Nyx glanced at the giant monster in front of her with furious eyes, this thing was most likely behind everything that's been happening in this swamp, from the Nightmare Beasts to how Alma almost died!
And it was all coming from the girl's own darkness. It was as if her own nightmares, traumas, suffering, and all her negative emotions were becoming a putrid sludge that infected everything.
"Is that a Nightmare?" Fran asked. "Nyx?"
"A-A Nightmare?! You mean the evil monsters that killed my father?" Alma asked, panicking. "N-No…! They've come after me now!"
"C-Calm down!" Nyx said. "I can handle this on my own! It's not even that strong, but it is trying to bring all the monsters into the swamps! We have to slay it first before things get worse for us."
"W-What do we do? Can we help somehow?" Fran asked.
"Stay behind for now!" Nyx said. "Your Snowman and the Snowdragon, and my Phantom Dragons will protect you! You can't fight, so it's better if you stay out of danger."
"Okay…"
Fran nodded, feeling a bit frustrated, but she also knew it was for the better not to disturb Nyx's battle and leave her handle this.
"GRAHAHAHA!"
The gigantic, monstrous man-shaped sludge laughed, as his massive arms began to rapidly stretch around and grow larger and aberrant, they multiplied rapidly, growing a dozen of them and attacking Nyx with them.
"{Dragonoid Transformation}!"
RUMBLE!
Nyx didn't waste time, rapidly transforming as her aura exploded, her entire body transformed into half dragon, as her stats rapidly skyrocketed.
Her wings spread out, as her aura erupted, transforming into hundreds of ghostly draconic claws!
"{Draconic Ghostly Claws}!"
CLASH! CLASH! CLASH! CLASH!
She rapidly intercepted the attacks coming towards her, the massive Nightmare-like entity was shocked as every blow was destroyed by her fiery claws encompassed of phantasmal and dark flames.
"GRRRHHH…! GRUOOOHHH!"
The monster grew even more furious however, rapidly distorting his face as it became long, his mouth growing tremendously larger and then, charging energy from within to fire a massive crimson laser beam!
TRUUUMMM!!!
Nyx gathered her essence into her hands, as her Divine Ember blazed with new power, her Aura growing several times stronger.
"HAAAAHHH!"
With a ferocious roar, she released a powerful shockwave from her body, the beam was stopped in midair! A rumbling tremor reverberated through the entire underground swamps.
CRAAASH!
The beam began to rapidly become overpowered by Nyx's sheer divine and magical power, her shockwave-like aura expanded constantly, until she gave it shape again.
"{Spectral Hydra}!"
Her Aura transformed, becoming hundreds of hydra heads opening their jaws and firing beams against the Nightmare, its own laser cannon was overpowered as several beams unified together.
And then…
BOOOMMM!!!
A massive explosion hit the Nightmarish abomination, its entire body exploding and splattering into the water beneath, burning and turning into ashes.
"D-Did that do it?" Fran asked.
"Maybe? I think so!" Alma nodded.
"…"
Nyx remained in silence, expanding her senses, she knew that something so strong wouldn't die so easily… the presences of the Nightmare Beasts approaching was also strong, they were still being controlled.
SPLASH!
"GWRAAAHHH!"
Before she could find it, the monster emerged, splashing out of the water right beneath Fran and Alma, his jaws opening into a gigantic maw filled with sharp teeth, aiming to devour both girls.
"Uwaah?!"
"Aaaaah!"
Fran and Alma screamed in horror as the jaws rapidly rushed towards them, only for Nyx to close the palm of her hands, and…
"{Spectral Spiritual Marble}!"
FLUOSH!
All the Phantom Dragons around the girls merged into a sphere containing them both, which was then reinforced and strengthened into a powerful Spectral Barrier.
CLAANK!
The Nightmarish Abomination's jaws gnawed at it, but they were unable to break through the defenses, strengthened by Nyx's high Magic Stat and her Divine Ember.
"W-We're safe?!" Fran asked.
"N-Nyx saved us…" Alma muttered.
"Hah! Did you think I would let you do that? I always knew you would aim for them eventually dumbass!"
As Nyx said that the Snowman and the Snowdragon leaped towards the monster, attacking it with powerful freezing punches and icy dragon breath, slowing it down.
"Well done! I'll take it from here! You two protect Fran and Alma!"
Nyx rushed forward, swinging her gigantic Dream Weapon as she infused it with her Calamity Flames, striking the monster's head at full force.
"{Spectral Cleave}!"
CRAAASH!
Her flames absolutely destroyed her foe's body, as more and more of the black sludge was decimate and turned into ashes.
"GRYYYAAEERGH!" 𝔫𝖔𝔳𝔭𝔲𝔟.𝖈𝔬𝔪
The monstrosity escaped with the rest of its body into the waters again! And yet Nyx wasn't going to let it escape either, pointing her hands at the water.
"{Abyssal Phantom Nova}!"
With a mighty incantation, Nyx imitated her mother's powerful spells, creating a huge sphere of darkness and phantasmal flames and firing it at the water itself!
BOOOMMM!!!
The heat was so immense all the water instantly evaporated everywhere, filling the surroundings with steam. Fran and Alma couldn't see a thing.
"G-GRAAAGGH!"
And then, they heard the monster's scream, as Nyx found it instantly with her superior draconic senses, rushing down and beginning to strike it down with her weapon.
"I found ya! Without all the water, you became a lot more solid too, eh?"
She smiled, the steam rapidly dissipated with a wave of her weapon, revealing a giant, shapeless mutant monster made of black mud, it wasn't as liquid as before this time, much heavier and also unable to expand as easily.
"GRUUAAAGH!"
And yet the monster didn't give up either, fueled by the girl's dark emotions, its red eyes opened, firing hundreds of small laser beams at Nyx, which she rapidly intercepted and blocked with her weapon.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
"I am not as weak as before!"
As she easily evaded or blocked the laser beams, Nyx swung her axe again, cleaving through the monster's body and rapidly turning it ablaze.
Her powerful draconic flames rapidly started to burn the monstrosity's body into ashes, it tried to escape, but Nyx always dragged it back, creating barriers to inhibit its escape.
The Nightmare Beasts had already arrived, but yet another barrier blocked the entrance too!
"It's over for you!"
With all her strength, Nyx crushed the monster's crystalized core, defeating it once and for all.
CRAAASH!
