As soon as he closed the front door, Si Chen cradled Tong Yao to the bed, looking at her cute chubby cheeks. He furrowed his handsome brows and asked, "Have your pregnancy symptoms been too severe? You look thinner; have you not been eating well?"
As he spoke, he put his hand on Tong Yao’s wrist and started to feel her pulse. Tong Yao did not resist; instead, she smiled faintly as she watched him check her pulse.
She chuckled, "Doctor Si, what is your diagnosis?"
Si Chen pressed his lips together, his gaze falling on Tong Yao’s face, he said seriously, "You should get some rest now. We will go to the hospital for a checkup tomorrow."
Originally, Tong Yao was not worried, having tested fine during two home checkups. However, seeing Si Chen’s serious face, she became nervous.
"What’s wrong? Is there something wrong with the baby? I’ve only been hungry for a few hours, and I didn’t do anything strenuous. It shouldn’t affect the baby, right?"
Seeing the change in Tong Yao’s expression, Si Chen quickly held her and said, "Don’t worry, the baby is fine. You might be pregnant with twins. We’ll go to the hospital for a check-up tomorrow to confirm."
Tong Yao was stunned. Everyone had been joking about her having twins, but she never thought it could be true. Excited, she said, "During my previous check-up at the hospital, the doctor said it was too early to tell. He told us to come back in a couple of months to confirm. Oh, and if it’s really twins, it wouldn’t affect your work, right? The government has strict family planning policies."
Overwhelmed by joy, Tong Yao’s thoughts began to slow, and she asked questions that usually seemed foolish.
Gently ruffling Tong Yao’s hair, Si Chen said fondly, "No, having multiple babies at once is not considered overbirth."
Tong Yao’s eyes lit up with happiness, and she started excitedly talking about a dream she had. "Once, I dreamed of a little boy and a little girl. They were adorable and wanted to come home with me. When I told my parents about this dream, they said it might mean that I’m expecting twins. I can’t believe it’s happening."
Tong Yao had faith in Si Chen’s medical skills. Since he had stated that she might be expecting twins, she was sure he wasn’t wrong.
Si Chen chuckled, "Your dreams often reflect your thoughts and physical conditions."
On hearing this, Tong Yao became even happier. Though she had lost some weight after becoming pregnant, her complexion had improved, her cheeks rosy and tender. As Si Chen gazed at her lovely face, his eyes gradually filled with intensity.
They had been married for a long time, so Tong Yao immediately understood the look in his eyes. However, she wasn’t alarmed, Si Chen was a man of restraint. As a doctor, he knew what he should and shouldn’t do.
Therefore, when Si Chen kissed her, she responded, the room instantly becoming hotter. However, Si Chen managed to control himself at the last minute.
Hearing his ragged breaths, Tong Yao couldn’t help but chuckle. She teased, "What’s the matter, Dr. Si? It seems you’re finding it even harder to control yourself when we spend time together."
Regulating his breathing, Si Chen pinched Tong Yao’s cheek helplessly and asked, "What should I do with you?"
Tong Yao chuckled and whispered something in his ear. Si Chen’s eyes lit up, and his usually refined demeanor changed entirely when he was with her.
After fooling around for a while, they reluctantly parted ways when Si Chen had to leave for the medical academy.
Before heading out, he instructed her, "Rest now, I’ll be back as soon as I finish my work. Make sure not to go out before I return." 𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑝𝘶𝘣.𝑐𝘰𝘮
Tong Yao stretched lazily, sat up and said, "I’m going to take a bath first."
Si Chen pushed her back down, covering her with the blanket, "You can take one in the evening, sleep for now."
Smiling, Tong Yao asked, "Would people be shocked to know that anyone can hop into Dr. Si’s bed without taking a bath?"
Businessmen like Si Chen were always meticulous about cleanliness and hygiene.
Si Chen smiled, "That’s one of Mrs. Si’s privileges, you should enjoy them."
Tong Yao stared at Si Chen, her eyes filled with twinkling stars, "Ahchen, you seem to have changed. You smile more now."
He had even developed a mature charm that he lacked before. Although Si Chen had always given off an air of maturity and stability that belied his age, it was an entirely different feeling now.
His aura felt stronger than before, as if he had just been promoted from a student to a class teacher.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Si Chen pinched Tong Yao’s cheek, "I’m about to be a father, of course, I have to learn to change. Protecting you was my responsibility, now I have to protect three more."
Hearing his words, Tong Yao was delighted. She glanced at the clock on the wall and urged him, "Hurry, get to work! I’m going to sleep now."
Si Chen nodded, adjusted Tong Yao’s pillow, and gently closed the door behind him. He ran into Guo Jinnian, who had come out to get some water.

She cleared her throat and explained, "Dr. Si, I’m just getting some water to drink."
Si Chen had never met Guo Jinnian, but had heard Tong Yao mention her a few times over the phone. Knowing that she was here to take care of Tong Yao, he was very kind to her.
He nodded, "There is hot water in the kitchen."
Guo Jinnian nodded, "Okay, thank you."
Si Chen, however, said seriously, "I should be the one thanking you. Thank you for taking care of Tong Yao these past few days."
Guo Jinnian wasn’t comfortable with people thanking her so formally, "Dr. Si, you’re quite polite."
Si Chen calmly replied, "I will be back by five in the evening. Before I return, could you please take care of Tong Yao? Unless necessary, please don’t go out alone, and don’t open the door for anyone. Thank you."
Guo Jinnian quickly nodded, "Oh, okay."
After watching Si Chen leave, Guo Jinnian went to get water from the kitchen, thinking about how calm and powerful Si Chen’s presence was. She felt nervous talking to him.
Compared to him, Gu Hongwei was much easier to be around. At least she felt no pressure in his presence, and she could beat him in a fight.
Si Chen was different. She could tell that he was definitely not one to be trifled with.
Goodness, what a man Tong Yao has married! It’s as if she has dug up a diamond from a remote and desolate mountainous village. No wonder so many people were trying to steal him away from her.
Speaking of which, she wondered what gave Zhou Minyue the audacity to compete with Tong Yao for a man. Zhou should take a look at herself in the mirror and see if she even stands a chance. Zhou’s looks were not even passable compared to Tong Yao.
Zhou isn’t fit enough to even tie Tong Yao’s shoelaces.
