"Why?" Noah asked. He felt bile rising in his throat and churning in his gut.
"She has ghost problems, not demon problems as far as I know. We should separate her from the demons and deal with her matter separately." Phoebe told him.
"I know just what to say." Noah said confidently. He made the call and then told them that she had said she was on her way.
Phoebe peeked into the building with magic and saw Eliza getting into an elevator. Then, she told Santos to drive them back to Coracora.
*******
Eliza Grant rushed home when her husband informed her that her cat, Fresha was unresponsive and about to die for an unknown reason. She was however surprised on getting home only to find him holding it in his arms. He was not alone; however, strange people were with him__ghost catchers.
The ghost that was wearing Eliza's body had been around long enough to sniff a ghost catcher. It had seen many ghosts fall at the hands of bell wielding humans with the bells Rekha was holding.
It also recalled Phoebe, she was the shaman that had tried to warn Eliza two times to find her for help, but Eliza never did.
For half a minute, there was a standoff between the humans and the ghost inside Eliza. She eyed them warily and they looked at her cautiously. It was Maureen that broke the momentum by touching Fresha's head which made the cat cry out.
"Ha-ha-ha, I cannot believe that she actually came home because of a damn cat." Maureen laughed manically, patting the animal's head.
Noah cleared his throat. "She never would have come if it was I that was unresponsive, she does not care for me and now I know why. She is not my wife." He snarled, eyes dilating like those of a predator.
"Honey what are you talking about?" The ghost feigned ignorance, putting up a good act and smiling coyly. "Why would you think that honey? Of course I care for you. If I don't care about my husband, then who will I care about in the world? And who are these people and why are they in our house?
You know that I hate intruders. We are still mourning the loss of our children; I have been burying myself in work to forget my pain. Honey, send them away so that we can discuss our family affairs." She spoke smoothly, almost convincing them all that it was Eliza that they were speaking to. "I visited a fertility expert yesterday that said it was not impossible for us to have another child. I rushed home today, not for Fresha but to share this news."
She stretched out her hand, urging Noah to go to her. She had known him as long as Eliza had and she knew just what buttons to push to soften him like a mashed banana.
Noah blinked rapidly, doubt was forming in his head. He felt a heat at the back of his head and gulped. He had a feeling that Maureen would crack his skull if he took Eliza's hand, so he refused. "No-no, I already know the truth! These people told me everything, that you are not really Eliza! Where is my wife and what have you done to her? I don't want anything, I just need my wife back," He fell on his knees as if begging for the ghost to let go of his wife.
"Darling I am your wife; whatever they said to you is a lie. You cannot believe that shaman, I know her." The ghost pointed at Phoebe. "She has been stalking me saying that a ghost is haunting me which is not true. Why would a ghost haunt me, I can barely hurt a fly." It continued to try to weasel its way out of the situation. "That woman is just a charlatan that is after our money. How much has she asked you for?"
Noah wiped his eyes dry; his wife would not hurt anyone at Least not to the point of being haunted by a ghost. She was sweet to him and a kind mother to their children. She was ruthless in business but only because she had to be.
Perhaps there had been a mistake made or maybe the ghost was already gone. He looked at Maureen warily and did not dare to take a step forward.
Maureen let out a derisive laugh. "Oh, cut the crap you filthy ghost! I hate it when filth likes you talks a little too much." She threw a kitty knuckle at it. "Fuck yeah!" She cheered, her eyes shifting to Noah. "Your wife was right-handed right?" She asked him.
"Yes" Noah answered.
Maureen sneered on hearing that answer. "That bitch just played catch with her left hand, it is the dominant one. She is not your wife but a filthy ghost masquerading as her." Her hand reached for her bells; it was about time to expel the ghost out of Eliza's body.
The ghost let out a laugh, one that was as loud as it was condescending. "This was all very funny, but I have to leave now." It tried to spin around but its feet were pinned to the floor.
"Good job Star." Maureen shouted, what she did not know was that the Saxon spirit was the one holding the ghost in one position not Star.
Quickly, they slapped talismans allover Eliza's body despite its violent protests.
"Stop that it hurts! Noah please." Eliza's body shuddered like she was shocked by current.
Noah chewed on his nails nervously and begged the ghost team not to hurt Eliza in the process.
The chanting of spells began_the point was to torture it for Phoebe wanted to know what Enigma was up to. The ghost let out painful screams asking Noah to help but in vain, then it revealed it callous nature by insulting him.
"You are weak, spineless bastard, she hates you, you know. Eliza finds you disgusting and she has been fucking all other executives in the company. Do you want to hear the things she says about you in private?" She looked up and cackled like a witch about to burn down a village.
"Ignore everything that she says." Maureen told him.
"She takes it up the ass like a dog." The ghost screeched.
Maureen punched Eliza across the jaw and stuck a paper talisman down her throat. It was the ember seal talisman which ignited a flame from inside the body. A burning sensation flared up inside and the ghost screamed in unnamed pain.
"Noah please." The voice changed, and it seemed as if the original Eliza came forward.
Anxiously, Noah replied, "Honey, I am going to save you. These shamans will save you, I promise."
"Save her!" The voice changed back to a rough raw sound they had come to associate with the ghost. "Eliza does not need to be saved she is a murderer. I have infiltrated her entire being, our souls are one. If you expel me out of this body, she dies." Its laughter rippled like an echo from another dimension, harmonizing with itself in impossible ways.
Noah sank further on the floor, energy draining from him completely. "No." He whispered. "My Eliza would never kill anyone, that damn thing is lying." His voice became raised suddenly.
"Poor, poor Noah! Did Eliza ever tell you how truly that company was started? It was my blood and sweat not hers like she likes to lie about. She is a thief, liar and murderer." The ghost's cold grave murmur slithered into their ears.
