Chapter 616: Chapter 616: Night Light’s
Everyone returned home and stored the products in the warehouse downstairs, after which Hu Haiyun and the others went to their rooms to freshen up and change into clean clothes.
Having spent this period on the train without showering or changing their clothes, they all had a musty smell on them. This was no exaggeration.
The conditions on the train were limited, so it was already a small victory that they made it back in one piece.
Sister Zheng had already cooked a feast. After enduring hardship for half a month, the sight of the food made everyone salivate. This was not an exaggeration either. Tong Yao knew they must have been craving some home food after all the hard work.
Seeing that everyone was a bit restrained, Tong Yao laughed and said, "It’s only us here, no need to be shy. Dig in!"
At her words, everyone dispensed with the formalities, picked up their chopsticks, and began to wolf down the food. Hu Haiyun was no different, joining in the feast as well.
After consuming two bowls of rice, Hu Haiyun felt more comfortable. She looked at Sister Zheng and said, "Sister Zheng, your culinary skills are truly unmatched. I could eat five meals at once."
Sister Zheng laughed, "If you like it, eat more. There’s still more food in the pot. Let me know if there’s anything particular you want for dinner, and I’ll prepare it for you."
Hu Haiyun smiled, "I’m not picky. I love everything you cook."
Hearing this, Sister Zheng was even happier. Working at Tong Yao’s home came with decent pay, occasional consecutive days off, and most importantly, everyone around Tong Yao was as amiable as her and did not nitpick her cooking. Sister Zheng was very content with her job here.
Guo Jinnian turned to Hu Haiyun and asked, "Sister Hu, was the trip smooth?"
Hu Haiyun nodded, "Everything went quite smoothly this time. We got more clothing products though, and fewer of the other stuff, because it was their first time, and they’re not familiar with the process yet. But I believe next time, they could bring back more varied items."
In fact, Hu Haiyun didn’t really want to bring back too many different items. She’d never tried selling anything other than clothes before, and many items were quite pricey. She was worried that Tong Yao might not be able to sell them and be stuck with the inventory, so she only brought a small portion back to test the market first.
Guo Jinnian casually said, "No worries, as long as you guys made it back safely, everything else doesn’t matter."
Hu Haiyun nodded and turned to Tong Yao, "Yaoyao, I brought back around 1,500 pieces of clothing this time, though I haven’t done an exact count yet. After we eat, shall we go count them?"
Tong Yao’s eyes lit up, "Sure, someone is coming over to check the goods this afternoon."
Hu Haiyun didn’t expect the prospective buyer to come over so soon. It seemed that Tong Yao had indeed found a reliable buyer. Hu Haiyun felt more at ease. As long as Tong Yao could find a stable buyer, then she could trade goods without reservation next time.
After the meal, Hu Haiyun instructed the others to rest, while she went with Tong Yao to count the goods in the warehouse. She was surprised to see that they had actually brought back 1,650 pairs of jeans.
Tong Yao’s eyes sparkled, "Sister Hu, the goods you brought back this time are worth several times more than before. I won’t lie, I’ve found a stable buyer. He can take at least 3,000 pairs of jeans a month."
"3,000 pairs?" Hu Haiyun was slightly shocked, "Yaoyao, how big is your buyer?"
While she knew Tong Yao was capable, Hu Haiyun was still taken aback by the figure "3,000".
Previously, she would bring back just a bit over 100 items, which were divvied up among several merchants. A single merchant usually couldn’t handle that many goods. However, Tong Yao found just one merchant who could take 3,000 pairs. This was indeed quite shocking.
Tong Yao nonchalantly said, "We just got lucky. Ahchen happened to know someone abroad whose relative does business in Kyoto."
Was it just a stroke of luck?
Hu Haiyun knew Tong Yao was being modest. Seeing that Tong Yao was adept at selling goods, Hu Haiyun became even more ambitious, "Yaoyao, I am thinking about expanding our team. What do you think?"
Tong Yao thought for a moment and said seriously, "Sister Hu, I have a better idea. This one does not have to be rushed. Let’s talk about it tonight."
Hu Haiyun won’t be going out to trade goods for at least a week, so they were not in a hurry, "Alright."
At this moment, Guo Jinnian touched something in a cloth bag and asked curiously, "Sister Hu, what’s this?"
Tong Yao and Gu Hongwei looked over.
Hu Haiyun laughed, "This is the telescope and the watch that I brought."
Hu Haiyun went over and opened the cloth bag to reveal more than a dozen telescopes and wrapped watches, some hidden inside clothing. There were fifteen telescopes and twenty-two watches.
"I have no idea if these will sell, but there were restrictions on how many goods could be transported from the railway station, so I brought some to test the market."
Gu Hongwei and Guo Jinnian were viewing these items for the first time and were filled with curiosity, even trying to gaze at distant things with the telescope.
However, Tong Yao’s eyes were sparkling, "Sister Hu, these few little things you brought back are worth more than your two bags of clothes."
Hearing this, Hu Haiyun was taken aback, "Yaoyao, you’re saying these things are worth more than my two bags of clothes?"
She had bought back five bags of clothes in total, each bag containing several hundred items. It was hard to believe that these little items could be more profitable than the clothes.
Tong Yao laughed and agreed. She picked up a watch and said, "Sister Hu, do you know why this watch is valuable?"
Hu Haiyun shook her head, "Actually, I don’t see much difference between this watch and the ones we usually wear."
Tong Yao chuckled, "Try holding the watch in your palm and have a look."
Upon hearing that, Hu Haiyun did as told. So did Guo Jinnian and Gu Hongwei. All three of them wore astonished looks.
Guo Jinnian exclaimed in surprise, "It’s luminous in the dark."
Tong Yao nodded, "Yes, it’s luminous. Moreover, it bears the brand of a foreign country, so even if it’s not luminous, it’s still more expensive than ordinary watches."
Upon hearing this, Hu Haiyun regretted not bringing more, "The watches were quite lightweight, and cheaper overseas than domestically."
Hu Haiyun admired Tong Yao even more, "Yaoyao, I think you’re the real treasure here. It’s a shame you can’t go abroad. If you could accompany me, you’d be worth more than anything these four could bring back."
Gu Hongwei and Guo Jinnian agreed with Hu Haiyun. In their view, Tong Yao was very knowledgeable and seemed to know everything. There also didn’t seem to be anything that could baffle her.
Tong Yao deflected with modesty, "Sister Hu, I’m not as great as you guys think. It’s just that I’ve paid more attention to these matters since I’ve thought about trading goods."
The usually silent Gu Hongwei said, "This also has to do with the breadth of one’s knowledge. You’re knowledgeable and have seen so much. This watch would have seemed no different from domestic ones to people like me."
