Chapter 82: Chapter 82 Lower Back Injury

Zhan Hui followed Chu Yin’s hand and looked over. He quickly stepped forward, checked the person’s breath, and then shouted toward the distance: "Medics, come quickly, save him!"

"Quick, check again, are there any brothers still alive..." Zhan Hui said gravely.

"Yes!" The soldiers transported their deceased comrades back in carts, one by one.

The medics, who were busy to the point of nearly fainting, jogged over, and two soldiers lifted the injured from amongst the dead.

The man gratefully glanced at Chu Yin.

The medic, drenched in sweat, looked up at Zhan Hui and said: "Young General, we don’t have enough doctors! There are still many soldiers waiting to have their wounds bandaged and to receive medicine!"

Chu Yin bit her lip, having made up her mind, she tentatively asked: "Can I help?"

The medic glanced at Chu Yin and then turned his head away, impatiently saying: "Girl, don’t cause trouble!"

Zhan Hui helped Chu Yin wipe the blood from her hands while casting a displeased look at the medic.

This girl Chu Yin already has such rare determination, not to mention that the medic doesn’t know that her acupuncture skills are quite good!

Before he could even defend Chu Yin,

Stung by the medic’s words, Chu Yin defiantly took out her needle bag and said: "My maternal grandfather is Liu Changchuan, and our family has a long line of medical practitioners. I can do bandaging, acupuncture, all of it!"

The medic stopped what he was doing, incredulously looking at the needle bag in Chu Yin’s hand, which was embroidered with the name of Liu Changchuan.

His eyes instantly lit up, excitedly saying: "Goodness, you are the granddaughter of the famous acupuncturist, Mr. Liu Changchuan! That’s great! Over there, several soldiers have hit their heads against their helmets and are still unconscious. If Miss can help with your acupuncture skills, that would be wonderful!"

"Where? I’ll go right now!" Chu Yin rolled up her sleeves, eager to try.

Yet Zhan Hui began to worry about Chu Yin’s safety.

With the next Western Rong assault unpredictable, it would be too dangerous for Chu Yin if she didn’t leave!

"Miss, it’s behind the city gate!" Pointing towards the direction of the city gate, the medic told her, and Chu Yin set off.

But Zhan Hui grasped Chu Yin’s wrist and said: "You can only be at the rear; you cannot come to the front line, understand?"

Chu Yin nodded in agreement, "Okay."

In the moment their eyes met, both could feel each other’s concerned gaze.

Instantly, Chu Yin’s cheeks flushed, and Zhan Hui pursed his lips, embarrassedly lowering his head.

With a great battle ahead, both had their own duties; for the time being, they put aside the budding emotions in their hearts and busied themselves with their respective tasks!

Zhan Lan, standing on the city wall with one hand propping up her chin, saw Zhan Hui and Chu Yin and the corners of her lips unconsciously curled up. 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙥𝙪𝙗.𝒄𝙤𝙢

Zhan Hui and Chu Yin, they hadn’t disappointed her efforts!

Turning her gaze again, Zhan Lan saw carts of corpses being pulled back within the walls; that small joy was instantly replaced with sorrow.

Having just rested, Zhan Lan prepared to go and bandage the wounded soldiers.

Mu Yan had been observing Zhan Lan from the city wall for a long time; these days, he had never seen Zhan Lan smile.

So young, yet appearing as if she had seen through the ways of the world, it was really hard to guess what she was thinking.

Perhaps she was grieving for the Zhan Family Army!

After all, although the Zhan Family Army had repelled two attacks from the Western Rong, the losses were severe.

The Zhan Family Army had already lost a thousand men.

As long as there is war, there will be deaths! Zhan Lan’s sorrow was kept in her heart, not on her face.

Mu Yan withdrew his gaze, recalling her fleeting stunning smile, which, despite being ephemeral, was breathtakingly beautiful.

Mu Yan shook his head helplessly—there was a great enemy before them; what was he thinking!

He scoffed to himself and suddenly felt a pain at his waist.

Casually touching it, he found blood on his lower back; only now did he feel the pain.

The curved saber of the enemy Deputy General had struck his lower back just moments ago; fortunately, his quick reflexes allowed him to behead his opponent, but he sustained some injuries to his waist as a result.

Mu Yan lowered his gaze; there was silence from the Western Rong side for now, and with nothing else to do, he prepared to tease Zhan Lan, who was immersed in her sorrow.

"Zhan Lan, come with me!" Mu Yan’s voice was cold and icy.

Zhan Lan halted her steps and looked towards Mu Yan, "Lord Mu, what are your orders?"

Mu Yan raised an eyebrow, this woman was actually so compliant, he was somewhat unaccustomed to it.

It seemed that his assistance today was not in vain.

Mu Yan’s voice was still cold as he said, "Come with me!"

Together, they entered the storage room on the city tower.

Inside were stacks of arrows, along with gauze, wound medicine, and other items.

Zhan Lan said respectfully, "I am grateful for Lord Mu’s assistance today; I’ll keep this kindness in my heart always. What matter do you need me for, Lord Mu, please tell me?"

Mu Yan turned his back, and as Zhan Lan watched him, she unexpectedly saw Mu Yan removing his shirt, revealing a back with very defined musculature.

Zhan Lan frowned and turned her head away, refusing to look at him.

Mu Yan chuckled lightly, "You don’t need to keep it in mind, you can help me now!"

Zhan Lan thought of Mu Yan’s usual ways; he was the type of man who would say anything flirty, and do anything debauched!

A blush crept over her cheeks and she said angrily, "Lord Mu, I can help you with anything but that!"

Mu Yan turned to glance back, pulling his clothes down further, the corners of his lips curling into a mischievous smile, "Miss Zhan, where is your mind wandering to? Did you not see I am injured?"

Zhan Lan turned her head and looked carefully; there was a palm-sized wound on Mu Yan’s lower back, still bleeding.

Zhan Lan’s face turned red with embarrassment from her previous indecent thoughts, and she quickly grabbed some gauze, "Oh, I’ll bandage you, Lord Mu!"

She took from her bosom a medicinal ointment given to her by Alchemist Qi, this ointment was better than the typical golden sore medicine, and since Mu Yan had helped her, it was worth using on him.

Zhan Lan washed her hands, dipped her fingers into the ointment, and gently pressed it against Mu Yan’s lower back, causing Mu Yan’s body to shiver slightly.

Her touch was gentle, and the wound stung with contact, the mix of sensations left him restless.

As Zhan Lan spread the ointment, she couldn’t help but admire Mu Yan’s physique...it was really...quite impressive!

Even in her last life, when she trained in the military and saw many well-built men shirtless, none compared to this sight!

Zhan Lan carefully finished applying the ointment, then wrapped his wound with gauze.

Mu Yan simply spread his arms, meekly letting her tend to him.

Zhan Lan bowed her head, her hair unintentionally brushing Mu Yan’s chest.

This ticklish sensation made a hint of flush appear at the corners of Mu Yan’s eyes as he watched Zhan Lan’s long lashes and upturned nose, inhaling the faint fragrance mixed with the scent of blood from her body.

In the face of brutal war, he was surprisingly finding a scent of happiness emanating from Zhan Lan.

His hand unconsciously moved to embrace her, but retracted the moment Zhan Lan lifted her gaze to look at him.

Zhan Lan smiled and said, "Lord Mu, the bandaging is done, I really owe you my thanks this time, and I’m sorry you got hurt. If you need to change the dressing, just call for me. The medicinal ointment I have is the best!"

Zhan Lan shook the ointment in her hand and put it away.

Mu Yan’s eyes flickered, and he nodded, "Okay!"

"I will take my leave now!" Zhan Lan waved her hand and departed.

Mu Yan stared blankly at Zhan Lan’s retreating figure, her gaze towards him was so genuine, devoid of any distractions.

Yet, he found himself lost in wild thoughts while Zhan Lan bandaged him!

Mu Yan shook his head, self-deprecatingly mused, "In the end, who is the one teased by whom?"

He was in the process of putting his shirt back on when suddenly, the door was pushed open again by Zhan Lan.
