Tang Qing was rapidly flipping through the materials in his hand.
In his ear,
analysts from the command room were introducing the ins and outs of this company at a lightning-fast rate.
The analysis showed that the asking price of $120 million was neither high nor Ge Feng’s bottom line. Tang Qing wasn’t particularly bothered about the price, but he was not about to be taken for a fool either.
"Tangtang, are you going to buy this company?" Lin Jiaxue asked, sitting next to him. Seeing Tang Qing reviewing the documents so seriously, she thought he might be planning to buy it.
Tang Qing nodded: "I’m considering it. I’m checking if it’s worth it. If it is, there’s no harm in buying."
"But it’s so expensive, $120 million." Lin Jiaxue could hardly grasp how powerful a purchasing unit in billions of dollars might be, but she was certain it was enormous.
"Business is naturally about bargaining. You can’t just accept the price they quote. Don’t worry, I won’t make a loss." Tang Qing reassured her softly.
"Hmm,"
Lin Jiaxue responded,
Clinging tightly to Tang Qing’s arm
As for where Tang Qing’s money came from and whether it was legitimate or not, Lin Jiaxue was not worried in the slightest. If Tang Qing said it was okay, then it was okay. With his Uncle Tang Kai around, Tang Qing wouldn’t use questionable money.
However, negotiating for such transactions was not appropriate in such a public setting. If interested, they would reach out privately, else it would just be pure show-off which Tang Qing disliked. He closed the materials and returned them back to the cabinet.
At this time, Ge Feng was enthusiastically chatting with his friends, so Tang Qing didn’t disturb him.
Returning to his seat,
he found that Chai Ren had moved closer and was sitting next to him, looking at him with a jovial smile. Seeing Chai Ren’s smile, Tang Qing felt a sense of an underlying plot.
"Little Tang, are you interested in this company?" Chai Ren asked cheerfully. 𝖓𝔬𝔳𝖕𝖚𝖇.𝖈𝔬𝔪
"Yes, I am a bit interested." Tang Qing admitted as he sat down.
Chai Ren’s eyes lit up and he quickly asked: "Is it profitable?"
"It’s okay. Why? Is young master Chai also interested in this?" Tang Qing questioned back. If Chai Ren was interested, he could take him along. After all, Chai Ren had invited Tang Qing into Beijing’s real estate business. There should be a mutual exchange of courtesies.
"Of course, traditional businesses do have their spheres of influence domestically, but many emerging industries do not. Photovoltaic is one of them. As a future energy development direction, I am interested. But domestic technology is inadequate, the research and development cycle is too long, and there is no clear way to acquire foreign companies. That’s why I gave up on this idea before," Chai Ren explained.
"Why don’t we partner up?" Tang Qing asked directly.
Chai Ren shook his head vehemently, waving his hand as he said: "No, no, no. I don’t want to get involved with this company. But I am planning to venture into this industry. If there is a way to make money, I wouldn’t mind getting a share."
He had the wisdom to know his limitations. Except for some ulterior motives, Chinese people generally prefer to have full control.
Tang Qing was taken aback.
This Chai Ren indeed knows how to adapt to circumstances.
However, this works well. The future plan for this company was tremendous. The profits wouldn’t be less than Africa United Mining Group’s assets. Even parting with ten percent to Chai Ren would be somewhat hurtful.
Since Chai Ren was so tactful, it was all right to take him along.
He agreed.
"You’re being too modest, Master Chai. Rest assured, I am confident about this industry. I promise it won’t be as simple as giving you just a taste of the profits," said Tang Qing. He did not mind letting Chai Ren earn more; it was no big deal.
Hearing Tang Qing’s words,
Chai Ren got a feeling of being taken under someone’s wing. It was strange, but it felt right to him.
Discarding the monotonous thoughts at the back of his mind, the thought of having another channel to get rich made Chai Ren very excited. After all, who doesn’t like more money?
Tang Qing didn’t mind having more money anymore either. When he initially didn’t have any investment projects, he was a little flippant, but was quickly schooled by the system. Even with an excess of money, it would never be enough.
"That sounds excellent. We can discuss it when we return," said Chai Ren excitedly.
"Sure," Tang Qing responded.
Content, Chai Ren returned to chat with his group. He quietly told his wife about it, and Zhan Xi looked at Tang Qing with incredulity. A business deal worth hundreds of millions of dollars was being decided by young Tang Qing?
Watching Tang Qing, so nonchalant,
chatting intimately with Lin Jiaxue, he didn’t look like someone about to make a massive deal.
But then again, it made sense when considered against the background. Tang Qing’s assets in China had exceeded 2 billion RMB. He had entrusted his company to a management team, following the ’hands-off’ approach, and casually went to school.
Just making his presence known occasionally.
Thinking about it,
Tang Qing really was such a person. Meanwhile, the only others who knew about this were Mu Jian and his wife. Glancing at the oblivious Ge Feng, they held their tongues. After all, this was business between Tang Qing and Ge Feng; they would sort it out themselves.
"Jianzi, what kind of face are you making?" Ge Feng suddenly changed his way of addressing Mu Jian, imitating Chai Ren’s way of calling him ’Jianzi’.Seeing Mu Jian’s strange expression, direct-as-always Ge Feng asked.
Mu Jian couldn’t possibly explain. He shrugged: "I just think that you’re really lucky."
"What luck?" asked a puzzled Ge Feng.
"Tsk, you were born into such a great family, brought into this world with a gold key in your mouth. You have everything, lack nothing, your business is doing so well, your singing’s so good, unlike me -- my net worth hasn’t even reached $100 million. I’m so poor.... truly heartbreaking..."
Mu Jian has gotten to the point where lying comes as naturally as breathing, and he does it flawlessly.
Indeed.
Ge Feng believes him... Bullshit, there are no fools here.
But he didn’t question it, instead he said gravely, "This is the art of reincarnation, brother, something you’ll never learn. The most you can hope for is one day when you’re penniless, you can come to me and at least watch me eat."
"Friendship over, nice," scoffed Mu Jian.
"No nice, sigh, you don’t know how hard it is to find a rich person of my age who is Chinese. You should cherish the opportunity to know a rich guy like me. Don’t you feel like clinging onto my thigh after hearing this?" said Ge Feng triumphantly.
"I have an award I want to give to you, do you want it?" Mu Jian changed the subject.
"What award?"
"The Tumbleweed Award."
"What’s that about?"
"I think you have great potential."
"Really? What an honor."
"...."
Everyone listened with interest to the idiosyncratic banter between the two guys and laughed uproariously.
Although Tang Qing was mostly ignored, that’s exactly what he wanted. Unless necessary, he preferred to be part of the crowd rather than the center of attention. Listening to people talk was an interesting thing.
About two hours later.
People started to leave in dribs and drabs. Some lived nearby, others further afield. Some had things to do, or their work was not yet completed. The so-called gathering had basically come to an end.
The purpose of this gathering was achieved.
In the end, only Mu Jian and his group were left who intentionally stayed back for business talk with Tang Qing. Ge Feng was incredulous to learn that Tang Qing wanted to acquire his photovoltaic company.
"So, Boss Tang, you really want to buy that company?" Ge Feng confirmed, previously he wasn’t aware of Tang Qing’s financial ability.
"Yeah, I’m a bit interested, but the price is a bit high," Tang Qing nodded.
Having confirmed, Ge Feng happily said: "The price is negotiable. Just make a reasonable offer. As long as I don’t lose out, I won’t bargain." Ge Feng was sincere. He found such bad business deals to be meaningless. It’s okay if he makes a small profit as long as he doesn’t lose his investment.
"97 million dollars," Tang Qing’s bid was seven million dollars higher than Ge Feng’s initial buying price. Of course, this price was calculated after tax, meaning that Tang Qing would also bear the tax.
"You...okay, I agree," said Ge Feng, gritting his teeth and giving in.
His bottom line was 100 million dollars. After all, his company had also made some profits in recent years. But considering the dividends he received, this price didn’t put him at losse. It was a small gain, but still a bit painful.
Tang Qing’s offer was perfectly balanced.
It was a balance point that people would agree to after gritting their teeth.
Tang Qing gave a tiny smile. The Command Room’s offer was very reasonable indeed. He extended his right hand, "Director Ge, I look forward to our fruitful cooperation. My people will contact you in the United States as soon as possible."
"You really know how to negotiate a price," Ge Feng laughed bitterly as he shook hands with Tang Qing.
"You flatter me. It’s getting late, we should get going," Tang Qing prepared to bid farewell. The manor couldn’t accommodate them, and it wasn’t a castle either. Subtracting the room for the servants and bodyguards, there really wasn’t enough space to accommodate all three families.
And staying overnight here wasn’t fashionable.
"By the way, do you guys have plans for tomorrow? I originally planned to deal with the company’s matters. Now that it’s all taken care of, how about we can have a decent chat tomorrow?" Ge Feng invited.
Tang Qing was indifferent and looked at Chai Ren and Mu Jian.
Mu Jian immediately agreed without thinking: "Sure, we’ll be in your care tomorrow." Building a good relationship with Ge Feng was one of his goals in coming here, and now that he was doing business with Tang Qing, it was even harder to refuse.
Compared to Ge Feng’s family influence in the United States, Mu Jian’s family still had a long way to go.
"Be my guest. Tomorrow I’ll take you guys out fishing. My yacht just got a makeover, so it’s a good time to try it out," Ge Feng laughed heartily. A man capable of buying a company for nearly 100 million dollars was worth the time to build a friendship with.
After exchanging pleasantries for a bit longer.
They left Ge Feng’s villa.
Although their gathering had ended, the nightlife in the United States was just beginning.
They hadn’t gone far before they saw a full-fledged American party. It was near the main road, taking up a large area, and no one was complaining. They could hear the noise from a distance.
Tang Qing took out his mobile phone.
He made a call back to China.
A purchase project costing nearly 100 million dollars staggered the Sky Eye.
They knew.
Their chairman was about to stir things up again.
So, in less than three hours, the team members of this acquisition project boarded a flight to the United States.
