Chapter 497: Chapter 497: The Little Girl Sure Can Talk
Yuan Zhichu seemed surprised as if he had just remembered something, "I can’t believe I had forgotten such an important thing. Hongwei has started a breeding farm, and it’s pretty big. Isn’t your factory in need of eggs? Perhaps there’s a chance you could cooperate."
"Really?" Cheng Feng was slightly surprised and looked at Tong Yao, "That could be possible."
Tong Yao and Gu Hongwei both pondered. Cheng Feng turned to Tong Yao and asked, "Are you also a shareholder of the breeding farm?"
To her surprise, Cheng Feng initiated a conversation. Tong Yao nodded, "Mr. Cheng, my name is Tong Yao."
"Miss Tong looks familiar. Have we met before?" Cheng Feng suddenly asked.
She couldn’t really pretend not to know him any longer, so she nodded, "Mr. Cheng, I think we met at the hospital."
"So, it’s truly Miss Tong. I wasn’t mistaken." Cheng Feng lightly chuckled.
Yuan Wenqing noticed that Cheng Feng seemed interested in Tong Yao and couldn’t help but chuckle a bit. He added, "What a coincidence! Such a young lady starting a business. You all are the young talents of this new generation. As an old man, I’m about to retire."
"Uncle, you’re still young. Without you leading the way, we young people wouldn’t know which direction to take, resulting in us taking many unnecessary detours." Yuan Zhichu flattered.
Yuan Wenqing quite enjoyed these flattering words and responded, "You seem to have mastered the skill of flattery. Learn more from them, life is long. School only teaches knowledge. The rest you have to learn through life experiences."
Yuan Wenqing noticed from the brief eye contact among the three that Tong Yao was quite assertive. Among the young people, she seemed to be the sharpest.
Being wise at a young age and knowing how to stay low-key was admirable.
Yuan Zhichu nodded modestly, "I’ve always admired Hongwei. I have much to learn from him."
Gu Hongwei quickly returned a few modest and complimentary words. When he had decided to start a business, he knew that there were times for modesty and times for nice words. Pride and dignity are for the successful. For those who start from scratch like them, they should have thick skin and be willing to bow their heads when necessary, something he also learned from Tong Yao.
Despite being young, there was a lot he could learn from Tong Yao.
After a brief chat, it was almost time for dinner. Cheng Feng led them to a nearby restaurant. It wasn’t a luxurious place, but it was quite classy. It was Guo Jinnian and Gu Hongwei’s first time at such a place, making them slightly uneasy.
Gu Hongwei managed to make small talk with Yuan Wenqing, but as Guo Jinnian feared misspeaking, she kept her presence as low as possible. These people were different from the ones she had met before. She would rather do less than cause unnecessary mistakes.
Tong Yao and Gu Hongwei clearly knew how to handle things better, so Guo Jinnian kept a low profile.
Meanwhile, Tong Yao was also reducing her presence. She wanted to develop Gu Hongwei, and as for what Cheng Feng had in mind, he occasionally asked about the breeding farm.
Tong Yao didn’t miss this opportunity to mention her past attempts at initiating a collaboration with Cheng Feng’s factory, only to find that he was unavailable.
Despite being only in his twenties, Cheng Feng’s astuteness was comparable to Yuan Wenqing. He didn’t agree to collaborate right away, nor did he reject it. He simply said, "What a coincidence."
Tong Yao couldn’t figure out what he was thinking and decided not to push further on the matter for fear of a backlash. After the meal, when Cheng Feng was about to pay, Yuan Wenqing insisted on paying, "You are all younger generations visiting me. It doesn’t make sense to let you pay for the meal."
After leaving the restaurant, he arranged two cars for them to visit the flashlight factory. Surprisingly, Cheng Feng, the big boss, who seemed as free as a freelancer, also joined them.
The flashlights were all piled up in a corner of the warehouse, covered in a thick layer of dust. Yuan Wenqing casually picked one up, blew the dust off, and had someone fit it with batteries before handing it to Gu Hongwei.
"I can guarantee the quality of these flashlights. You can check them at random."
Gu Hongwei inspected the flashlight and immediately approved of Yuan Wenqing’s products. The older man, fond of recounting his past, led them around the factory, sharing his past mistakes. His stories had a legendary feel to them.
Tong Yao was very interested and listened attentively until she noticed a gaze upon her and turned to find Cheng Feng watching.
Upon seeing Tong Yao look back, Cheng Feng didn’t avoid her gaze and straightforwardly asked, "Miss Tong seems to be very interested in these topics."
Tong Yao admitted and took the opportunity to flatter him.
"Mr. Yuan’s experiences are textbook examples for those in business and role models for our generation. We can rarely hear such stories without paying. Today, I’m fortunate to hear them directly from Mr. Yuan himself."
Yuan Wenqing chuckled, "This young lady surely knows how to talk."
With Yuan Wenqing in good spirits, he became even more talkative. Guo Jinnian silently applauded Tong Yao internally. She was deeply impressed by Tong Yao’s eloquence.
Once Yuan Wenqing started talking about the past, he couldn’t seem to stop himself. He even led them to his office for a chat. They had dinner in the factory canteen and it was already dark by the time he arranged for a car to take them home.
Before leaving, Tong Yao took ten sample flashlights from Yuan Wenqing’s factory.
Upon returning home, Tong Yao and Guo Jinnian immediately dropped their pretense and began to chat on the sofa. Gu Hongwei wasn’t as excited as the other two, but he was also deeply shaken. This was his first time personally dealing with a big boss, and he was constantly worrying about saying the wrong thing and jeopardizing the business.
Luckily, Yuan Wenqing was approachable, and didn’t hold himself with the pretense typical of a businessman, at least not in front of them.
After they had finished their excited chatter, Tong Yao said, "Now that we have the goods, the next step is to find buyers. Jinnian, take five flashlights back to Jiang City tomorrow. Hongwei, take five back to Li City."
Then she turned to Gu Hongwei, "You haven’t been home for a while. It’s the perfect opportunity to visit Uncle Gu. Tomorrow, I’ll make the payment for the house to Mr. Zhong and then come with you."
She hadn’t managed the milk tea shop in Li City for a while.
Gu Hongwei agreed but seemed to be worried about something. He looked distressed as he admitted, "To my shame, my father doesn’t know that I’ve stopped studying. If he finds out, he will be furious. He always hoped that I would finish my studies, graduate, and get a good job."
