Tong Yaohui chuckled, "I won’t argue with you on that, you indeed looked very good when you were young, I fell for you at first sight."
Wen Yun, who was still reeling from her anger previously, no longer looked upset. "At least you acknowledge it now. Back in younger days, I never saw you speak so sweetly."

"You both head first, I will change into something more festive," Wen Yun retreated to the room to swap her clothes.
With his wife inside, Tong Yaohui leaned over to Tong Yao to whisper, "Your Mom, as she gets older, seems to enjoy flattery even more."
"Dad, we all know you can sooth Mom by just speaking a few nice words to her, right?" Tong Yao suggested while giggling.
Tong Yaohui shook his head, "We are old now, it doesn’t seem reasonable for us to say these things in front of the younger generation."
Tong Yao corrected him, "If our parents get along well and the family atmosphere is harmonious, we are the ones who truly benefit from it. If Mom is happy, then the whole family is happy. What’s so wrong about a family ejoying some laughter together?"
Nevertheless, Tong Yaohui retorted, "As long as you are happy, our whole family will be happy. Your mom is a tough talker but soft-hearted. She may be blabbering a lot due to her age, but that’s her character. Don’t take it seriously when she complains about me being too close to other people’s grandchildren. If I don’t respond when they greet me, she’s more enthusiastic about it than I am."
"What are you two whispering about up here?" Wen Yun returned from her room, noticing that they hadn’t left yet. She suspected Tong Yaohui was complaining about her again.
Tong Yao quickly said, "My Dad insisted on waiting for you."
Wen Yun chuckled and playfully jabbed at him, "He must be grumbling about my dilly-dallying."
"I swear I didn’t," Tong Yaohui promptly defended himself.
His wife might be getting older, but she was becoming moodier than when she was younger; he couldn’t afford to upset her.
Now that the family was cheerful again, they descended the staircase. Guo Miaomiao and Deng Wenwen were already waiting for them downstairs. To Tong Yao’s surprise, Zhou Lei was there too.
"Mr. Tong, Mrs. Wen, Yaoyao, it’s been a while," Zhou Lei took the initiative to greet them.
Tong Yao expressed her surprise, "Indeed, it’s been so long that I could hardly recognize you."

Zhou Lei added, "Hongwei and I were college mates, and it’s been many years since we last met. How could I miss such an important event as his proposal?"
Tong Yao smiled lightly, "Of course, the more the merrier for the proposal. Hongwei would be very happy to see you too. Let’s get going then, and we can continue chatting on the way."
The group got into a taxi. Realizing the young people needed to catch up, Tong Yaohui and Wen Yun took a separate cab.
