Chapter 335: Chapter 335: It Seems to Be Jealous
"Your kitty is really well-behaved, it can even bow, may I touch it?" The lady was quite polite, she did not immediately reach for the little raccoon cat, but chose to ask for Tong Yao’s opinion first.
"Of course!" Tong Yao squinted and smiled, "It seems to like you more, it usually doesn’t act this way around others."
The lady thought Tong Yao was a businesswoman saying flattering things purposely, but didn’t mind it. However, she did find the little raccoon cat adorable. After placing her little Teddy dog down, she stroked the cat. The little raccoon cat was quite good at acting cute and cuddled against the lady’s hand, chuckling her into laughter.
Tong Yao winked at the little raccoon cat, both of them sharing crafty smiles in their eyes.
The Teddy that was put down sensed its attention was being stolen by the little raccoon cat and began to bark and curse.
[Don’t touch it! Shoo, stinky cat! Scram, dead cat, or I’ll bite off all your fur. Leave, now.]
The little raccoon cat acted like it didn’t hear anything and continued to rub against the lady’s palm. If it behaved well today, it would be rewarded with dried yellow croaker tonight. This wasn’t cheap, some humans couldn’t even afford it.
Tong Yao said, as long as it helped win the lady’s favor, it would have dried yellow croakers every day. Plus, she would take it to live in a spacious house and give it a luxurious cat house.
Thus, the little raccoon cat made every effort to behave obediently and act cute, even making a squeaky noise. Tong Yao found it goosebump-inducing.
The Teddy was furious, biting at the lady’s trouser leg, and barking frantically,[Foul cat, move your smelly head away. Do not touch my master, if you dare touch again, I will jump up and bite you to death, stinky cat, stinky cat,...]
Tong Yao pretended not to understand, "It seems to be jealous." The lady laughed, "My dog is smart, it gets jealous whenever it sees me touching other cats or dogs."
"That’s indeed smart. Must be expensive too, maintaining those pets every month?" Tong Yao followed the lady’s topic of discussion and started chatting.
"It’s okay, it only eats dog food, not human food. You also raised your kitten pretty well, its fur is glossy, and it’s chubby from eating meat. You must be really attentive!"
Seeing that Tong Yao also kept pets and raised her kitten quite well, Wang Chun figured she must be an animal lover. Naturally, they furthered their discussion. As they talked, Wang Chun became more comfortable with Tong Yao. Wang Chun’s husband was in the construction materials business, they had a huge operation, basically monopolizing the materials market in Kyoto.
She didn’t have much to do on a regular basis other than going shopping with friends, drinking tea, and walking her pet dog.
There were a lot of people trying to curry favor with her in daily life, so she was used to people initiating conversations with her. If it weren’t for the fact that Tong Yao also loved pets, she wouldn’t have bothered to talk to her.
Whenever she visited a shop and if the owner deliberately tried to curry favor with her, she wouldn’t say anything on the surface, but she would never visit that shop again. She neither liked people who flatter others, nor her strong sense of safety.
Being rich can be a pleasure, but if you come across people with ill intentions, then money can become a death note.
While Tong Yao chatted with Wang Chun, Wang Chun didn’t divulge too much personal information. Their conversations were mostly about pets. During their chats, Wang Chun would order a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. Comparable to other tea beverages, this particular drink was slightly more expensive.
The tea shop was located near the university gate. Most of the patrons were students with limited buying power. Thus, customers like Wang Chun who always ordered orange juice were pretty rare.
The reason behind Wang Chun’s regular orange juice order wasn’t entirely due to her liking the drink, but also because it revealed a bit about Tong Yao’s marketing tactics.
Tong Yao had several ad posters attached to the walls inside the shop, listing the benefits of the various tea drinks sold in her shop. For instance, the poster for the milk tea explained the nutrients one could gain from drinking milk. Naturally, all the other posters for various drinks also mentioned their respective health benefits.
Speaking of it, Si Chen deserved to be complimented as he was the one who helped her list all these benefits. Tong Yao then gave the list to an advertisement agency for production.
Wang Chun spent around twenty minutes in the store before leaving. Seeing more and more customers coming in, Tong Yao behaved like a true business person through and through, and charged Wang Chun for her drink despite their pleasant conversation. This didn’t annoy Wang Chun, but rather left quite a good impression.
She wasn’t short of money for a drink. If Tong Yao hadn’t charged her, she would have felt that Tong Yao was trying to curry favor with her with just a drink, and that she might ask for something later. She didn’t like people who overstepped boundaries.
It seemed that the people around her befriended her due to her husband’s influence. There weren’t many genuine people, hence she consciously distanced herself from them.
When Wang Chun left, Tong Yao simply waved her hand and bid her goodbye, she didn’t even go out to send her off. She was busy preparing tea for other customers. All of her employees had classes that morning, leaving her alone to handle the shop.
When the entire shop was finally empty, the small raccoon cat immediately ran towards Tong Yao to claim credit.
[Did I do well? Remember to arrange for the small dried fish tonight.]
"Don’t worry! I’ll make sure you have enough dried fish." Tong Yao reassured the cat while petting it and dangling a carrot, "If you continue to behave well for a while, I’ll get you a little cat once we have the house."
The small raccoon cat was about to mention this matter. Surprisingly, Tong Yao spoke up first. It bragged, [Now, people prefer free love. Who still wants arranged marriages? When moving, just bring along the yellow-striped one from the courtyard, I chose her to be my wife.]
Tong Yao chuckled, "So you’ve been going out on dates lately. Okay, I promise you. As long as you behave, when the house gets finalized, I will bring her along when we move. "
It wasn’t a big deal for Tong Yao to keep another cat.
With Tong Yao’s guarantee, the small raccoon cat felt assured and secretly decided to perform even better when it next met Wang Chun. However, the Teddy that Wang Chun kept was really annoying: very loud and ugly with its grinning face. It wondered about Wang Chun’s taste.
In the eyes of small animals, the Teddy that Wang Chun kept was a peculiarly ugly creature.
If it weren’t for helping Tong Yao, the cat would have scratched the dog’s face a long time ago to see if it dared to keep acting so brazenly.
In the following days, Wang Chun would frequent the shop to have freshly squeezed orange juice whenever she had free time. Each time she would sit for around twenty minutes before leaving. She really liked the little raccoon cat. First, it was just gentle strokes. Later, she began cuddling it directly.
Seeing the little raccoon cat becoming increasingly favored, Teddy took advantage of Wang Chun’s distraction and bit the raccoon cat’s tail. The Teddy soon learned its lesson from the scratches of the raccoon cat. Yet, it still pretended to be pitiful in front of Wang Chun, employing the tactic of playing the pig to eat the tiger.
Wang Chun could never imagine that a kitten could have so many plots. After scolding Teddy, she held the little raccoon cat in her arms to console it for quite some time. Tong Yao nearly clapped in praise of the kitten’s acting.
And since the little raccoon cat taught Teddy a lesson, it had behaved itself. Even when Wang Chun held the little raccoon cat, it didn’t dare to bark again.
