NOVPUBIt was already three o'clock in the night, quite late and yet everyone was starved after their visit to the academy. The maids were risen out of their bed in the night to prepare some tea and snacks. They all sat around the table and ate, discussing what they had seen and how they thought they would fare in the academy.
Andre, the braggart was boasting about his abilities. He was sure that he would excel greatly. They also traded ideas who the next head of the spellweavers was.
Phoebe was sure that it was Sabrina which introduced a new round of teasing for Andre as Sabrina was his future world. Grandma Mayfair was hoping that it was true.
The Mayfair's finally went to bed at around four in the morning.
Phoebe slept with ease and yet her dreams were very restless. She dreamed of the supernatural war and its ending. In her dream, Star waved goodbye and vanished in the air.
When Phoebe woke up after sleeping for just five hours, she was drenched in sweat and alone in bed. The cloak on the wall said it was coming to ten. David's side of the bed was cold. It seemed he had woken up earlier than her.
She moved to the space to remedy her greatest fear and make her first wish. She did not know if there would be any backlash against her or if the wish was selfish, but she had to make it.
"No matter what happens, my child should come out safe at the end the end of it all." She went ahead to make the wish. Even if it cost her half of her life span or all of it she would save Star.
The fate of her baby would not be like that of the grand guardians she had read about in the book. From time immemorial they were like sacrificial lambs in the war; magic bombs born to detonate and wipe away all evil. There was bound to be a way to change it.
Phoebe's mind remained in a state of unrest, and she made a second wish, but it was the same one. Phoebe did not know if counted as two wishes.
What she knew was that if the space failed to help her, she would try the coins that Luther had given her.
The sky in the space rumbled ferociously as if to let her know that her wish had been granted. She noticed a change mark on her hand; it was three lines and one disappeared.
She took it as the sign that one wish was gone. Happy with that, she returned to the real world. Surprise made her squeal when she saw someone on the bed.
It was David and he had already ordered them both breakfast which had been delivered to the bedroom. He had not gone to work as she predicted.
"Good morning beautiful, anything new in the space?" He asked, a warm smile tugged on his lips. He opened the curtains with a clicker and one window automatically moved up bringing in some clean fresh air.
Phoebe smiled back, shaking her head as she walked to the sofa and joined him. "The space is the same as ever. Have your people that have been keeping an eye on Evelyn got anything new to share? I keep giving myself mini heart attacks every time I check her social media pages and see her hugging, kissing or showing off that fat demon." She put a grape in her mouth chewing and talking at the same time. " David I am worried. I know that we decided not to do anything to Enigma just yet such that we can know who he is working with but my heart pounds each time I think of him with her. He could turn Evelyn evil you know. We need to separate them or let her in on the secret but how will I tell my friend her fiancé is actually a demon."
David took a small bite of a warm ginger cookie, making a sound in agreement. "I am worried too which is why I have not just one but many eyes on him." He said, his brows pulling together. "By the way was it Star that told you that he was a demon the day of the wedding?" He asked.
Nodding, Phoebe admitted. "And you? You were kind of out of it when you saw the man_it was almost like you knew him; you even stopped me from following him and Evelyn meaning that you know something." She inquired only to validate her doubts.
David sipped his steaming coffee and set the cup aside. "You are right, I do know him from our past lives. He was Ruth's henchman and whoever she was working with. That man killed a good number of people from both our families." He answered, taking another sip of the coffee.
A startled laugh came from her lips. "Enigma? My goodness! Now that I know this, I do not think that I will control my temper when I see him." She paused, leaning forward with her hands on the table. "Was he a demon then too? I mean he is one now." She knitted her brows.
David chewed on the insides of his mouth; Phoebe had raised a valid question. "I am not certain, but he had outwardly strength that was not human. I witnessed him fighting with Polly and he took him down with three moves. You have seen Polly's size, the man is a mountain and yet to Enigma, Polly was like a house kitten.
Enigma and his minions were thrilled when I handed over the deed to the Saxon tower to save the Saxons that were still alive. In fact, he told them to start digging and search everywhere, I just didn't know what they were searching for." He told her what he remembered.
Phoebe tapped her chin repeatedly with her index finger. "Searching for something? Let us say that perhaps they were demons do you think that they were after the crystals even in the past life? We know that there are deposits of them beneath the tower. The other option could be the secret portal leads to the school." 𝘯𝑜𝑣𝑝𝑢𝘣.𝑐𝑜𝑚
David pushed the ginger cookies Phoebe's way. "I dislike the fact that our breakfast is nothing but demon talk. When was the last time that we had a normal meal and talked about us?"
"When you took me to that burger restaurant where each burger costs five hundred dollars but runs out in two bites. You really have to stop with these luxury restaurants sweetie." Phoebe shoved two cookies into her mouth at the same time.
"You ate ten of those burgers." He answered.
She sent him a glare with his eyes which told him that he had said the wrong thing.
"Star ate the burgers." He changed his words.
Star kicked Phoebe's stomach, not too pleased about being gluttonous. After being kicked, Phoebe glared at David again. He could not see Star, but she was glaring at him as well.
David cleverly changed the topic. "You are right about the demons. They must have got the information from someone which is why they were so determined to get the Saxon tower." David decided to look at the eggs and not Phoebe.
The spirit floated near them. "Maybe it is why Bradley came to the tower, perhaps they already know. You have to tell Rufus to strengthen the supernatural protection around the tower. Whoever Enigma works for knows where those damn crystals are already." It advised.
