"System, seriously, no need to panic. I was just joking!"
After a long bout of laughter, Velen quickly tried to explain himself.
"Gods above…"
"I'm doomed. The system clearly didn't believe a single word of what I just said!"
He muttered with regret. There was no response from the system, and Velen was starting to feel a twinge of disappointment.
To flex upper plane universe resources in the low plane universe? That was a whole different flavor of extravagance!
So far, he had only squandered a single high-tier alchemy ingredient from the upper realms while still in the lower realm. He hadn't even touched the upper realm's full arsenal of luxuries!
Should've known better…
He shouldn't have run his mouth so much earlier!
The Next Morning…
Ding!
"Congratulations to host for completing the consumption of yesterday's special item. Reward: 1000 Luxury Points, and 1 Stellar Potion!"
Ding!
"Congratulations to host for triggering an Extravagant Behavior Event! Reward: 500,000 Luxury Points, and 10 Law Advancement Fragments!"
Ding!
"Congratulations to host for triggering an Extravagant Behavior Event! Reward: 300,000 Luxury Points!"
As soon as Velen opened his eyes, the system's cheerful reward notifications began ringing in his head one after another.
"Huh… So Luxury Points from 'Extravagant Behavior' events are no longer fixed?"
"Guess that means the system's really changed up how it handles breakthroughs. Looks like it no longer even considers Luxury Points a precious currency."
Still, what excited Velen most was the ten Law Advancement Fragments he had just received.
That was exactly what he needed to advance his Law comprehension.
"I wonder if my breakthrough will end up shocking the three candidate saints… and perhaps even the grand mentor?"
He grinned in anticipation.
BOOM!
A surge of terrifying underworld energy exploded outward from Velen's quarters.
Three shadows instantly rushed in his direction.
"Who's breaking through?! That's an incredible Law of the Underworld!"
"When did the Sanctum even get someone that strong?"
Alec, Stiegler, and Lore all looked stunned as they stared at the massive vortex of Law energy enveloping Velen's entire residence.
"A rare Law of the Underworld!"
"But… why is Velen only comprehending Law now?" Stiegler asked, genuinely puzzled.
Lore chimed in thoughtfully, "I mean, yeah it's rare… but with his wealth, getting access to a Law of the Underworld inheritance probably wasn't hard."
"You two don't know a damn thing."
Alec wanted to slap both of them.
Do you know NOTHING? Don't speak if you don't understand!
He resisted the urge to scream and instead took a deep breath.
"Say, Alec, you've been quiet," Stiegler said curiously. "What's your take on this?"
Alec gave them a look.
"Have you ever considered that Velen might actually be an Ascended from the low plane universe?"
"Maybe he never had access to Law inheritances before. Maybe he relied purely on monstrous insight to comprehend Law at this level. If that's the case… then he's a genius!"
Lore and Stiegler blinked.
"…You feeling okay?"
"Have you lost your mind, Alec?"
"You really think someone from the low plane universe would have access to all those treasures Velen's flaunting?"
Stiegler reached out and touched Alec's forehead like he was checking for fever.
"Exactly!" Lore nodded. "I'm guessing Velen is a saint from some super high-ranking sanctuary, and he came to the Endless Sanctuary just to relax and burn money!"
Haah…
Alec sighed internally as he looked at the two smug idiots.
You fools… Velen used to be the personal confidant of the former Saintess!
Even I don't know how he became this rich, but if he hadn't purchased both his saint and elder titles, all three of us would outrank him!
And the Saintess... does she even know what her old confidant has become?
Fifteen days from now, when the Saintess returns to the Endless Sanctuary… I honestly can't imagine the chaos that'll erupt.
What's Lilith going to do when she finds out she's technically Velen's grand mentor?
The more he thought about it, the more his head hurt.
"HAHAHAHA!"
"Sorry about that, my friends! I had a bit of an epiphany just now and accidentally broke through! I hope I didn't scare you!"
Velen emerged from his quarters looking very pleased with himself.
Scared?
You wish.
So what if you just broke through in the Law of the Underworld?
We're candidate saints! If that's enough to rattle us, we might as well quit now!
Stiegler and Lore both looked confused and speechless.
"Velen, your breakthrough was truly earth-shattering!"
"I was… honestly terrified!"
Alec, on the other hand, went full drama mode.
He threw in a loud gasp and a trembling voice, putting on a ridiculous display of awe.
"…"
Stiegler and Lore turned their heads slowly and stared at Alec in disbelief.
Are you serious with this acting right now?
Even Velen was taken aback.
The contrast was way too obvious.
Alec's performance was way over the top.
Meanwhile, the other two looked bored out of their minds.
He wasn't a fool—he instantly realized something was off.
A few minutes later, after a bit of casual probing, Velen finally learned from the three of them about something called a Nether Inheritance in the upper plane universe.
And suddenly… the proud grin on his face froze.
He'd just been flaunting his Law comprehension like it was some divine revelation.
But here in the upper plane universe… that stuff was baseline.
Turns out, Law—which had once been the pinnacle of enlightenment in the low plane universe—was just the starting point up here.
Any Law you wanted?
You could buy it.
In the upper realms, all Law inheritances were stored inside magical mineral crystals known as Law Stones.
With the help of a Law Stone, one could raise a concept from the realm of Insight straight into the domain of Law—within a very short time.
That's right.
Comprehending a Law wasn't some sacred journey anymore.
It was… consumable.
Even so, being able to comprehend Law naturally—without a Law Stone—meant you had terrifying potential.
Any low plane Ascended who reached that threshold had limitless room to grow once they entered the upper plane universe.
"Alec," Velen asked curiously, "you said Law Stones are commonly found in the Singularity Battlefield. But who exactly can imprint Law comprehension onto them?"
"Velen, above Law is the Power of Law—true cosmic authority," Alec explained.
"If you break through Insight to the Law level, you can tap into the Power of Law and unleash unimaginable strength."
"There are ten stages within the Law tier. For instance, if someone raises their Law of the Underworld to Rank 1, they can then imprint it onto a Law Stone."
"That's why Law Stones are considered basic consumables in the upper realms."
"Still, without the right talent or a fortunate opportunity, most mages never break through to even Rank 1 Law in their lifetimes."
Velen nodded thoughtfully.
"I see."
"Then… how far have you three gotten?"
He looked them over with new interest.
"Rank 1 Law!"
All three of them answered in unison.
"…All of you?"
Velen raised his brows in surprise.
These three…
They were all sword cultivators, weren't they?
In that case…
Looks like I'll have to have them spar with my rabbit soon!
His eyes gleamed with amusement.
The rabbit wasn't aiming to be just the strongest bunny in the universe anymore.
No—
He would turn his rabbit into the greatest rabbit across all of existence!
Upper plane universe?
That's not the finish line—it's just the warm-up.
