Chapter 639: Chapter 639: Go Kill Those Three Dogs
The man tried shoving off the dog, but Dahuang clung to his buttocks and wouldn’t let go. He tried to kick Dahuang, but the dog was biting his backside, hence he was not within reach.
The two policemen either didn’t react in time, or they also wanted to take the arrogant man down a notch, as they merely stood there.
The gate guard, from out of nowhere, brandished a cleaver, seemingly intending to hack at Dahuang. Tong Yao, seeing this, had a glacial look in her eyes and shouted hurriedly, "Dahuang, come here."
Realizing the danger, Dahuang let go and rushed to Tong Yao. The three dogs bared their fangs, growled and glared at the man and the gate guard. With the police there, the gate guard didn’t dare to act rashly but held on to his knife, to avoid another dog attack.
The blood was gushing from the man’s buttock bitten by the dog, the sight was ghastly. Yet, Tong Yao didn’t feel an ounce of sympathy for him. She said to Gu Hongwei, "Have them get in the car, and wait for me."
Gu Hongwei was a little bit concerned, "You..."
"I’m fine, I’ll be right there. You get in the car first," said Tong Yao.
Upon hearing this, Gu Hongwei ushered the three dogs into the car. After locking the dogs inside, he swiftly walked back.
Only then did the man come back to his senses, angrily he said to the gate guard, "What are you waiting for, kill those three dogs."
The gate guard looked at the police officer, didn’t dare to move. The policeman was about to speak when Tong Yao interrupted, in a remarkably cheerful tone, "Officer, you’ve heard him too, he instigated the dog to come back, dogs don’t have hands, so they bite, although a bite wound is not as serious as a cut one, we adults are magnanimous, we don’t mind. We won’t pursue this matter, case closed."
Finally, Cheng Anran added, "Thanks for coming by despite your busy schedule."
Without waiting for the two policemen to react, Tong Yao had already turned around, got in the car with Gu Hongwei and left. The man didn’t even register what was happening.
By the time he noticed that Tong Yao had left, Gu Hongwei had already driven away. The man was livid, and the wound on his buttock bled even more heavily. Eventually, he was carried by his factory workers to the hospital...
Tong Yao, sitting in the car and stroking Dahuang’s head, felt particularly satisfied. A guy like him has to be dealt with unorthodoxly, and when dealing with a ruffian, one must be an even bigger ruffian.
She patted Dahuang’s head and praised, "Dahuang is such a good dog, we shall reward you with chicken legs later, look at how thin you’ve become."
Dahuang whimpered and licked Tong Yao’s hand. Xiaohei and Xiaohua also rubbed lightly against Tong Yao’s hand, seemingly conveying their feelings of longing.
Looking at the three plump dogs through the rear-view mirror, Gu Hongwei wondered how they could possibly be thin.
"Are we going to the hospital now or going back to Xiaoshuang’s house?" he asked.
Tong Yao replied, "Let’s drop them off at Xiaoshuang’s house first! Then head to the hospital, have lunch, and you can drive back to the village in the afternoon!"
Gu Hongwei stayed silent, he wasn’t reassured leaving Tong Yao in the city, especially just after she had offended that man, who didn’t seem like a decent person -he may plot something against her.
Tong Yao figured out his concerns and reassured, "Don’t worry, I’m safe. This afternoon I’ll stay at the hospital, and at night I’ll stay here. As for other things, we’ll discuss when you return from the village."
Hearing Tong Yao’s words, Gu Hongwei sighed in relief. Tong Yao should be safe in the hospital. That man wouldn’t dare to cause any trouble there.
After giving it some thought, he suggested, "After I return, I should take Dahuang and the others back! To avoid them getting snatched away again."
Tong Yao thought it was a good idea and nodded, "That works."
After a short pause, she shared an idea with Gu Hongwei, "I’m planning to open a bubble tea shop for Boyi and Lijuan to manage, what do you think?"
As her relationship with Si Chen was getting better, Si Boyi was Si Chen’s only brother and hence the only relative he was close to. Thus, as their lives improved, they couldn’t ignore Si Boyi.
What if something happened to Si Boyi, how heartbroken would Si Chen be?
After much consideration, Tong Yao decided to help Si Boyi, who has been taking care of their household quite well. It wouldn’t cost much to open a shop for him.
"That’s a good idea.", Gu Hongwei nodded as he drove, "Boyi and Lijuan are decent people. They are grateful and will remember your kindness."
Tong Yao was stroking Dahuang’s head and chuckled, "Actually, I don’t really mind if they remember or not. As long as they lead a stable life and stay out of trouble, that’s all I care about. Boyi is Ah Chen’s brother, Ah Chen has been through a lot since his childhood, Si Boyi is the only family he really cares about, Ah Chen can only be at peace when Boyi is doing well."
"It’s their fortune in the Si family to have found you," Gu Hongwei commented.
Tong Yao smiled without saying a word. They arrived at Zheng Xiaoshuang’s house quickly. She let the three dogs in and told them not to come out, before instructing the shopkeeper to buy chicken legs for them.
Up till now, she hadn’t had time for breakfast, so Tong Yao and Gu Hongwei quickly had some lunch before heading to the hospital. Si Boyi’s condition had improved a lot, he was more animated and could hold a normal conversation, Zhang Lijuan was feeding him rice porridge by his bedside.
After they chatted for a while, Gu Hongwei got ready to return to the village. Chen Jinlan was concerned about her grandson staying back home, so she said, "Lijuan, Boyi, I’ll go back with him for a while! To bring the child back here, your sister-in-law is also busy with so many kids, I can’t be at ease, it’s better to bring him back. Besides, Lijuan is about to give birth, I can also bring back the necessary things for childbirth."
Zhang Lijuan, who was missing her child as this was the first time she’d been separated from him for so long, agreed, "Mom, then you go back with Hongwei!"
Si Boyi also agreed, "Yes, bring him back! It’s not right always bothering sister-in-law."
After deciding, Chen Jinlan returned to the village with Gu Hongwei. Tong Yao stayed at the hospital with Zhang Lijuan and Si Boyi. When it was the doctor’s working hours in the afternoon, Tong Yao suggested, "Lijuan, let me accompany you for a prenatal checkup! The baby’s almost due, you need to pay more attention to your health."
When Si Boyi thought of Zhang Lijuan giving birth to their first child, he felt somewhat disturbed. He nodded, "Lijuan, you go and get a check-up with sister-in-law! It will put us all at ease to check. Don’t worry about me, I feel sleepy and will take a nap."
Si Boyi was recovering rapidly, his spirits were high, other than not being able to get out of bed, everything else was fine, he wouldn’t have any trouble staying by himself in the ward for two to three hours.
Upon hearing this, Zhang Lijuan nodded and instructed Si Boyi to call the nurse loudly if anything came up. Then she left the ward with Tong Yao.
As soon as they stepped out of the ward, she anxiously took hold of Tong Yao’s hand and confided, "Sister-in-law, I don’t know what’s going on. Since this morning, I haven’t felt much movement from the baby in my belly, even though he’s usually quite active."
