Chapter 313: Chapter 313: Doctor Si is Almost Kidnapped
Even though Si Chen had never mentioned anything about Si Weimin and Lin Fengying, the identity of Si Xiaohui was not a mystery to Tong Yao. The only thing she was yet unsure of was the cause of her father-in-law’s death.
Sometimes, she wished that Si Chen would open his heart and share some of his concerns with her, so she wouldn’t have to bear the burden alone.
Si Chen hung a towel on the rack and openly said, "I have some issues with all of them."
Si Chen knew that Tong Yao was smart and sensitive to many things. She might have already guessed something, but it was indeed hard for him to disclose everything.
He wasn’t sure how Tong Yao would perceive the Si family’s darkest secret, if exposed. He wondered if she would find him disgusting.
The world Tong Yao lived in was so clean, and he didn’t want to taint her ears or her world view with these sordid details.
Noticing that he didn’t want to elaborate, Tong Yao jokingly changed the subject, "If you’re busy, then don’t bother. I’ll be busy for a few days as well. Xiaohui has her little uncle’s support now, so she’s not treating me too kindly anyway. I don’t feel like running around after her."
Si Xiaohui was the quintessential tyrant, treating others poorly just because she has someone backing her. But Tong Yao wasn’t the type to be bullied.
As for Lin Fengying, she wasn’t visiting to see her anyway. Tong Yao didn’t feel like pleasing her ungratefully.
Frankly, since finding out Lin Fengying’s secret, her impression of her had deteriorated, and she was only being polite due to being her mother-in-law.

"Then don’t bother going there. Let them go and make a fuss on their own," Si Chen indifferently said.
Tong Yao forced a smile, tiptoed and planted a kiss on his cheek, "I love it when you’re clear-headed like this."
The look in Si Chen’s eyes deepened. He tousled Tong Yao’s hair, whispering, "Behave. Please leave for a while, I want to shower."
He had a habit of not having any intimate contact with Tong Yao before he showered after work. It was a basic precautionary measure for Tong Yao.
Being a doctor, he came into contact with many patients. It was highly probable that some of them had contagious diseases. To practice safety and good personal hygiene was his responsibility towards himself and his family.
Knowing Si Chen’s habit, Tong Yao suppressed her laughter and teased him, "Do you want me to scrub your back?"
"Are you sure you want to scrub my back?"
Si Chen grinned at her while placing his hands on his button. Tong Yao blushed and quickly ran out of the room. She could hear Si Chen’s muffled laughter which made her embarrassed, and she patted her blushing cheeks.
How ridiculous. They’ve been married for such a long time now, yet she was still getting embarrassed over the idea of sharing a bath with Si Chen...
No woman could resist a man like Si Chen, it seemed.
Tong Yao sat in the living room and fanned herself until her face returned to its usual fair complexion. A cat meowed outside the window, and she looked up to see a tri-colored cat jumping in from the window.
Tong Yao waved at it, "Come and have some dried fish."
Ever since Deng Wenwen gave her the tri-colored cat, Tong Yao had bought it a cat bed and lots of dried fish. It had gained weight from all the food and now walked with a strut, reminiscent of an ancient rich landlord.
Thankfully, aside from eating a lot, it didn’t have any bad habits. It could catch mice and was very good at gathering gossip. It knew everything about every family in the housing district. Tong Yao even knew about the couple who were arguing in secret and about other people’s financial situations.
The tri-colored cat sauntered over to Tong Yao and meowed, "You’re too carefree. Dr. Si is almost being snatched away and here you are busy feeding a cat."
"Hmm?" Tong Yao raised her eyebrow and asked in a low voice, "Who’s trying to steal Ah Chen?"
The cat jumped onto the television and sat arrogantly, like an imperious figure. "A woman named Lin Man, she visited Dr. Si today at the hospital. She mentioned that he had saved her life and even protected her from falling stones. Their past relationship seemed very intimate. It’s possible that she’s his ex-girlfriend and they could potentially rekindle their romance. You should be careful."
Ever since Tong Yao moved into the housing complex, the cat’s life had improved drastically. Given that Tong Yao was the only human who understood its language, it was particularly worried about her being replaced.
If Si Chen and Tong Yao broke up, Tong Yao would definitely move out of the housing complex. How would it manage then?
Tong Yao was almost furious, "Lin Man dared to come find Si Chen?" She almost missed the fact that someone was attempting to cross her.
This Lin Man is really audacious. She must have found out that Si Chen works here from Xiaohui. Does Lin Man also know that Si Chen is her cousin’s husband?
If Lin Man still shamelessly pursued Si Chen after knowing their relationship, it would be unforgivable.
"What was Ahchen’s reaction?" That was what Tong Yao cared most about.

He stated that a hospital is a place for treatment, not for recognizing relatives.]" The little tri-colored cat didn’t dare to exaggerate the story. Surgeons were always surrounded by the smell of blood due to their job nature. Cats were especially sensitive to the smell and feared it.
"That’s more like it." Tong Yao was satisfied with Si Chen’s response, which made her mood lighten.
At this moment, the bathroom door opened, and the tri-colored cat fled quickly into its cat bed pretending to sleep, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible.
Si Chen, with his wet hair, walked out of the bathroom, glanced at the cat bed, and noticed that the cat was pretending to sleep. But he didn’t say anything. He just gave an inquiring glance in the direction of the cat.
Seeing him come out, Tong Yao huffed and walked straight to the bedroom. When she was passing Si Chen, she deliberately bumped into his shoulder. Si Chen was left feeling helpless by her childish behavior. Knowing that she was not in a good mood, he followed her into the room.
Holding a towel in his hand, he asked softly, "What’s wrong?"
"Who did you meet today?" Tong Yao asked huffily.
Si Chen thought for a while before understanding why Tong Yao was upset. He gave her a gentle smile, "Are you angry about the Lin Man incident?"
Lin Man’s visit to the hospital was quite noticeable today. Many people saw her and it wasn’t surprising that word of it had reached Tong Yao’s ears. He wasn’t suspecting anything more.
"And you’re still laughing." Tong Yao puffed up her cheeks, "Lin Man is a nurse at the third hospital. I suppose she found out that you work here from Xiaohui, she probably knows that you’re her cousin’s husband as well, right? Yet, she still dares to seek you out, this shows her intentions very clearly."
