Tong Yao was astonished by Guo Jinnian’s words, knowing that Guo Jinnian had a forthright personality like a boy, but she had never expected that Guo Jinnian would be so bold as to completely undress Gu Hongwei.
Given Gu Hongwei’s shy nature, it was quite fortunate that it hadn’t upset him too much.
Seeing that Guo Jinnian still looked like it was no big deal, Tong Yao, feeling a little playful, said purposely: "Jinnian, you undressed Hongwei, you have to take responsibility."

Guo Jinnian looked innocent, "I have never had a boyfriend either. When he molested me before, I didn’t ask him to take responsibility."

Guo Jinnian widened her eyes. Just as she was about to say something, she saw Gu Hongwei coming out of the bathroom. She quickly shut her mouth and desperately gestured to Tong Yao not to tell, even praying silently to herself.
Tong Yao stifled her laughter, though her eyes were still glowing with amusement. Gu Hongwei found the expressions of the two somewhat strange, seemed to guess what had happened, and restrained himself from saying anything.
Tong Yao felt that if she didn’t leave soon, she might die from trying to hold in the laughter. Thus, she quickly found an excuse to retreat to her room, while Guo Jinnian mumbled about needing a good bath, claiming her whole body felt uncomfortable. Then she followed Tong Yao into her room to borrow some clothes for the night.
"Yaoyao, can I borrow one of your pajamas? All my clothes need washing."
Tong Yao opened her wardrobe, intending to give Guo Jinnian a set of pajamas. But then she got an idea and handed over a hanging nightdress instead to Guo Jinnian, also providing her with a set of new underwear.
"This one’s new, I bought it yesterday and haven’t worn it. You can have it! I know you don’t enjoy shopping much, so this can be your change of clothes for tonight."
Guo Jinnian did not care about what she wore, so she didn’t think much of Tong Yao’s suggestion. She took the clothes straight into the bathroom. After her bath, Guo Jinnian looked at the pink nightdress Tong Yao had given her and was stunned.
She hadn’t paid much attention before and now that she did, she realized Tong Yao had given her a pink nightdress, and since Guo Jinnian had never worn a dress before, wearing it felt almost as embarrassing as being naked. She didn’t feel comfortable wearing it out in front of others at all.
After going back and forth about calling Tong Yao over to ask for different pajamas, she decided it was too drama queen of her. It was just a pink nightdress, nothing revealing. Why couldn’t she wear it?
She was a woman, wasn’t it normal for her to wear a dress?
After comforting herself, Guo Jinnian quickly put on the nightdress. Seeing Gu Hongwei sitting in the living room watching the news, she intended to rush back to her room until she ran into Tong Yao coming out of her door, who found the sight of Guo Jinnian in a dress strikingly pleasant.
She exclaimed: "Jinnian, you look pretty in a dress."
Gu Hongwei, who heard Tong Yao’s voice, turned around to look. On seeing Guo Jinnian’s new attire, he was taken aback. Guo Jinnian had always dressed in a nonchalant, boyish manner, which often led him to view her in a gender-neutral light.
This was the first time he saw Guo Jinnian in typical women’s clothes. From his perspective, he saw her long, slender, fair legs and her pink face.
Guo Jinnian also turned to look, their eyes met, and both quickly averted their gazes. Guo Jinnian’s face blushed hard. Panicking, she said: "Yaoyao, this thing feels too weird. Do you have any pajama pants instead?"
Tong Yao, holding back laughter, shook her head, "No, this set suits you well. Just wear it! You look pretty good in a nightdress."
On hearing this, Guo Jinnian didn’t object anymore. She rushed into her room. Tong Yao followed with a cheeky grin only to see Guo Jinnian rolling back and forth, hugging her blanket. On spotting Tong Yao, she sat up and anxiously asked.
"Yaoyao, will Gu Hongwei think I’m weird, deliberately trying to seduce him?"
Tong Yao burst out laughing: "You’re a girl, it’s normal for you to wear a dress. Hongwei wouldn’t think that way. Judging by his surprise when he saw you in a dress earlier, I guess he didn’t expect you’d look so good in women’s clothes."
Guo Jinnian became somewhat calm and looked down at her dress, "Am I really good-looking?"
Tong Yao nodded, "What’s our relationship? Would I lie to you?"
Hearing this, Guo Jinnian covered her face and laughed. Having always dressed casually like a boy, she was enjoying the feeling of femininity a little by wearing a dress now.
As she was blushing, there was suddenly a knock on the door. Guo Jinnian paused, "What would Gu Hongwei want by knocking on the door now?"
Tong Yao put away her playful expression and started guessing, "He might have something to discuss with us. Let’s go and check it out!"
It’s not the first day Gu Hongwei has lived here, but it’s the first time he’s knocked in the evening. Guo Jinnian figured it out too, so she quickly got off the bed.
Tong Yao opened the door to see Gu Hongwei with a serious look, "Yaoyao, I just saw a news report about Zhao Wenkai. He’s committed suicide."
Tong Yao froze for a moment, turned her head towards the TV just as a news segment about Zhao Wenkai was being aired. She strained focusing on the report sitting down on the couch.
Zhao Wenkai had indeed committed suicide, just that morning, with sleeping pills. As for how he got the pills, nobody knew and the police were investigating.
Tong Yao didn’t know how to describe her feelings at the moment.
Truthfully, she was surprised but also understood quickly.
"Zhao Wenkai, such a proud guy, probably couldn’t stand the thought of spending his life behind bars or awaiting execution. He might have planned this long ago."
Gu Hongwei pursed his lips and admitted, "I think he had a mind for business. If he hadn’t gotten involved in illegal activities, he could have been a formidable force."
Guo Jinnian was somewhat confused, "His family is rich, why did he get involved in such activities? Was he tired of living?"
If it was about money, Guo Jinnian could understand a bit. But for someone who came from a wealthy family like Zhao Wenkai, she was left puzzled.
Tong Yao sighed, "Different folks, different strokes, I guess! It’s fortunate that Achun is abroad, she won’t hear the news immediately. I’m sure she still has feelings for Zhao Wenkai despite their breakup. She cherishes friendships and it wouldn’t be easy to forget the man who was there for her through her school years."
