Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Different Hidden Agendas
Tong Yao shrugged helplessly, "As you can see, I don’t have any spare empty buckets to unload the goods right now."
Yuan Erhua started to act unreasonably, "I don’t care, if you don’t find somewhere to store the water, I’ll just dump it. I need the buckets urgently.
Tong Yao responded, "You can’t just dump it without compensating me. You’ll have to bring me three more buckets of water. If you want to visit the police station again, then feel free to dump the water, I don’t mind making another trip."
Hearing those words, Yuan Erhua was infuriated. "Just three buckets of water?" She glared at Tong Yao, "I’ll stick around to see how you’re going to make a fortune with just three buckets of water."
"You watch then."
Tong Yao ignored her, busy preparing milk tea. Yuan Erhua stared at her fiercely, which scared He Fang and Niuniu to the point that they didn’t even dare to speak.
Shortly after, the milk delivery man came over. Since Tong Yao was nice to him, and he was grateful, he dedicated to help her. "Call me if anyone tries to bully you again, I’ll keep an eye out for you."
Although he’s old and no good in a fight, he wouldn’t just watch Tong Yao being mistreated.
"What, you’re gonna help her fight me here?" Yuan Erhua eyed him venomously, pointing and cursing at him, "You’re just a milk delivery man, and you think you’re some big shot in front of me? I dare you to hit me!"
Yuan Erhua was the type that bullied the weak while fearing the strong. Noticing he was old and simple-minded, she vented her anger on him.
Would Tong Yao be able to sell milk tea if it weren’t for the milk he delivered? And now he even dared to side with Tong Yao, as if she was easy to deal with.
The milk delivery man looked confused by her screaming. Tong Yao explained, "She was the one who caused trouble here yesterday."
Realizing it had nothing to do with him, Tong Yao didn’t want him involved. "You should go deliver your milk. It’s all been resolved, there’s nothing to worry about."
Despite being an honest person, the milk delivery man wasn’t stupid. Seeing that Yuan Erhua didn’t dare to confront Tong Yao, he took the easier route and cycled away.
Yuan Erhua hadn’t had enough of cursing, she reached out to grab his cart when Tong Yao stopped her, "Yuan Erhua, if you trouble me again, I’m calling the police."
The word ’police’ was Yuan Erhua’s Achilles heel. She didn’t dare to make any more trouble, just stood by, watching Tong Yao cook milk tea, contemplating about her own tea business as it all seemed so simple.
Soon it was time for the students to arrive, one after another, coming to purchase milk tea. Yuan Erhua stood in front of the stall, sternly gazing at the students, she intimidated some of them to the point that they just ran off without buying anything.
Yuan Erhua was hated by the students as she was known for her bad temper. Some of the timid students had their friends buy their snack, and now she was also haunting the milk tea stand, it was like a recurring nightmare.
Nevertheless, there were still quite a number of students buying milk tea, which made Yuan Erhua envious. Just some pounds of fresh milk mixed with water and so many students were buying it. No wonder the students buying soda had decreased.
She noticed a girl named Juanjuan, who’s family was wealthy and often bought snacks from her shop, standing in line. Yuan Erhua approached her with a smile, "Juanjuan, how come you don’t drink soda anymore?"
Juanjuan was straightforward, not intimidated by Yuan Erhua at all. She glanced at her and replied, "I only have this much space in my belly. If I drink milk tea, where would I have space for soda?"
Yuan Erhua tried to sway her, "You’re supposed to drink cold soda and eat ice sticks in the summer. Drinking milk tea might cause heatstroke. Plus, milk tea is more expensive, the money spent on milk tea could buy you many ice sticks."
Upon hearing Yuan Erhua’s words, He Fang got anxious. Who advertises their business in front of other’s stalls? She looked towards Tong Yao, hoping she’d find a solution.
Tong Yao, however, was not worried. The preferences of children couldn’t be altered by anyone else’s words.
As expected, Juanjuan rebuked Yuan Erhua immediately, "My mom said, soda and ice sticks are full of saccharin. We are not short of a few cents, I can have milk tea whenever I want. My mom also likes to drink it, she even asked me to take a cup home after school."
Hearing this, Yuan Erhua almost couldn’t resist cursing. Who said ice sticks have saccharin? Wasn’t it fine before when there was no milk tea? Now suddenly, they feel the ice sticks are not good enough. It’s like having dumplings and complaining about the leeks being grown with manure. Such snobbery.
As the sun grew fiercer, Yuan Erhua was sweating profusely. She couldn’t bear it anymore, she picked the buckets up the moment Tong Yao was done and rushed back to her small shop to discuss with Wang Fugui about selling milk tea.
He Fang noticed Yuan Erhua’s intention and said to Tong Yao, "This Yuan Erhua has been focusing on your milk tea brewing process, I bet she’s planning on stealing the recipe."
Milk tea preparation was simple and He Fang had always been afraid that people would copy it. Given the situation, it won’t be long till Yuan Erhua sets up her own milk tea business.
Tong Yao absentmindedly remarked while putting tea leaves in the pot, "It’s fine, even if she doesn’t copy it, others will learn it eventually."
There was an empty house for rent outside the school gate, the previous tenants also ran a small shop there. Tong Yao wondered if the school would still allow external rentals.
Seeing that Tong Yao did not care about what she shared, He Fang kept quiet but felt uneasy. She was trying to warn Tong Yao but Tong Yao just didn’t care.
However, then it occurred to her that even if someone stole the recipe, Tong Yao didn’t care, then why should she worry unnecessarily?
Lost in her thoughts, Tong Yao didn’t notice He Fang’s weird behavior. When the milk tea was almost sold out and it was time to close the stall, she said, "He Fang, tomorrow and the day after are weekends. I will go to purchase tea leaves and rock sugar during those days. You don’t need to get up early these two days."
"Okay."
He Fang nodded, lamenting about the freedom businesses have. They can take a break whenever they want, unlike her sister and brother-in-law who barely earned enough and were also exhausted from work. She wondered if they could also start a milk tea business.
With this thought in mind, she didn’t dare to make eye contact with Tong Yao due to guilt. She felt it was unfair to Tong Yao, but on second thought, as long as she didn’t set up shop here, it wouldn’t affect Tong Yao, which gave her reassurance.
