Chapter 530: Chapter 530: Encounter with Danger 1
After dinner, a few people sat in the living room and chatted for a while. Because they had things to do the next day, they did not stay up too late.
After seeing off the visitors, Tong Yao and Tong Yaohui chatted for a bit before each retiring to their bedrooms for sleep.
Early the next day, Tong Yao went to the hospital with her parents to get an ultrasound for her baby. Unfortunately, since she was not far along in her pregnancy, the hospital’s current equipment was not advanced enough to determine whether she was carrying twins or not.
Regardless, Tong Yao was in good health. After returning from Li City, she no longer had morning sickness and had a good appetite.
After leaving the hospital, they unexpectedly ran into Chen Nanting at the entrance. As soon as Chen Nanting saw Tong Yao, her eyes widened as if she wanted to devour Tong Yao. Tong Yao, confused by Chen Nanting’s reaction, hadn’t a chance to speak before Chen Nanting rapidly approached her.
Confronting Tong Yao, she asked, "Are you here to visit Uncle Cheng?"
Upon hearing this, Tong Yao knew she had been misunderstood, so she smiled and took out her prenatal check-up form. "Although I have nothing to be guilty of, I don’t want to be misunderstood. I assure you my relationship with Mr. Cheng is strictly professional."
Chen Nanting huffed, took the forms and glanced at them. After confirming they were prenatal check-up forms, her expression relaxed, realizing she’d misunderstood Tong Yao.
She awkwardly apologized, "I’m sorry, I heard yesterday that Cheng was going on a blind date, and then I saw you two leaving the restaurant together, so I misunderstood."
Tong Yao just laughed, "No problem, as long as we’ve cleared up the misunderstanding. We have to get going now. Goodbye."
Finished, she left with Tong Yaohui and Wen Yun.
"Yaoyao, who was that girl just now?" Wen Yun turned her head to look back questioningly at Tong Yao.
Before Tong Yao could answer, Tong Yaohui said, "She’s a girl who likes Cheng Feng. There was a bit of a misunderstanding yesterday."
Wen Yun didn’t press further, understanding that her daughter’s beauty could easily lead to misunderstandings.
Since no one was tending to the breeding farm, Tong Yaohui felt uneasy. After confirming that everything was fine with Tong Yao’s check-up, he felt relieved. He decided to take time to find a nanny for Tong Yao and then go to the farm.
Having lived in the city for his entire life, Tong Yaohui was entranced by everything on the farm. If he couldn’t hear the chickens and ducks for even a day, he would feel restless.
Tong Yao couldn’t persuade him otherwise, so she ultimately agreed to hire a nanny. Together, the three of them screened several candidates, finally choosing one they were satisfied with, mainly responsible for her diet and tidying up the house.
After arranging everything, Tong Yaohui left for the farm with Wen Yun the next day. As soon as they had left in their car, Cheng Feng called the house. He wanted to visit the breeding farm, which sounded reasonable, so Tong Yao agreed.
Cheng Feng drove directly to Tong Yao’s residence to personally pick her up, which was something she hadn’t expected. She’d thought someone of his status would have a chauffeur.
Cheng Feng graciously opened the car door and, noticing she was alone, was surprised. "Miss Tong, is it just you?
Before Tong Yao could answer, he added, "I thought you’d feel more comfortable with a friend."
From their previous interactions, Cheng Feng had discerned that Tong Yao was a very cautious person. Typically, such people would prioritize their safety and wouldn’t make long journeys alone.
Tong Yao had been planning on bringing Hu Haiyun along, and now that Cheng Feng had brought it up, she naturally accepted, explaining, "Mr. Cheng, would you mind making a detour to the suburbs? I do have a friend there."
Hearing Tong Yao say this, Cheng Feng chuckled, happy about his accurate understanding of Tong Yao. Just as he had expected, she really was a careful and cautious girl.
The car arrived in the suburbs shortly. Tong Yao asked Cheng Feng to wait for a moment before she went upstairs to find Hu Haiyun, asking her to accompany them to the breeding farm. Hu Haiyun, who didn’t have any friends in Kyoto and was bored, immediately agreed to come.
When the two of them came down, Cheng Feng was looking around. Seeing Tong Yao and Hu Haiyun coming downstairs, he greeted them and promptly asked, "Miss Tong, is this building yours?"
Tong Yao nodded and smiled, "It’s not getting rented out now, but I estimate it will be by next year." By that time, she’ll have another source of income.
Thinking about how the house would be worth over a billion yuan in the future, she was incredibly excited.
Cheng Feng’s eyes were filled with admiration, and he generously complimented her, "It’s quite rare that someone as young as Miss Tong has such a keen business mind. Girls like you are seldom seen."
Tong Yao modestly replied, "You’re too kind, Mr. Cheng. You’re the truly impressive one."
Cheng Feng laughed and opened the car door, "If we continue complimenting each other, we might be here until dark. Let’s go!"
Tong Yao and Hu Haiyun both sat in the back of the car. After asking for directions, Cheng Feng started the car and asked, "Miss Tong, I hope I’m not being too forward, but were your comments yesterday to help deal with Nanting, or are you really married?"
"I am indeed married. My husband is a surgeon at the First People’s Hospital." Speaking of Si Chen, Tong Yao’s eyes slightly narrowed, her face beaming with happiness.
Cheng Feng said, "You and your husband must get along very well."
Tong Yao didn’t respond, but she thought to herself that if it weren’t for Lin Fengying and Si Xiaohui stirring up trouble, she and her husband would be living a blissfully happy life.
The car soon left Kyoto, and the three carried on casual, intermittent conversation during the journey, alleviating the boredom.
There was an unpaved stretch of road leading to the breeding farm, the road was narrow, so Cheng Feng drove slower. The weather was hot and stuffy, then, unexpectedly, within half an hour, a downpour started. None of them had expected this turn of events.
Tong Yao was puzzled by the sudden change of weather. As the rainfall got heavier, the tires started to skid, and it became unsafe to continue driving.
Cheng Feng had no choice but to park the car on the side of the road. If it hadn’t rained, they would have reached the breeding farm in another half an hour. The road was surrounded by hills, and right now, it wasn’t safe to move forward or backward. Cheng Feng had never experienced anything like this before and was feeling quite helpless.
Tong Yao looked nervously at the hillside next to them, furrowing her brows, and asked, "Mr. Cheng, is the car still able to move?"
Cheng Feng frowned, "Temporarily, yes. But I don’t think we can go far."
Before Tong Yao could reply, he apologized, "I’m sorry, I didn’t check the weather forecast."
Tong Yao shook her head, "It’s not your fault, nobody wants something like this to happen. I suggest we should move the car further ahead, it’s more safe that way. The soil here is loose, and with the heavy rain, I’m afraid it’s dangerous to park the car near the hill."
When Hu Haiyun heard this, she looked outside the car and her face changed, saying, "Mr. Cheng, if the car can’t move, I’ll get out and push. It’s really dangerous to park here."
