Chapter 643: Chapter 643: Looking to Create More Wealth.

Tong Yao was flabbergasted. "The last time I saw her, she was almost due. The sudden complication must have been a huge blow... she probably considered changing careers because of that."
This era is too intolerant of women. A woman who might not have a child would be rejected by her husband’s family, especially in a family as well-off as Si Jun’s.
"I don’t know." Guo Nan shook his head, "I found Dr. Yu to be very strange during that period. She didn’t bother with anyone and stayed in the hospital for over a week. After being discharged, she rested at home for a month and then we heard she had gone to start a business in Kyoto. Everyone said she wanted to divorce Dr. Si Jun, but we never heard of an actual divorce."
Tong Yao sighed, "I think they both had feelings for each other. Dr. Yu had some problems conceiving, but it doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Medical science is improving, there might still be hope."
Guo Nan nodded, "I also think they had feelings for each other. Dr. Si Jun doesn’t talk as much as before, and he doesn’t smile as much either."
Feeling like she had already spent a lot of time here, Guo Nan added: "You should rest! I’ll head out."
Tong Yao escorted Guo Nan to the ward’s door. Thinking about Yu Shiya’s situation, she couldn’t help but feel some regret. She didn’t pity Yu Shiya, but the unborn child who had nothing to do with it.

Movements in her belly were frequent in late pregnancy. Tong Yao hardly slept a wink as she often needed to go to the toilet in the middle of the night. The hospital was quiet at night. As she passed Zhang Lijuan’s room, she noticed the lights on. Probably because the baby was hungry in the middle of the night. She didn’t go in and headed straight back to her room.
The next morning, Tong Yao went to Zhang Lijuan’s room. Zheng Xiaoshuang had also arrived, bringing breakfast she made early in the morning.
Seeing Tong Yao, she hurriedly said, "Sister Yaoyao, come and have some breakfast too. I’ve never made confinement meals before. I just made it the way my mom did for me and brought it over for Lijuan. You guys can make do."
Tong Yao looked at the breakfast prepared meticulously by Zheng Xiaoshuang and thanked her, "What you’ve made is already good enough. Thank you for your hard work."
Zhang Lijuan also gratefully said, "Xiaoshuang, you’ve really inconvenienced yourself with all the running around for my family these past few days. I don’t know how to make it up to you."
Si Boyi nodded in agreement. He was a man of few words and didn’t know what to say. His heart was full of gratitude towards Zheng Xiaoshuang, and also Tong Yao. Even though Tong Yao was his sister-in-law, he had never seen a sister-in-law be so good to her husband’s younger brother.
Si Boyi felt that he would never be able to repay Tong Yao for all her kindness to his family.
Zheng Xiaoshuang smiled and said, "Let’s eat! Stop with the grateful talk. It makes me feel like an outsider."
The group had breakfast together and as Zheng Xiaoshuang was cleaning up, she left for the store. Close to noon, Gu Hongwei and Chen Jinlan, along with their child, arrived at the hospital.
As they entered, they heard a baby’s cry. Chen Jinlan and Gu Hongwei were surprised, thinking they had entered the wrong room, but then they saw Tong Yao there and were taken aback.
"Who gave birth?"
As soon as Chen Jinlan said that, she felt like she had asked a useless question. Only Tong Yao and Zhang Lijuan were pregnant in the ward, and Tong Yao still had a sizable belly, so it must have been Zhang Lijuan who gave birth.
Indeed, as soon as they walked in, they saw Zhang Lijuan breastfeeding her baby. Chen Jinlan was surprised, "I was gone for just one day and she suddenly gave birth? Wasn’t there still some time before her due date?"
Looking at the chubby baby, Chen Jinlan was delighted but also regretful that she wasn’t there yesterday. Two pregnant women and one injured person in one room, she wondered what the situation was like yesterday.
The child in Chen Jinlan’s arms saw Zhang Lijuan and struggled to get down, saying "Mom." while making whimpering noises.
Chen Jinlan put the baby by the bed, wanting the baby to touch Zhang Lijuan, when Tong Yao quickly intervened, "Lijuan had a Cesarean section, she has a wound on her stomach. Be careful not to touch her wound."
Upon hearing this, Chen Jinlan quickly moved the baby away. The baby cried loudly, only to be soothed when Chen Jinlan gave him a boiled egg. Si Boyi called the child to the bedside and stroked his head. The obedient child ate while calling, "Dad."
After hearing about what happened the previous day from Zhang Lijuan, Chen Jinlan was covered in a cold sweat. She almost kneeled before Tong Yao as she thanked her tirelessly.
"Thanks to you, you are my family’s lifesaver. If you hadn’t reminded Lijuan, things could have been disastrous."
Tong Yao felt uneasy and comforted Chen Jinlan a few times. Zhang Lijuan quickly added, "Mom, don’t do that, or you’ll scare Sister-In-Law."
Chen Jinlan quickly let go of Tong Yao and said, "Thank goodness both mother and child are alright."
Gu Hongwei had kept silent all this while. He too was worried for Zhang Lijuan and didn’t expect so many things to have happened upon their return.
After a while of idle chit-chat, Tong Yao asked, "Hongwei, where are Dahuang and the rest?"
Gu Hongwei replied, "I took them to Xiaoshuang’s house first."
Although he wasn’t sure if Dahuang understood him, he still instructed Dahuang not to leave the yard. He felt as though Dahuang had understood him.
Tong Yao nodded. Zhang Lijuan was breastfeeding, and Gu Hongwei didn’t want to intrude, so he stood at Si Boyi’s feet all this while.
The other two nurses also kept silent standing aside. The small ward seemed somewhat crowded.
Looking at the child, who fell asleep as soon as he finished his milk, Chen Jinlan asked, "How much does the baby weigh?"
"Eight pounds and four ounces." Zhang Lijuan replied.
Chen Jinlan was a little surprised, "The baby is already this heavy before he’s full-term. What would have happened if he reached full-term?"
Zhang Lijuan added, "The doctor said the baby is full-term, I think I calculated the dates wrong."
Another sigh escaped Chen Jinlan. It was a good thing they were in the hospital. If something as dangerous as what happened when Tuantuan was born had occurred, she would have fainted. Her births were always easy and she barely felt any pain. She didn’t know why it was such a fright when it came to her daughter giving birth.
Fortunately, Lijuan didn’t listen to her. Otherwise, she would never get past it. Just thinking about her daughter and grandson almost dying made her break out in a cold sweat.
