Chapter 361: Chapter 361: You didn’t kill Song Yu, did you?

The two walked down the street for more than ten minutes, and arrived at the corner of South Street. This place was sparse in both people and lighting, which made Song Yu feel a bit insecure. "Uncle Si, it’s as dark as a donkey’s ass here, why are we meeting here!"

Before Si Weimin could answer, a black van came zooming in, its bright headlights blinding Song Yu. He shielded his eyes instinctively with his hand. As he did so, he saw three or four sturdy men getting out of the vehicle, all of them looking fierce and menacing. Terrified, he retreated into Si Weimin’s shadow, hoping to be overlooked.

The man leading the group glanced behind Si Weimin and asked, "Boss Si, is this the man you were talking about?"

"Yes, that’s him." Si Weimin nodded. He then patted the man on the shoulder, "I’ll leave him to you, gentlemen. I’ve got something else to attend to. I’ll make time to have tea with you when I can."

The man responded, hinting at something, "Don’t worry, Boss Si! We will handle him accordingly."

"Uncle Si." Song Yu, now an inch away from fearfulness, was tentatively following Si Weimin but was stopped by the men.

"Your uncle has already left you in our care, go with us!" said the leader of the men. 𝑛𝘰𝑣𝑝𝑢𝑏.𝘤𝑜𝘮

"Can I talk to my uncle for a bit more?" Song Yu was scared, inherently knowing these men were not to be trusted. They didn’t look like decorators.

Could his uncle Si be trying to teach him a lesson by arranging these men to deal with him, in order to deter him from bothering Xiaohui?

With a ghostly pallor, Song Yu dared not make a scene. He was no match for any of them, let alone four. All he could do was be polite, hoping to lower their guard.

The leading man sneered, "Just let us know whatever you want to say to your uncle and we’ll pass it on. Don’t delay any longer, get in the van! Once we’ve finished with you, the rest of us are going to go out for a few drinks."

To Song Yu, it sounded like these men would celebrate after disposing of him. He was shaking in fear, and, losing their patience, the men finally pushed him into the van.

After about half an hour of aimless driving, the van stopped at a remote factory. The leader got out and exchanged a few words with the factory manager, then forced him out of the van before speeding off.

Shaking, Song Yu stepped out of the vehicle and immediately collapsed on the ground. The factory manager gave him a look and warned, "There will be more work and less talk here. You must obey the orders or else you’ll pay the price."

Relieved to learn that he was brought here for work, Song Yu got up and dusted himself off. He took a breath, "Don’t worry, I’ll work hard. I’ll do whatever you ask and will certainly not be lazy."

Unaware of the cruelty this place held, Song Yu was still hopeful for the future.

Knowing he hadn’t quite realized where he was, the factory manager sneered, "Get to work then! Don’t just stand there wasting time."

"Work now?" Surprised, Song Yu grew skeptical. What on earth could he be working on in such a remote and desolate place late at night?

Following the man into the factory, the iron door opened and a foul smell assailed his senses. Song Yu saw dozens of people working hard in ragged clothing in the cold. Even a man with a limp was dragging heavy loads.

Before he could figure out what kind of factory this was, he retched, earning a kick in the rear from the factory manager. As soon as he stood up, he was dragged to a work station.

"This will be your position. If you don’t obey orders, you’ll suffer. Just so you know, there’s no escaping from here. You’ll only leave this place carried out."

Song Yu’s mind went buzzing. He finally realized he had been fooled. To his horror, he was hit again by the factory manager, until he was kneeling and begging for mercy.

Meanwhile, Si Weimin returned home alone. Seeing him return by himself, Si Xiaohui’s tense expression slightly relaxed.

"Uncle Si, you didn’t change your mind about letting me continue with Song Yu, did you? I’ve decided to divorce him. No one can change my mind. If you don’t allow me to divorce him, I’d rather die!"

Si Weimin looked solemn, "As for Song Yu, I’ve taken care of it. He won’t bother you anymore. Let your mother take the household registration book to apply for your divorce. Remember, Song Yu never came. You never met him. Even if the police come asking, that’s what you should say."

Ecstatic to hear that Song Yu wouldn’t bother her anymore, Si Xiaohui thought he had gone back to Li City. But after hearing Si Weimin’s words, her face turned stark white. She looked at her uncle fearfully, "Uncle Si, you didn’t kill Song Yu, did you?"

She saw Uncle Si and Song Yu leave together from the crack in the door earlier. Now, her uncle wants her to hide Song Yu’s whereabouts and even mentioned the police. This was clearly abnormal.

She no longer wanted to continue her life with Song Yu, but she never wished him dead!

Murder was a crime.

"Nonsense." Si Weimin scolded sternly. "

How could I murder someone? Don’t overthink it. I just found him a job. From now on, he won’t have anything to do with you anymore. Just do what I told you."

"Okay," Si Xiaohui nodded repeatedly, suddenly feeling a chill run down her spine. "Uncle Si, I’m tired. I’m going to bed."

"Go ahead." Si Weimin waved his hand and went back into his room.

Upon returning to her room, Si Xiaohui quickly shut the door and dove under the covers, shivering, unable to tell if it was from cold or fear.

Did Uncle Si really kill Song Yu?

No, that can’t be right. Uncle Si wouldn’t kill anyone.

...Even if he did, he did it for her sake. She must remember what Uncle Si said. If Uncle Si were to be caught, her good days would be over.
