiers inside also reluctantly clapped. Previously, under Ling’s request, they generally wouldn’t applaud, but Ling had ventured into enemy territory alone and now had made a triumphant return. Now that he was back safely, they couldn’t help but applaud him.

They all looked fervently at that familiar face.

As for Su Yu.

They had already obtained Su Yu’s information.

Ling walked to the front of the stage and sat down in his position, while Su Yu was led by a soldier and took a seat below.

The conference hall immediately quieted down.

Ling spoke, "Everyone’s here, let’s begin the meeting. This is our territory’s last meeting, and the first one for Myanmar Economic Zone. I’ve noticed all your hard work in the past and it’s been impressive. You haven’t disappointed me, I want to thank you all for your support.

I officially announce the establishment of the Myanmar Economic Zone’s governmental management institution from now on. I’ll serve as the governor, with three deputy governors... " Ling then announced all the leading positions of the core departments.

The changes weren’t too drastic. The same department personnel were still utilized, some didn’t even have to change their names. Some adjustments were made in human resources, and a few new departments had been established, especially the local government, which didn’t exist before and required full staffing.

Soon enough,

The appointments were completed.

The self-introductions of the deputy governors were also completed.

The management institution officially began to function.

"Alright, let’s move on to the second item on today’s agenda..."

Ling continued with his script.

The people below had gotten used to it.

The meeting carried on until nightfall, covering tasks like registry, law, exports, loans, labor services, etc., as well as sharing detailed terms from Ling’s negotiation with the government.

Thank goodness for the paperwork.

Otherwise, the regular attendees would be overwhelmed.

After the meeting, Ling was generous and hosted everyone for a lavish dinner.

After dinner,

With heads a bit swollen,

They each took their leave. Su Yu went back to his assigned villa in his luxurious Hummer. Here, there’s no restriction against public servants riding luxury cars as long as they are legally obtained.

Moreover, he would receive his official car, as a deputy governor, the next day.

Su Yu wanted to sell his car to get some money for business investments.

The afternoon meeting had so much content that it would take him several days to process everything. But, he felt incredibly enthusiastic and knew what his next steps were.

This was a great undertaking.

...

Upon hearing of Ling’s return, Wangsa immediately drove over.

But Ling had been in the meeting the whole afternoon. He didn’t have any time to meet him until the meeting ended. Wangsa’s purpose was to confirm his family’s fruit wine selling rights and deliver their congratulatory gifts.

Ling accepted everything.

In the end, he gave Wangsa a positive response: the fruit wine selling rights would still belong to them.

Upon hearing Ling’s words, Wangsa breathed a sigh of relief. He expressed his gratitude and wishes, then cheerfully returned to his own territory. On the way, he gave Tang Kai a call to share the good news.

Unfortunately, Tang Kai had already known the news. But he pretended to be excited, to not make Wangsa suspicious.

Just as everyone related to the territory was rejoicing,

There were always those who weren’t.

Such as the two brothers who were contemplating splitting from Myanmar.

In a small town, Kan Chin State,

People from both sides are holding a secret discussion over a satellite phone.

"Is the news reliable? Ling hasn’t completely succumbed to Lang Cai and company."

"Absolutely reliable. Besides opening trade and population movement, withdrawing soldiers from the confrontation zone, all the other rights are still in Ling’s hands."

"What kind of terms have they reached with Lang Cai and his cohorts?"

"I’m not sure about that, my people are investigating. I believe we’ll know soon."

"Well, you’re closer to the situation. Keep a close eye on what’s happening with Ling, send someone to gauge Ling’s attitude, see if we can draw him to our side."

"Alright."
