Chapter 792: Chapter 689: Our People Saved Them (Please Subscribe!)_1
Night was falling.
The soldiers arrived at the border between Congo Gold and Rwanda with Galina.
The border between the two countries was extremely long. Some places had iron railings and toll stations, but most parts were a wasteland where nothing stood in the way. They chose a path less trodden by people and drove directly through.
Galina was tense throughout the journey.
Not because she was afraid that Sadoke’s men would catch up.
But... there were a lot of minefields for goodness sake.
She was a journalist and knew quite a amount about this region. In order to secure these remote places, both countries had installed quite a number of landmines. As it evolved till today, even the locals have lost count of how many mines there were underground.
Let alone their precise locations.
Hence, people rarely came to these areas, considering them forbidden zones, with numerous minefield signs all along the way.
"Don’t worry, we’ve walked this path before, there are no land mines."
Responding to Galina’s doubt, a soldier gave a ’definite’ answer.
Yet, no matter how closely Galina scanned her surroundings, she couldn’t tell if the area seemed walked upon. There were overgrown weeds all around, mess everywhere on the land, and without a single trace of a tyre track on the road; the environment here dictated that the passage of a vehicle would leave a noticeable trail for a year.
"I hope so."
Galina held her breath.
They crossed the borderline of the two countries.
The soldier announced punctually, "Miss Galina, we have arrived within Rwanda’s territory. We will continue our journey tonight and should be able to reach Rwanda’s Capital Airport by dawn. If you’re tired, feel free to rest."
"Thank you. Once we get to the airport, my father will send someone to pick me up. How much did this rescue cost? I’ll ask my father to pay you." Galina knew that it was Chai Ren who arranged for her rescue, and she also knew that money was spent. She just didn’t know how much the sum was.
Furthermore, this expense.
It couldn’t be borne by Chai Ren.
"That’s not according to the payment procedure. If you want to make the payment on behalf of someone else, you need to find the employer and pay him." The soldier still maintained his rigid stance.
Galina responded with a hum and fell silent.
She pulled out her mobile phone again.
She called her father. She had already figured out the attitude of these rescuers; they didn’t want her to ask random questions and wouldn’t entertain any small talk even if she did. They were cold, but they didn’t restrict her phone usage.
"Father." Galina spoke into the phone.
"Where are you now? I heard Sadoke’s men have blocked all the major transportation routes of Bei Ji Province, reinforcing their soldiers to closely inspect passing vehicles. Be careful. Do you need me to send more people to help?" Ivanovich hastily asked.
After glancing at the soldiers next to her, Galina replied with a wry smile, "Father, we’ve reached Rwandan territory and we should be able to reach the airport by dawn."
"You... left Bei Ji Province?" Ivanovich was completely taken aback.
This wasn’t logical. Retreating should be meticulously planned, right? In accordance with the traffic routes on the map, even with good road conditions, they shouldn’t have been in Rwanda by now... Did they take the highway?
"Yes, we’ve taken many detours to dodge being tracked. We just arrived in Rwanda." Galina explained.
"Back roads? Minefields?" Ivanovich was shocked again.
Galina hurriedly assured him, "They said they’ve walked this path before and it’s very safe. We haven’t passed through any checkpoints. It would be safe all the way; they wouldn’t risk their lives. And about the money for the rescue mission, we just have to pay Qian Lei’s boss. We can’t pay directly, it’s not according to procedure."
"That’s good... that’s good..." Ivanovich breathed a sigh of relief, thinking to himself that these professionals indeed had a detailed evacuation plan, as if they had meticulously crafted it beforehand. He didn’t know who Chai Ren had hired for this task.
...
Sadoke’s palace.
It was brightly lit.
Sadoke paced back and forth in the living room.
The news he was receiving dropped his heart to a low point. The longer the delay, the more remote his hopes of catching Galina. Now it was getting dark, his hope was even slimmer.
"Boss, there’s no news at all." The Secretary said, wiping sweat from his forehead.
"Bang..."
Sadoke kicked over a potted plant and the Secretary trembled in fear.
"Useless." Sadoke shouted.
And then fell silent.
Because he knew anger wouldn’t solve anything.
If by noon tomorrow still no clues have emerged, it was likely he’d have to declare the search over.
Given someone has meticulously planned it, they won’t hang around waiting to be caught. They might have even planned a covert evacuation route. Who knows, they might have already left Bei Ji Province, outside of his jurisdiction.
Depressed.
Sadoke was demoralised.
The easy money has slipped away from his grasp.
Suddenly, a soldier ran in.
"Boss Sadoke, a man outside has requested an audience, claiming to know where Galina is."
Sadoke was stunned.
"Who?"
"I don’t know. He’s dressed very formally, a suit from head to toe. He didn’t bring any weapons, and raised his hands as soon as he approached the gate of the palace. He said he knows where Galina is and wants to see you. He insists he won’t say anything unless he sees you." The soldier relayed.
"I..." Sadoke looked at the soldier as if he was a monster.
He really wanted to strangle him.
He’s not acting in a movie.
As the big boss, is he available for just anyone to meet?
"Idiot, wouldn’t you have questioned him if he didn’t talk? Seeing me? What if he’s an assassin trying to kill me, is this how you protect me?" Sadoke was infuriated, did he need to spell it out for them?
Am I someone anyone can meet as they please?
"Yes, I will immediately arrest him." The soldier was abashed by his scolding.
He was about to turn around to apprehend the man.
At this moment, a voice came from outside the door.
"No need, Leader Sadoke."
Looking towards the source of the sound, Sadoke saw a tall black man in a suit walking in.
"It’s him, how did you access this place?" The guard panicked, pointing his weapon at the newcomer.
Sadoke and his secretary were taken aback.
Without their permission, this man had made it into the room, where was the palace security?
Were they all blind?
The stranger sauntered nonchalantly into the room: "Don’t fret, I’ve come to do business, not to kill people. Leader Sadoke, arranging a meeting with you has been quite difficult. For our first meeting, allow me to introduce myself, I am Biyabu. I apologize for the intrusion, but I hope you will appreciate my visit."
Sadoke studied the man before him, failing to discern any hints of his origins.
"What happened to my men? How did you get in here?" Sadoke asked with a dark expression.
"I simply walked in." The man took a step forward.
While Sadoke found this hard to believe, there was no disputing the fact that he was indeed inside.
Just then.
A soldier burst into the room.
"Ah, you dare attack us, leader, I..." The man pointed his gun at the intruder.
"How did he get in?" Sadoke asked harshly.
Trembling, the soldier quickly responded, "Just now, we detained him in the room by the main entrance, awaiting your directions. However, he launched a surprise attack, and we were knocked to the ground. He disappeared when we looked again, and I immediately came to report."
Taking two steps back, Sadoke regarded this dangerous individual. He had dispatched his personal guard and managed to make it inside this room. If he came to assassinate Sadoke, Sadoke would likely already be dead.
"Leader Sadoke, I did what I had to, please understand." The black fighter didn’t seem apologetic at all, but he was quite respectful.
"Do you know where Galina is? Speak, name your terms." Sadoke cut to the chase.
The fighter grinned. "Galina was rescued by our people."
At this statement.
The two soldiers almost pulled their triggers.
Sadoke felt a surge of rage.
As he stared at the fighter, his anger remained long after the words were spoken.
The culprit turned himself in at the ’victim’s’ home. Was this bragging or something else?
He took a deep breath.
Fighting his anger.
Sadoke stared intently at the fighter. He saw no mockery, only indifference. It was a face that was confident and fearless. Sadoke wanted to seize him, but clearly, the man hadn’t come to flaunt his power.
"Is this why you sought me out?" Sadoke spat. 𝘯𝘰𝑣𝘱𝑢𝘣.𝑐𝑜𝑚
The black fighter shook his head and chuckled. "Of course not. Galina’s situation was simply a pretext. This visit is about partnering with you. I know you’re interested in something Ivanovich possesses. We have the same item. I wonder if you’d like to have it, Leader Sadoke."
"What? You have it too?" Sadoke frowned, his first reaction was disbelief.
The man who had taken Galina away was here to sell him goods. It made sense, thinking about it. If we had been two suppliers, and he held an important negotiating chip with one of them, he would have substantial bargaining power.
The man had stolen this chip.
Now only one supplier remained and that supplier could charge a high price. This logic was Sadoke’s most likely interpretation of today’s events and everything seemed to fit together.
The fighter didn’t care about Sadoke’s deductions and continued. "Yes, our equipment is better than Ivanovich’s and it’s also from the Soviet Union, but it’s newer. It’s like perfectly preserved new equipment."
"Why should I believe you?" Sadoke asked cautiously.
"You can make the payment once the equipment has been properly set up." The fighter casually suggested.
"You’re saying that I can get the production line first?" Sadoke was surprised. "Could this really be happening?"
"Yes. We may have many future collaborations, and we can consider this as the beginning of our friendship. The entire production line costs only 20 million dollars, which includes all setup costs. Maintenance costs will be separate. Once you agree, our equipment can start moving. As for how it will arrive and where it will come from, all you need to do is wait for our notification."
"When can I get the goods?" Sadoke asked.
"In a week. After a week, the production line will appear on your territory." The fighter responded.
After thinking for a moment, it was just a bit pricier than Ivanovich’s offer and not unacceptable. Plus it was cash on delivery, no deposit was needed. Sadoke nodded, "Deal. Can I know who you are?"
"It’s just the beginning, once you see our sincerity and as our partnership deepens, you will find out. Our trust needs time to build. As soon as the equipment arrives, I will contact you."
"Okay, I’ll take it." Sadoke repeated.
"Pleasure doing business with you."
"Pleasure doing business with you."
Without needless banter, the fighter turned and walked away upon finishing his speech.
After he left.
"Do you think he is trustworthy?" Sadoke asked his secretary.
The secretary whispered, "Not entirely. It could be a ploy to lower our guard, making it easier for Galina to escape."
Sadoke nodded, "Yes, that’s what I was thinking too. If it’s true, it would be beneficial for us, if it’s a scam, it means Galina is still on our territory. They might be trying to use this method to lull us into complacency. It’s a headache, who should we believe?"
"I suggest we remain highly vigilant. Until we see the equipment, we should intensify our search."
"Alright, intensify the search, just in case."
"Yes."
