Chapter 540: Chapter 540 Return to the Breeding Farm 1

Tong Yaohui’s nonchalant attitude reassured the gang and soon they all reached the bottom of the hill.

The car was still stuck in the mud and the cops hadn’t arrived. With the help of the gang, the car was quickly pushed out. Everyone was drenched in sweat. Tong Yaohui thanked them, but the gang showed no signs of leaving, offering to help push the car back to the Breeding Farm.

Tong Yaohui felt it wouldn’t be right to leave before the police arrived, since they had already called them, but the gang insisted on leaving Niu Wa behind to wait for the police. Seeing their insistence, and sensing a slight coldness in their attitude, he agreed.

Tong Yao’s eyes sparkled as she suggested, "Let Niu Wa help us push the car, too. Let’s leave Jian Jun here. When the police arrive, let them know and they can go back then. After all, it was my father who reported it. If the police don’t see the person who reported, they definitely won’t leave."

After considering Tong Yao’s suggestion, the gang leader agreed that it made sense and consented.

Before leaving, Tong Yao told Jian Jun, "When the police arrive, just tell them that we’ve been found."

After ensuring that Jian Jun understood her message through eye contact, she turned to the gang leader and said, "Thank you for all your trouble."

The gang leader waved his hand dismissively, saying, "It’s no trouble. We’re just helping others."

Witnessing this, Cheng Feng got into the car and slowly began to drive toward the Breeding Farm. Tong Yaohui, out of concern for Tong Yao’s fatigue, asked her to sit in the car as well. The ground, after being baked in the hot sun for the whole morning, was no longer slippery, and the car could be driven without needing to be pushed.

Tong Yaohui tried to politely indicate to the gang that they didn’t need to follow them any further, but they insisted on accompanying them to the farm.

Sitting in the car, Tong Yao looked at the gang in the rearview mirror. Seeing them looking around as though they were surveying the area, she felt an ominous unease in her heart. She was now convinced that these men were trouble.

She expressed her concern, "The Breeding Farm is now on their radar. Them insisting on going with us is probably because they want to see how many people are at the farm."

Cheng Feng thought about what Tong Yao had said to Jian Jun earlier and speculated, "Did you give Jian Jun a hint?"

He figured that since Tong Yao had identified the men as trouble and had asked for Jian Jun to stay behind, she must have a plan.

Tong Yao nodded, "I did give Jian Jun a hint, but I’m not sure if he understood it or not."

She had not interacted much with Jian Jun, and was unsure if he really understood her intentions.

Cheng Feng responded, "He seems quite sharp. I think he understood."

After thinking for a moment, he asked, "How many people are at the Breeding Farm?"

Seeing Cheng Feng’s serious expression, Tong Yao’s tone eased a bit, reassuring him, "Don’t worry, we are safe now. Counting my parents, the breeding farm has six people, plus the three of us makes nine. Even if they have ill intentions, they wouldn’t act now."

Cheng Feng asked the question lingering in his mind, "Why would they let us go then? Is it because they’ve set their sights on the farm?"

Tong Yao carefully analyzed, "I guess it’s because they knew we’d called the police. These two mountain tops are contracted by them, and besides them, there’s no one else nearby. Plus, our car was parked at the bottom of the mountain. Any incident would surely be traced back to them. They didn’t dare take the risk because they didn’t have enough time. Now they want to go to the breeding farm, probably because they’re not satisfied with letting us go, so they’re targeting the farm."

Cheng Feng swallowed, shaking with unseen fear. "I’m glad you’re clever. You opened the door directly and didn’t quarrel with them, which let us escape without any danger. Truth be told, it’s rare to see girls who are both smart, beautiful and brave in the face of danger in this world. Most girls would be scared and crying facing such a situation."

Even Cheng Feng was terrified. If not for Tong Yao and Hu Haiyun, who kept their heads, he might have lost his composure much earlier.

Whether they could safely come down the mountain was still unknown.

Tong Yao humbly said, "I was betting back then. You could say I was lucky and won. Actually, there are many girls like me. Older Sister Hu is very smart and brave as well. You can see that she was also very calm."

Cheng Feng initially wanted to say that Hu Haiyun was older and not as beautiful as Tong Yao, but he stopped himself when he remembered that Tong Yao was married and it wouldn’t be proper to say such a thing.

Taking a deep breath, he changed the subject. "I didn’t think that we’d encounter all this just by trying to visit the breeding farm. I think I’ll remember this day for the rest of my life. This experience really shows how malicious people can be."

He tightened his grip on the steering wheel when he remembered how the mute girl had been hit, a surge of righteousness overtaking him. He was determined to rescue the mute girl.

Through narrowed eyes, Tong Yao smiled at Cheng Feng and teased, "Mr. Cheng, the first thing you’ll do when you get back won’t be to end our business relationship, will it?"

Cheng Feng laughed, "If I don’t work with you for at least ten or eight years after nearly losing my life trying to check out the place, it would be a real loss."

Hearing this, Tong Yao laughed and the briefly exchanged conversation put them both at ease.

Tong Yao looked at the muddy road, mulling over a saying that came to mind. "To get rich, first build roads." So true, she thought. Once this situation was over, she planned to have gravel laid on this stretch of road. Any major road construction would have to wait until she earned big money later.

She still owed the bank money, there’s no way she could afford road construction now.

Halfway there, they were joined by Liu Sanwa. After greeting each other, the group continued their drive to the breeding farm. After about an hour’s drive, they finally arrived at the farm. Wen Yun had been standing at the entrance waiting and rushed to greet them when she spotted Cheng Feng’s car. Not until she saw Tong Yao get out from the car did she finally breath a sigh of relief.

Seeing Tong Yao’s pants covered in mud, Wen Yun lamented, "Yaoyao, you didn’t say you were coming here. I’ve been so worried. Thank god you’re fine. Let’s go in and clean your feet and change your clothes."

Her daughter valued cleanliness, and Wen Yun imagined Tong Yao was upset over her muddy state.

Tong Yao blinked at Wen Yun as she began to introduce, "Mom, this is Mr. Cheng, the boss of the Egg Waffle Cake Factory."

Only then did Wen Yun notice Cheng Feng, who had descended from the car. Apologetically, she said, "I’m sorry, Mr. Cheng, I was solely worrying about Yaoyao."

Cheng Feng politely replied, "It’s okay, Aunt Wen, no need to be so formal, you can just call me Cheng Feng."

Tong Yao glanced back and saw the gang was close. Tong Yao told Wen Yun, "Mom, the villagers who helped us are coming too. Please invite them to stay for a meal. I’m going to change."
