Chapter 767: Chapter 773: Agree
"There’s no need for you, fellow daoist, to view us with such hostility,"
said Elder Song with a gentle expression. "My Taoist name is Songshou, and this fellow daoist is Yu Xue. We have traveled from the central region specifically to visit you."
"I am Li Zhirui."
Now that they were at his doorstep, giving a false name was pointless, so he boldly stated his real name. Then he asked, "May I know how the two fellow daoists were able to find out about my existence from millions of miles away, determine my location, and the purpose of your visit?"
The first two questions were very important to Li Zhirui. If someone could lock onto his location and harbored ill intentions, even as a Divine Transformation cultivator, he wouldn’t be able to escape death! That was unless he hid in his spatial domain and never came out again.
"Fellow daoist need not worry,"
Elder Song said slowly and systematically: "In the central region, there is an Ancient Spirit Realm, no more than three zhang in size, with only a single magical treasure inside. No one knows its origin, but whenever a being of Nascent Soul emerges in this world, the magical treasure will reveal their position."
"However, the location isn’t displayed indefinitely. It disappears after ten years."
Li Zhirui was skeptical but did not voice his doubts, simply watching the two quietly, waiting for them to answer the last question.
"We invite fellow daoist to the central region to participate in the matter of world advancement," said Elder Song, his expression becoming grave after he had set up a barrier around them.
Li Zhirui’s eyebrows twitched. He felt as if he had only now come into contact with the true nature of the world. Suppressing his wildly beating heart, he said, "I come from humble beginnings, please explain in detail."
"It’s only been nearly a thousand years since this occurred, so it’s quite normal for you to be unaware,"
He paused, as if organizing his thoughts, before continuing, "Fellow daoist should know that within the universe, there are countless worlds. The Profound Origin Realm is but one of them and is merely an insignificant small world."
"And a world’s rank is not fixed; some can progress further, while others may fall into the Ruinous Void and be destroyed."
Li Zhirui nodded. He knew such basic information. Connecting this with what had been said before, he began to guess the content of Elder Song’s message.
"At this moment, the Profound Origin Realm is at a critical juncture of advancement or destruction. It requires a large amount of powerful forces to assist it. If successful, our world will be promoted to become one of the Middle Thousand Worlds, and our potential for cultivation will increase substantially! If it fails, the world will be destroyed, and all spirits within will perish."
If it weren’t for the dire situation, the ancient magical treasure would not be so highly regarded, and certainly, no one would travel millions of miles to seek out Li Zhirui, who had just achieved Divine Transformation.
"Is the outcome of the world’s advancement failure so terrible indeed?" Li Zhirui asked gravely.
Elder Song smiled wryly and said, "A small world has discovered the existence of the Profound Origin Realm and has launched an invasion."
Under normal circumstances, if advancement failed, it would only result in some loss of the world’s origin. But this is an invasion! Neither side will spare the other.
In reality, the Profound Origin Realm’s accumulation was insufficient, and there was still some distance before it could advance, but by absorbing the other small world, it could leap over tens of millions of years of accumulation in one step.
Moreover, since the invaders are knocking at our door, it’s no longer about whether the cultivators of the Profound Origin Realm want or are willing to fight, but about how to win!
If the Profound Origin Realm loses in this war between two worlds, its cultivators would become mere nourishment!
Li Zhirui felt bitterly disappointed. He had just broken through to Divine Transformation and now faced an event that happens once in tens of millions of years. He wasn’t sure whether to consider himself lucky or unlucky.
"But I’ve just made a breakthrough, and my strength is not sufficient. I’m afraid I’ll only hold everyone back," he cautiously declined, dominated by wariness.
"Fellow daoist need not worry," Elder Song reassured. "Not everyone is being sent to the battlefield. Each person has their role to play, making contributions to the world’s advancement."
Moreover, Elder Song added enticingly, "Within our ranks, we’ve established a merit list that allows one to exchange for many precious Spiritual Objects. For example, Fifth-order Precious Pills, Fifth-order Spiritual Objects, and so on."
"Fellow Daoist, are you an Alchemist?"
The faint medicinal fragrance emanating from Li Zhirui’s body was evidence enough; only someone who had been practicing alchemy for a long time could exude such an aroma from their flesh.
"Indeed."
"In the treasury, there are a few Fifth-order Precious Pill recipes, as well as the alchemical insights of Pill King Jiang Lie."
Just the first half of the sentence had already piqued Li Zhirui’s interest. With those Fifth-order pill recipes, he could study their contents and lay the foundation for deducing his own recipes.
And the latter half of the sentence had made him resolutely decide to assist the world in ascending!
Pill King Jiang Lie was, to this day, the most formidable alchemist in the Profound Origin Realm!
With Nascent Soul Realm cultivation, he was able to deduce Fifth-order pill recipes. During his time in the Nascent Soul Realm, he concocted another Fifth-order pill recipe. Before his Ascension, he disseminated countless recipes he created, which many cultivators still use today, earning him the revered title of Pill King.
Acquiring the alchemical insights of such a paramount figure in the Alchemy Dao would greatly enhance Li Zhirui’s own path in alchemy.
"Moreover, as an Alchemist, you have a great assurance of safety, as long as you do not take the initiative to attack," Elder Song continued to persuade, seeing Li Zhirui’s interest.
"What must be done?"
Elder Song was overjoyed by the question, which amounted to an agreement to his invitation, and he hurriedly explained, "This conflict will take place in the Universe Void, and the upper limit of the opponent’s cultivation is Divine Transformation..."
It was precisely because the battlefield was situated there that only those at the Divine Transformation stage could participate, as cultivators of lower levels were simply incapable of lingering in the Universe.
"I need one day to sort out some family affairs. I’ll join the two fellow Daoists tomorrow to head for the Central Region," Li Zhirui said after considering for a moment.
The reason for going to the Central Region was that the means to travel to The Void were located there.
"Good!"
"Then, the two fellow Daoists may rest for a while tonight in the West Mountain Market."
Li Zhirui led the way, telling them this; he was not willing to bring two Nascent Soul Cultivators into Wanxian Island.
Before they parted, a thought suddenly flashed in Elder Song’s mind. He turned around to give Li Zhirui another look, his eyes flickering with keen light, as if he wanted to discern something from him.
’How can this be possible!’
Yet, to Elder Song’s great surprise, he was incapable of penetrating Li Zhirui’s fate!
It was the first time since his breakthrough to Divine Transformation that he completely failed to discern someone’s fate!
It should be known that the Law he mastered was the Insight Rule. Although it did not bolster his combat strength, it allowed him to see through many things. The way he had glimpsed the situation on Wanxian Island through the Formation was by utilizing the Power of Laws.
Not to mention his mastery of the Laws had reached a very profound level. Yet, even so, he could not penetrate the thick fog around Li Zhirui!
This discovery aroused a bit of curiosity about Li Zhirui in Elder Song, who faintly felt this person might possess a great secret.
However, as someone on the cusp of Ascension, there was no need for him to be distracted by such investigations.
Li Zhirui, too, was preoccupied with his own heavy thoughts and did not notice Elder Song’s unusual gaze.
