Chapter 706: Chapter 706: Last Words

Upon hearing Si Xiaohui’s words, before Tong Yao could speak, Si Chen said harshly, "Si Xiaohui, if you continue to make a fuss, you can leave now. Either you leave, or we return to Kyoto, and you will have to handle all the remaining stuff."

Upon hearing this, Si Boyi promptly declared, "Older brother, if she keeps causing scenes, I will wash my hands of her. Let her do whatever she wants!"

Seeing both of them react this way, Si Xiaohui instantly stopped causing a commotion. The money for her return trip was borrowed, and if both her older brothers refused to help, where would she get the money for the funeral!

Although she knew her brothers wouldn’t really abandon her, they surely had the capability to evict her. This time, coming home with no money, they may let her stay for a few days out of respect for their mother. Otherwise, she would have to sleep on the street.

She sniffled, calmed herself, and cast a wronged look at Si Chen. "I’m not going to talk back anymore, big brother, why are you losing your temper? No matter what, we three siblings have grown up together. I have never troubled you guys in these past years. No matter how hard or exhausting my life was, I managed it all on my own. Even if you hate or blame me, I have paid my dues throughout these years, haven’t I?"

At her words, Tong Yao snorted coldly and turned her head away, unwilling to look at her.

Zhang Lijuan was even more disgusted. If it weren’t for Lin Fengying’s condition worsening, she wouldn’t have wanted Si Xiaohui to come back at all.

But to her surprise, after Si Chen heard her words, he frowned and said, "The hardships you’ve suffered are of your own making and have nothing to do with anyone else. We’re all adults. You should learn to take care of yourself."

Unable to hold back her tears, Si Xiaohui asked, "Big brother, you say these things, does it mean you still haven’t forgiven me?"

Si Chen looked at her, "What do you mean by forgiveness? Providing you with money, housing, good food and clothing? Si Xiaohui, you’re an adult, you have to learn to be self-reliant. We don’t have a duty to support you."

Si Xiaohui burst into tears. "Both you and older brother are doing so well, while I barely get by. Can you really turn a blind eye? Besides, wouldn’t you feel ashamed if anyone found out about my situation?"

"What does our dignity have to do with you?" Si Chen retorted.

Sniffling, Si Xiaohui said, "I’m your sister."

Before Si Chen could respond, Si Boyi chimed in, "We disowned you as a sister a long time ago. If you had listened and worked diligently at the tea shop in Li City, found a good man and settled down, your life wouldn’t be such a disaster now. When you left us and leech off of Si Weimin, you didn’t remember you had brothers and a family. Now that you remember, should we care?"

Si Xiaohui blushed in embarrassment but stubbornly defended herself, "But I’ve realized my mistakes long ago. I’m not asking much from you guys, just buy me a small house in Kyoto, and I won’t need anything else from you."

Her reputation in Li City is ruined and the people she has offended are many, hence she dares not stay in Li City. Moreover, she is no longer accustomed to living in a small place like Li City. She longs to live in a big city.

Both of her older brothers are wealthy now, and they could easily buy a house in Kyoto. If she had a house in Kyoto, people would perceive her as wealthy, and no one would dare look down on her anymore.

Nobody would point at her nose and call her slut, telling her to get lost.

"Si Xiaohui, how can your skin be so thick?" Zhang Lijuan was extremely agitated, "Why should we use our hard-earned money to buy you a house in Kyoto? Are you dreaming? Look at yourself in the mirror before you make such demands. Even I don’t have a house in Kyoto yet, why should we buy you one?"

"You all are so wealthy now. What’s the big deal about buying me a house?" Si Xiaohui justified her demand."I just want a house. I didn’t make any other unreasonable demands."

"Okay, stop making a fool of yourself," Tong Yao cut her off, "Even if we were wealthy beyond measure, we wouldn’t buy you a house. You might as well wake up and stop dreaming."

Just as Si Xiaohui was about to retort, Lin Fengying, who was lying in the bed, suddenly stirred. Everyone immediately shifted their attention to her. She slowly opened her eyes, and upon seeing Si Xiaohui, her emotions surged. It was like a brief return to vitality; she seemed more spirited.

She seemed to want to say something, but she couldn’t. She raised her hand, indicating that she wanted to take off the oxygen mask. Si Boyi looked uncertainly at Si Chen, "Older brother, mother wants to take off the oxygen mask to speak."

Si Chen nodded, "Take it off, let her speak! These could be her last words in this world."

As a doctor, he knew what Lin Fengying’s current state indicated. It was a miracle that she was still hanging on.

Tears welled up in Si Boyi’s eyes again as he helped Lin Fengying remove the oxygen mask. Lin Fengying weakly opened her mouth, gripping Si Xiaohui’s hand.

"Huihui..."

"Mom, I’m here. You can say whatever you want to say. Big brother and second brother will obey your words. Mom, why haven’t you taken care of your health well? If you leave, I’ll be by myself, how am I supposed to live?"

Si Xiaohui feigned innocence, as if without Lin Fengying, she truly wouldn’t be able to survive.

Her intent was clear. If Lin Fengying wasn’t close to death, Zhang Lijuan and Tong Yao wouldn’t have missed the opportunity to mock her. Si Xiaohui obviously wanted Lin Fengying to leave last wishes for Si Chen and Si Boyi to look after her.

To everyone’s surprise, Lin Fengying opened her mouth but made no mention of Si Chen and Si Boyi taking care of Si Xiaohui. Instead, she said, "I have a tin box...in my bedside cupboard...all the money is in there...it’s all yours...take it...and this bracelet, this bracelet...is also for you."

The gold bracelet on Lin Fengying’s wrist was what she insisted Tong Yao and Zhang Lijuan buy her last year – it weighs over thirty grams.

No one expected that her last words would be to hand these things to Si Xiaohui. Neither Tong Yao nor Zhang Lijuan needed the money, and since they were leaving soon, this was their last bit of help for Si Xiaohui. Neither of them interjected.

Lin Fengying didn’t say a word to Si Chen and Si Boyi, she only cared about Si Xiaohui and Si Weimin.

"Huihui... I’m leaving these things for you... you...go visit your second uncle... check on him... see if he’s okay in jail... if anyone is bullying him... you... go see him... he’s gotten old...you should check up on him often..."

In her life, Lin Fengying made many mistakes, but even in death, she still cared about Si Weimin. Her greatest regret was not being able to see him one last time before her death.

Si Boyi, who was initially teary-eyed, felt a surge of anger at her words.
