Chapter 641: Chapter 641: Eyes Hurt After Crying

Tong Yao was the only one standing at the entrance of the Operating Room, holding a baby and not leaving. Zhang Lijuan just went through the difficulties of childbirth, it would probably sadden her seeing nobody waiting outside the Operating Room.

Only after becoming pregnant did Tong Yao realize, expectant mothers are very sensitive. For instance, she thought a lot about whether Si Chen would be able to make time to come back when she was giving birth.

The baby in her arms squirmed slightly. Tong Yao looked down to see a chubby baby wrapped in a layer of vernix, peacefully sleeping as if it hadn’t just been crying. The baby’s face was a bit blue-ish, probably from being squeezed in the stomach.

Zhang Lijuan had previously expressed a desire to have a daughter, to have both a son and a daughter perfects the family portrait. Now that the baby was a hefty boy, it was unknown what her thoughts were.

After stroking the baby’s round face, Tong Yao chuckled. Right as she was enjoying the mirth, Zheng Xiaoshuang returned, "Sister Yaoyao, Boyi asked me not to take care of him, he said the two pregnant women here need company so I came back."

Si Boyi was in good condition and did not need someone looking after him. She just felt it was a bit awkward for her and Si Boyi to be alone in the Ward.

Upon finishing her sentence, Zheng Xiaoshuang noticed the child in Tong Yao’s arms, staring in shock, "Sister Yaoyao, whose child is this?"

As soon as the words left her mouth, Zheng Xiaoshuang realized the idiotic nature of her question. Zhang Lijuan was in childbirth, so whose child could it be other than hers?

Tong Yao’s reply soon confirmed Zheng Xiaoshuang’s assumption, "Lijuan just gave birth. It’s a boy, over eight pounds, so chubby."

Once she realized, Zheng Xiaoshuang hurriedly received the baby, lowering her voice a fraction, "Oh my, this baby is so chubby. Lijuan previously wished to give birth to a girl, seems like she’s destined to be a mother-in-law. Is Lijuan alright?"

Tong Yao nodded, "Mother and son are both fine, she’s just getting stitched up. She should be out soon."

As those words fell, the door to the Operating Room was opened. Zhang Lijuan was being wheeled out by the doctors and nurses. Tong Yao and Zheng Xiaoshuang quickly approached. Zhang Lijuan was still weak, however she was conscious and seeing both of them waiting for her, she cried out, "Sister-in-law."

Tong Yao promptly reminded her, "You really mustn’t cry, you’re in your postpartum confinement. If you cry now, your eyes will hurt later."

Upon hearing those words, Zhang Lijuan hurriedly nodded. Tong Yao advised, "You should rest now. We’ll hold the baby, he’s very chubby and cute."

Zhang Lijuan replied, "I am resigned to not be a grandmother, only a mother-in-law."

Such a statement made both Tong Yao and Zheng Xiaoshuang laugh. They accompanied Zhang Lijuan’s mobile bed into the ward. When Si Boyi saw the nurses wheeling someone in, he thought another patient was about to be admitted. Not knowing whether it was a man or a woman, afraid of offending someone, he did not dare to look directly. But once the doctors and nurses lifted Zhang Lijuan onto the bed and he took a glance at her, he instantly got a shock.

"Lijuan, what happened to you?"

Upon hearing him, Tong Yao swiftly repressed his surprise, "Don’t be alarmed, Lijuan just gave birth."

It was around then the nurse nearby spoke up, "We’re lucky to notice it early. If not, we wouldn’t have been able to save the child and the mother would also be in danger."

The doctors seemed to have merely arranged for Zhang Lijuan to be there temporarily, cautioning her family members to pay close attention to her condition. Before leaving, they reminded her to rest properly.

Even as all the doctors and nurses left, Si Boyi was still lost, "What on earth happened?"

Zheng Xiaoshuang firstly let Zhang Lijuan see the baby, then passed it over to Si Boyi, "First, look at your little treasure."

Si Boyi managed a polite smile before pressing for more information. Zhang Lijuan explained, "Thankfully, Sister-in-law reminded me to have a medical examination. It turned out the baby’s umbilical cord was wrapped around its neck, nearly killing him. The doctor noticed something was wrong and urged me to immediately undergo a surgery. It was a close call, the baby and I are both unscathed."

Even though Zhang Lijuan made it sound like a piece of cake, Si Boyi was still breaking into cold sweats. After a long while, he managed to say, "Whatever happens, we’re not bearing any more children. Just these two will suffice. Once I’ve recovered, I’ll go get a vasectomy."

Upon hearing his statement, Tong Yao chuckled, Si Boyi finally had an opinion, sparing her the need to raise a reminder.

On the other hand, Zhang Lijuan retorted, "Who ever heard of a man getting sterilized? It should be me getting it once I’m out of my postpartum confinement period!"

She didn’t want to go through childbirth again, it was too threatening. They had just begun to live well. Death would erase everything, leaving nobody to take care of the children.

Tong Yao reminded them, "Regardless of who gets sterilized, you need to ensure there won’t be an unplanned pregnancy before the procedure."

Upon hearing her words, both Si Boyi and Zhang Lijuan blushed. Zhang Lijuan, having just undergone a surgery and still weak, quickly fell asleep. However, even with the baby nearby, Si Boyi couldn’t sleep. This child belonged to him and Lijuan, a child Lijuan exchanged with her own life.

Both times he became a father, Lijuan had risked her life. Whatever the future held, he must cherish her and their three kids.

With two patients requiring care in the hospital, they were short of help now that Zhang Lijuan was also bedridden.

Being female, both Tong Yao and Zheng Xiaoshuang found it a little inconvenient to care for Si Boyi. Tong Yao then suggested to Zheng Xiaoshuang, "Xiaoshuang, could you find two nurses for me? Ideally, a male and a female one. That way it would be convenient to look after Lijuan and Boyi."

Zheng Xiaoshuang had been fretting over the same issue. Upon hearing Tong Yao’s words, she immediately nodded, "I’ll go right now."

Saying that, she turned around and exited.

Si Boyi knew that they would need to hire nurses. Besides that, there was no one else to take care of them. Although Chen Jinlan would arrive soon, she would also have to look after the children.

But thinking of how he had to accrue more debt, he felt a flicker of anxiety. Being a realist, Si Boyi would lose sleep over the debts he owed, wishing he could work tirelessly to pay them back.

Tong Yao could read his mind and softly chuckled, "Boyi, don’t feel pressured. I’ve already thought it through. From next month onward, the milk tea shop in Li City will be handed over to you and Lijuan. Consider it a gift for your newborn son."

Originally, she planned to open another store for Si Boyi. However, on second thought, she realized it would be too troublesome. This time, she didn’t bring too much money with her. Furthermore, there was no time to manage the new store, so she might as well give the existing shop to Si Boyi and Zhang Lijuan.

Si Boyi had no idea that Tong Yao planned to give him the milk tea shop in Li City. The shop had a monthly net income of a thousand yuan at the very least. Few people would part with this.

He felt ashamed accepting such a heavy gift. "Sister-in-law, I can’t accept the shop..."

Tong Yao cut him off directly, "You might as well accept it. I have decided to hand the shop over to you. But, I have two conditions. Firstly, you can’t fire Xiaoshuang. She’s a good person and with her around the shop, you’ll have less to worry about. Secondly, you can’t change the milk supplier; you must order milk from Master Niu. Always remember, you must ensure the quality of the milk tea. It’s consumed by students, we can’t profit at the expense of their health."
