Chapter 572: Chapter 572: Kill
Tong Yao suddenly remembered that Si Chen had mentioned he used to have a fitness routine when he was in school and even learned some self-defense techniques from a classmate.
As Tong Yao was pondering this, Si Chen had already subdued the man. The commotion of their fight had alerted the police who were escorting the injured. They quickly surrounded them and pointed their guns at Si Chen.
Upon seeing this, Tong Yao hurriedly ran downstairs and explained in English, "Don’t shoot! I want to report a crime. That man tried to harm us yesterday and even broke my friend’s arm."
When the policemen heard Tong Yao’s words, they told Si Chen and the man to raise their hands.
Si Chen released the foreign man he was restraining and raised his hands in cooperation with the police.
The foreign man, realizing he could not escape, also complied and raised his hands. At this moment, he also recognized Tong Yao, his face showing a certain degree of panic.
As he saw the police approach them, he took advantage of a moment when everyone was distracted and reached towards his pocket.
Just then, Si Chen suddenly shouted in English, "He’s got a gun."
No sooner had he spoken than he rushed towards Tong Yao.
Upon hearing this, the policemen were immediately alert. Before anyone could react, one of the officers had already shot the man dead.
The sound of the gunshot left Tong Yao stunned, she hadn’t expected the police to open fire so decisively.
This was completely unexpected for her. Seeing the man fall to the ground, she felt bewildered for a moment.
The man was down, his blood staining the water red.
Si Chen had already reached Tong Yao’s side by then and turned her head away so she wouldn’t see.
The officer who fired the shot went over to the foreign man, turned him over and inspected him, discovering that the man was already dead, and what he held in his hand was a knife, not a gun.
One of the officers had a brief exchange with Si Chen, then called hospital staff to carry away the man’s body.
Fu Yiheng and Han Enzhen, having heard the gunshot, ran down from upstairs. Seeing that Tong Yao and Si Chen were unhurt, they were relieved, only to be startled by the sight of the hospital staff dragging away a body. 𝓃𝓸𝓋𝓅𝓊𝒷.𝓬𝓸𝓂
"What happened, Dr. Si?"
Wasn’t Tong Yao going to the bathroom? Why did she end up downstairs and even triggered a police shooting?
Han Enzhen recognized the man, pointing at him and saying, "it’s him, he’s the one who captured us. I remember his clothes and appearance."
Hearing this, Fu Yiheng opened his mouth in astonishment, "this man chased us to the hospital? What was he trying to do?"
Tong Yao shook her head, "Probably not, Jinnian and I kicked him twice in the privates yesterday, he probably came to the hospital for treatment."
After she finished speaking, she felt a bit embarrassed and bit her lip.
At the time of kicking him, she didn’t really think much about it, but now it seemed to have hurt quite a bit.
Upon hearing Tong Yao’s words, Fu Yiheng subconsciously clenched his legs, inhaling sharply in sympathy.
Women can indeed be ruthless.
Si Chen seemed unperturbed, at that situation, survival was the top priority.
"Let’s go upstairs first."
Tong Yao nodded. As they reached the door of the ward, they encountered Guo Jinnian about to come out from inside.
Upon seeing that Tong Yao and the others had returned safe and sound, Guo Jinnian was relieved, "I heard a gunshot just now, what happened?"
Tong Yao guided Guo Jinnian back to the bedside, "The man who broke your arm was shot dead by the police."
Guo Jinnian’s first reaction was the same as Fu Yiheng’s, "He followed us here?"
Tong Yao shook her head and spoke quietly, "He was probably injured by our kicks, and came to get treatment."
She and Guo Jinnian didn’t hold back when they were attacking the man, he must have been in bad shape.
He was in pursuit of them all last night without rest, he must have come to the hospital due to his injuries.
Guo Jinnian wondered aloud, "What about his accomplices?"
Tong Yao replied, "I’m not sure, probably, they didn’t come!"
After speaking, she gave Si Chen a thoughtful glance. She wasn’t sure if she was overthinking it, but it felt like Si Chen’s warning shout was a bit intentional.
Though she had her suspicions, Tong Yao didn’t voice them.
Even though they reported the man’s crimes to the police, they were abroad and it was uncertain whether the police here would thoroughly investigate him. He might be released soon.
That man was undoubtedly a habitual criminal; his death wasn’t unjust.
Tong Yao had no sympathy for the man. If Si Chen hadn’t arrived in time yesterday, she would have been much worse off than facing death - the consequences were hundreds of times more painful.
Guo Jinnian said, "It serves him right, those who work together are surely all no-good."
The man had broken his arm, and ultimately paid with his life. It wasn’t a loss.
Fu Yiheng shivered and said, "I have heard that the law here is different from that of our country. If you resist the police, you will be shot dead. I thought it was an exaggeration. It’s terrible to think it’s real. I’m glad I’m a law-abiding citizen."
Han Enzhen didn’t seem surprised, "I’ve seen it once before. This is how it is in this country. If the police chase you, it’s best to raise your hands and not make any aggressive moves. They really will shoot."
She was quite scared when she witnessed it the first time, and it took her a while to recover from the shock. This time, she wasn’t as frightened as before.
Guo Jinnian sighed, "It’s better in our country."
When he had first arrived, Guo Jinnian was quite thrilled. Now, he didn’t have that excitement anymore.
Tong Yao blinked and turned to Si Chen, "Ahchen, once the flood subsides, let’s buy a camera and take some pictures to take back home as souvenirs."
Guo Jinnian immediately agreed with her, "And a group photo."
Han Enzhen found the idea amusing and agreed with both of them.
Fu Yiheng said, "I have a camera. I can take photos, print them out, and mail them to you. I’ll print a few copies for each of us to keep as mementos."
Han Enzhen and Guo Jinnian were delighted to hear this, and Tong Yao also broke into a smile.
Looking at the time, Si Chen told Tong Yao to sit on the bed and rest. If she couldn’t sleep, she could join Guo Jinnian and Han Enzhen in chatting.
He then called Fu Yiheng to leave the hospital.
Tong Yao wanted to keep an eye on Si Chen, but she couldn’t stop him and could only watch as Si Chen and Fu Yiheng went out together.
They were gone for over three hours, returning when it was already dark. Tong Yao and the others had just finished their bread when they returned.
Not only did Si Chen bring back food this time, but he also brought a change of clothes. Tong Yao didn’t know how he had managed, but seeing the tired expressions on his and Fu Yiheng’s faces, she knew these things were hard to come by.
Si Chen made these efforts just so that Tong Yao could have a decent meal, and she wouldn’t let his effort go to waste. Everyone enjoyed a full meal and felt especially comfortable in their stomachs.
After eating bread and wearing dirty clothes for two days, they were finally able to eat well and put on clean clothes.
Because of limitations, the clothes that Si Chen managed to acquire didn’t look particularly great, and were even slightly unfashionable, but they were still better than dirty clothes.
