Chapter 247: Chapter 247: Why Are You Arguing with a Child?
Deng Wenwen, who had failed to have the last two demands met, lost her temper as she glared at Gu Hongwei and snapped, "Who asked you to serve it?"
"Then should I serve it?" Zhou Lei suddenly chimed in.
Speaking frankly, at first glance, he thought Deng Wenwen was pretty attractive, but her temper proved otherwise. Her words were sharp and confrontation was clearly aimed at Tong Yao. With her pretentious attitude, Zhou Lei’s initial impression of her quickly soured.
However, they were in the service industry, and they had to suck it up.
"I want her to serve me." Deng Wenwen pointed at Tong Yao and commanded assertively.
Liu Qing was enjoying the drama from the sidelines, holding her child. She didn’t interfere; she actually wanted Deng Wenwen to escalate the situation.
It was heard a few days ago that Professor Qu was planning to let Si Chen observe a major surgery, which was clearly intended to groom him. Many people felt it was unjustifiable to accord such privilege to a newcomer like him.
There were not only one exceptionally talented doctor. It was not clear what Professor Qu saw in Si Chen, or why he had such high expectations for him, despite him being a fresh graduate. If it wasn’t for the fact that Si Chen hailed from Li City, she might have suspected that they were related.
Tong Yao observed Deng Wenwen and Liu Qing’s attitudes and knew they were purposely making things difficult for her. However, she maintained a peaceful smile while declining, "Our shop doesn’t offer this service. If you don’t agree with them serving, you can come up to the counter yourself!"
No one would put up with their antics here.
Deng Wenwen narrowed her eyes. "Bring your boss out, I want to complain about you. What kind of crappy service is this?"
Tong Yao smirked. The boss was standing right in front of you, yet you fail to recognize it. Whose fault is that?
"The boss is busy and doesn’t have time to meet customers. If you have complaints about our service, you can write a complaint letter. I’ll inform her the next time she comes."
Tong Yao handed a pen and paper to her. Deng Wenwen didn’t back down, she grabbed the pen and paper and began to write.
"Let’s write it, with your service attitude, if I were the boss, I would have fired you hundreds of times already."
Tong Yao responded, "Fortunately, you’re not my boss."
As they were all neighbors, Liu Qing didn’t want to escalate the situation. Seeing that the situation was under control, she attempted to play the good person, "Wenwen, I think you should let it go. We all live in the same residential area, Dr. Si has even saved you before. Consider this favor for me, don’t write this letter. If Tong Yao loses her job, she would have to run all over the place looking for work."
Hearing this, an annoyed Tong Yao retorted, "Don’t nonsense. I know very well who my man has saved."
Liu Qing felt embarrassed by Tong Yao’s rebuttal. She had made the effort to mediate, but now the hostility is directed at her. She decided to let Deng Wenwen write the letter. We’d see who would regret it when Tong Yao lost her job.
Deng Wenwen poured much effort into her letter. It was as though she was writing a thesis; she managed to fill up an entire page. If she had applied such diligence to her studies, she probably wouldn’t have failed her exams.
After she finished her letter, Deng Wenwen and Liu Qing left with the half-finished milk tea. Right after they left, Tong Yao tossed the complaint letter into the bin without even reading it.
In the following days, Deng Wenwen came daily as if it were her job. Each time, she wrote a complaint letter. Without exception, each letter was tossed into the bin by Tong Yao.
After a few days, Tong Yao realized that Deng Wenwen wasn’t all that bad. She was just a spoiled child who was reckless and naive, and probably in her rebellious phase. Deng Wenwen didn’t have someone to guide her, which made her rather annoying.
As Deng Wenwen frequented the shop, she started to get along with Zhou Lei, and the two would sometimes share a joke. But whenever she saw Tong Yao, she would give her dirty looks; it somehow gave her a sense of satisfaction.
No one knew exactly when it started, but Deng Wenwen began to come for milk tea during Zhou Lei’s shift. Her complaint letters became less verbose, but she insisted on writing them regardless. Complaining about Tong Yao became her excuse for coming to the shop.
Though this young lady was not very likeable, her daily visits added some fun in their lives. As Tong Yao started to understand Deng Wenwen’s personality, she began to dislike her less.
About half a month later, her uncle and her godfather could no longer tolerate the situation. They decided to sell the property. Tong Xiangqiao and her family moved out from the old house.
During this era, the living standard wasn’t as affluent. But there was no shortage of wealthy people in Kyoto. Within a week, the property was sold for a total of 386,000 yuan. Tong Yaohui received 128,600 yuan from the sum.
On the day of the split, Wen Yun didn’t want to see those people, so she didn’t attend. She hadn’t been home in a while. Now that the issue was resolved, she was planning to clean the house and move back home.
Tong Yao went to visit her uncle’s home with Tong Yaohui.
Except for their uncles and the two daughters-in-law who were not home, everyone else was present. Not surprisingly, from adults to children, everyone had a gloom spread across their face. The splitting of property felt like a punishment to them.
Lin Shuxin’s son even went as far as to start punching Tong Yaohui’s stomach while shouting, "You’re a bad guy! It’s your fault that we don’t have a place to live anymore! I will kill you!"
Despite the boy being so young, his punches felt like blows from a wooden stick. Tong Yaohui tolerated it, considering his young age. But Tong Yao didn’t, she directly pushed him aside and said coldly.
"Continue to be impolite, and I will throw you outside."
This child turned out to be an incredible actor. Tong Yao had merely pushed him, but he started rubbing his eyes and sobbing, claiming that Tong Yao had hit him.
Tong Yaohui held the Achilles’ heel of the two families. Even when they pretended to be angry, they didn’t dare to make a scene. Just then, a girl of about the same age as Tong Yao emerged from the crowd to soothe the child. She then reproached Tong Yao:
"Are you picking on a child?"
This was none other than Lin Shuangxi, Tong Xiangqiao’s daughter. After having Lin Shuxin, Tong Xiangqiao gave birth to a daughter a few years later. When she grew up, Lin Shuangxi found her name old fashioned and wished to change it. Tong Yao hadn’t been in touch with her for years and didn’t know if she had changed her name.
One must admit though, Lin Shuangxi resembled her uncle in appearance, even her facial features bore some resemblance with Tong Yao.
No wonder they say nieces tend to resemble their uncles; it appears there is some truth to it.
Tong Yao stopped glaring at Lin Shuangxi, and responded dryly, "I have a small body and narrow mind, and I am not magnanimous. So, it would be better if you do not mess with me, regardless of whether this involves a child."
When they were younger, Tong Yao and Lin Shuangxi never got along. Whenever they met, they argued. Now that money was involved, their fragile relationship shattered completely.
